@@cheyennehale7747 In the book, I'd barely call it a duel as Voldemort dies instantly. It's more about the verbal confrontation that happens beforehand. The film removed most of that dialogue, added the flying scene and made the actual duel last longer. I thought they did a reasonable job with it, but the Dumbledore-Voldemort movie duel was far more spectacular. They used a variety of spells and it was all about skill, not wand allegiance.

Order of the Phoenix is my personal favorite book because I feel like it takes us along for Harry’s crazy emotional journey. All the feelings of anger, injustice, loneliness, and in the end, aching sadness, are felt by the reader as well. The book does such a great job of transforming Harry from a child to a man who is ready to take on Voldemort himself. Plus, Umbridge is an all-time villain, one of the greatest in all of literature. And I love the DA plot, and seeing Harry able to command respect from a set of his classmates, even in the face of immense disrespect from others.

I loved when they introduced harry being able to speak parseltongue. that whole moment when he spoke it, the kids reactions, the trios reaction afterwords, and ofc how snape reacted. I think that’s when he realized that harry was more than a boy who survived voldermort. and that the dark lord actually gave (as we know) some of his powers to harry. I feel like snape being involved a lot in what harry went through makes the overall book franchise amazing.

@@ella-ur3tn I don't know, I thought Chamber of Secrets was extremely dark compared to the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone.
In the latter, we see Harry talk to a snake and it's real lighthearted and in English.
      Chamber of Secrets introduced Parseltongue...
The Baselesk chanting "rip, tear, kill" sent chills down my spine as a kid, I definitely wouldn't have been brave enough as a 12 year old kid, or even now, to investigate it like Harry did...
But what was really dark compared to the first one was Riddle's diary and its manipulation and then possession of Ginny. Making her kill Hagrid's roosters and write the threatening messages on the walls in their blood...
Its communication with Harry with the flashback of Myrtle's death, and Hagrid's expulsion and imprisonment at Azkaban...
I definitely thought Chamber of Secrets was when the story began to get darker.

@@briansheehan5256 I totally agree! I just finished chamber of secrets (I'm re-reading al the novels) and also thought this one was so much darker than the previous book. Also, once you've red the entire series this book is filled with clever easter eggs. For instance, it is mentioned how Peeves breaks the vanishing cabinet (which draco later needs to fix in part six). Another cool part is how Dumbledore asks harry if "there's anything he needs to tell him", and harry says he has nothing to tell. I realise now that Dumbledore knew exactly what was going on by reading harry's mind! Same for Snape who figured out about the flying car without Ron nor Harry mentioning this.

my rankings (books only) and why:
    7. Chamber of Secrets
-This book was amazing, but I feel like not much happened other than the end with the Chamber itself (the Quidditch, Polyjuice, and Gilderoy's backstory were great too)
    6. Order of the Phoenix
-I love this book too, but it's so long and there are some things that happen that I feel are not important. Some of my favorite parts of the series are in this book.
    5. Philosopher's Stone
-This book was an amazing introduction to the series, but as JK Rowling developed as a writer, her books improved.
    4. Half Blood Prince
-Voldemort's past and his story are so intriguing! Harry is super sassy in this book, and this is where Hinny truly starts. And even though Harry was sassy, he was also kind and light hearted... idk but he was great in this one!
    3. Prisoner of Azkaban
-The plot twist and everything was so well done, and the entire book kept me excited!
    2. Deathly Hallows
-Since it's the last book in the series, this is where it all goes down. Every singles scene is exhilarating and fun, and it really shows you how brave many of the characters are. I can't put all of my love into words!
    1. Goblet of Fire
-The Triwizard Tournament, the plot twist, the character development, and the darkening of the story are brilliant. This book is the first one of the series that ever made me cry. Cedric's death really symbolized that Voldemort was back and that he showed no mercy. Cedric was such a kind and compassionate character, and this was the first time we got to see a good character die. Harry is going through a lot throughout this book, and it's sad (yet somehow heartwarming) to see him deal with it all and act like it's the worst thing that could happen... but later on Cedric dies and Voldemort returns. This would be even longer if I had the time to fully express my love for this book.

Chamber of Secrets is so underrated in my opinion. The book was everything I loved about the first one but more, it added so much more to the world, and really built upon the magic
It really builds on the trio’s friendship, and the climax/twist is so thrilling and satisfying, and overall I think it’s an improvement from the first book
I feel the same about the movie, and it’s one of, if not the most accurate Harry Potter movie
Other than De-Gnoming the burrow, all of my favorite parts from the book are In the movie

The casting for the movies were 99 out of 100 of the times spot on. Imelda Staunton as Umbridge was absolutely perfect and I actually enjoyed the movie version of Slughorn more than the book version, Jim Broadbent played him perfectly. But throughout all of the movies the casting has always been amazing, the original trio, all of the teachers and of course, Dumbledore, Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom, Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood, Alan Rickman as Snape, and of course Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort. The casting was absolutely amazing.

I honestly hated both the book and movie. And lets be real, they can both be skipped completely and your only question would be: “Where is Sirius?” The entire book/movie is to boring because it is only making Harry and the viewers hate Umbrige and love Sirius only to then kill off Sirius later in the story. Plus the first like 200 pages of the book is so difficult to get through because nothing is happening. Anyways, I am happy that you can find this joy out of this book, I just need an explanation to why people think the fifth movie is one of the best, when I think it is like the 6th worst

@@jonathanfreeman5398 I love the acting performances throughout the movie, particularly Imelda as umbridge. She is such a compelling villain to me because she is so different from everything else in the series. She's this sugary sweet evil pink creature amid a sea of blander villains and I just find that fascinating. I also love how emotional and dark yet ultimately hopeful the tone is. The rebellion plot isn't anything new in ya fiction, but it somehow still feels fresh and exciting to me, and, while in the other movies I find the darker characters much more interesting than the protagonists, this story made the heroes more genuine and likable than they are in the rest of the series. Also, smaller details, but the soundtrack is my favorite out of all the films, and I really like the blue tint given to almost every scene. It adds to the moodiness and mysteriousness but also feels electric and exciting. It's my favorite book too, and watching the movie always makes me want to go back and read parts of the book haha. I get that it wouldn't be as interesting to some people, but as someone who loves to write and create people, this movie was rich in dynamic characterization to me. :)

It had a lot to live up to after the first movie and I feel like it did and great job of exploring the wizarding world and have real impactful plot points and story. It is by no means my favorite movie but I thought it would be more widely liked. Interesting

Nah I love Prisoner of Azkaban so much more than any of the other movies and books. I dislike how the Deathly Hallows movies covered the books, especially the final duel between Voldemort and Harry. Also I REALLY wish Voldy had his red eyes and the menacing hood from the books. I feel like his character would have felt more menacing (if that's even possible)

Yes i think CoS is also my favourite movie. Mainly because it's the most accurate book adaptation and is way darker and scarier than the first movie while still maintaining the "kids movie" style the first one has. Sure it has some cringe and unnecessary moments but it's so good at worldbuilding and I love the car scenes, the whomping willow scene, the spider scene (which is damn scary for a child movie), the creepy scenes where Harry hears the basilisk behind the walls, the scenes with Lockhart, the basilisk fight, the scene where they discover the entrance to the chamber (epic score by the master John Williams), Harrys arm without bones and the eerie scenes with the petrified students.
The only thing that bothers me is that Lucius Malfoy wants to kill Harry with Avada Kedavra at the end after he gave Dobby the diary with the sock. That isn't in the book and is just dumb anyway, because Malfoy is a death eater and knows that he isn't allowed to kill Harry, because Voldemort himself wants to do it.

My personal ranking from worst to best is
    1. the Deathly Hallows- I love this book 📕 because it shows the growth of all the main characters and how they overcome them. I also enjoy finding out more about Dumbledores past discovering who Grindelwald is and finding out what the Deathly Hallows are. It also shows us the tragedies and consequences of war Dobby’s death makes me cry every time as Well as Fred’s . Although I find Harry and Voldemort’s final battle to be slightly Anticlimactic I must admit that it is still an effective and powerful scene.
    2. The Half blood Prince- I love this book because it is filled with many enjoyable moments such as discovering the backstory of Voldemort and what Horcruxes are. I also love the development of Draco making us pity him. Dumbledores death is really effective devastating the audience and the battle of the astronomy 🔭tower. I also love Harry and Ginny’s first kiss in this book.
    3. Goblet of Fire- I love this book 📕 this is the book that got me even more hyped for this series. I think it’s plot points are done very well and the reveals were fantastic. I love Voldemort’s return and the reveal of Barty crouch Jr. I also love Dobby coming to work at Hogwarts and helping Harry through the tri-wizard tournament 🏟. I also respect ✊🏻 Hermione for creating S.P.E.W.
    4. The Prisoner of Azkaban- I love this book so much, it’s filled with many heart warming moments and exciting plot points. I love time ⏰ travel 🧳 so I was happy to see it here. I also love Harry finding a father figure in Lupin and fighting his fear of the Dementors. I also love the introduction of the Marauders map and discovering Peter Pettigrew was Hiding as Scabbers.
    5. The Philosophers stone- I by no means hate this book 📕 it is a really good book after all it’s the one that started it all. However compared to the other books it’s not my favourite though I love all the mysteries in the book and I love hagrid s introduction.
    6. The Chamber of Secrets- this is a really good book. I enjoyed reading every moment of it. I love the mystery of who is causing the attacks and why are they happening. I also love the introduction of the Horcrux. I really enjoy the part where Dumbledore comforts Harry about being a true Gryffindor and a brave young man.
    7. The Order of The Phoenix- I don’t hate this book 📕 I just feel that it is too long and it kind of drags out the plot of the book. I don’t enjoy Sirius in this book as he made it harder for me to feel sad about his death because he was so distant to Harry and he was a bit of a dick to him. It’s also a hard book to read through being 800 pages but over all it is actually a good book and there are moments I really enjoy, such as Dobby helping Harry find the Room of Requirement and how he takes all the clothes Hermione is making for the house elves. I really enjoy McGonagalls annoyance with Umbridge and how she swears to make Harry an Auror.
    For the films
    Deathly Hallows part 2
    Order of the Phoenix
    Prisoner of Azkaban
    Deathly Hallows part 1
    Chamber of Secrets
    Philosophers stone
    Half blood Prince
    Goblet of Fire 🔥
Overall I do not hate any of the books or films I love them all, I just feel some work better than others and you are inclined to disagree with me that is fine but this is my personal opinion. Xx

Yes the movie has its flaws, but the scenes that don’t dive too much into the relationships are great. Dumblexore and Harry visiting the locket cave is amazing. Harry and Slughorns interactions are great, especially the Felix scenes. Even though this book is one of the darker ones, I’m not angry at how funny the film is.
