My Flight in a C-17! | With Tactical Takeoff, Descent, and Landing | March Air Force Base, CA

  • This was one of the best aviation experiences of my life: the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly on a C-17 with the Aviation Explorers Post 352. It was about a 3 hour flight, much of it being along the coast. I was very surprised that they were able to do a tactical takeoff, descent, and landing for us. That's just something that you will not be able to be a part of very often.
They were also able to organize an air-to-air refueling during the flight. We were not in the cockpit when they were doing it, but we did get a nice view of the refueling plane above us!
Anyway, please enjoy! Be sure to subscribe if you haven't already, as much more videos are coming!

Did this going into Iraq twice. I was warned before the trip, but a lot of others weren’t. Everybody was asleep when the loadmaster started wearing. A HUGE grin and looking around. It was INTENSE

Yes landing into Balad was crazy especially if you never did it before or nobody warned you about it. I had no heads up and was gripping my seat wondering why the pilot was doing top gun moves in a C-17.

Landing in Mosul in 2006 my ears were about to explode because i had headphones instead of ear plugs in. I will never forget that pain.

I'm glad these had an actual closed off latrine, compared to the C-130's.

Last time I flew on a C-17 we had a 15 hour flight and right when the wheels left the ground I hear the load master say "btw the shitter is broken" 😂 way less bumpy assault landing than a C-130 though.

When I was in a JROTC (USAF) in the 80s we got to go on a KC-10, KC-135 and C-5 A galaxy. (Killer seeing the refueling from the other side.) That's awesome!! Glad you got to go.

You do make a fair point. But, I don't think we were flying that high, and not to mention that they should have some sort of heating in there...

@@bnsfrailfanr24csx16 typically, the Globemasters cruise altitude is 28,000ft. However, on lighter loads, maybe like this experience, they tend to cruise higher at around 32000ft give or take

That’s because the crew didn’t turn floor heat on 😆 when I went to Poland on a c17 we flew over the North Pole and I fell asleep on the floor and I woke up to the floor frosted over. Coming back they turned floor heat on and we all were sitting in our sand Ts

you should have set your camcorder to backlight mode from 0 to 3 minutes 40 seconds , it is dark inside the plane

tecknos africa that would have been a good idea, as there was a huge light difference in the beginning, unfortunately I didn't think to do that... Thanks for the advice though... 😊

    • @keithfreitas2983
      @keithfreitas2983 Před 11 měsíci

Short definition. Doing a takeoff and landing as quickly as possible and as short as possible.

is the plane full double deck or half double deck ?

    • @Ultimate_Aviator

tecknos africa it just has one deck. The cockpit is on a higher level, but there is only one set of seats.
