      Guess I got into RE too late. Gold frames is the only atm option if you want tan. Tan/brown/bronze is my favorite tint, and gunmetal is my fav finish. That must be a nice combo

    I have the Aviator and Concorde in 58 and 61, respectively. Beautiful glass polarized shades. However, they are HEAVY so you notice them on your face. Because of that, my Maui Jim Mavericks are much more comfortable, haha.

      Yes those glass lenses definitely can get heavy for extended use

    I wish Randolph Engineering made a narrow version of the Aviator with a 18mm or even 16mm bridge. The 20mm bridge can be too wide for some people, like me. It just doesn't look good with that gap. I have several aviator style metal rimmed sunglasses that are 17mm and 18mm and it's just about perfect. The Concorde has a smaller bridge and I think they look better on your face.

    • @vincidesign6039
      @vincidesign6039 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Yes, I agree with you that the 20mm bridge of Aviator is too wide on my face. That is the reason why I choose Concorde

    Aviator and Hawk. Thaden would be great if they made more colors.
    Actually... Randolph would be better off if they actually offered more frames with more lens options. They run their business in a way that I just don't get. Meanwhile Maui jim: click and customize.

    • @ShadeReview
      @ShadeReview  Před rokem +6

      About 10 - 15 years ago you could actually customize them on there website. But once they started printing model / colorway numbers on the frames it complicated things

      @minitrudy Před 3 měsíci +1

      I am a big fan of the Thaden, perfect size for my face. I also own the aviators (cobalt lens and hydro blue). I was at the Randolph store/factory and asked why the Thaden did not offer a glass lens option. The woman I spoke to said she and the other women that work there have suggested the same. I wrote to them as a consumer and hope they consider doing so. If they did, I would buy another Thaden with gray glass lens.

    • @didamnesia3575
      @didamnesia3575 Před 3 měsíci

      @minitrudy the actual reason is simpler and boring. The owner is an older large man with a huge melon of a head. No small sizes of anything worthwhile. He might be the nicest guy in the world, but he's stuck in the past. Their sister brand makes shooting glasses, and they sell them for 800$. An absolute ripoff. Owner is a country club boomer, (and that's ok) to market to that. But that's what it is... IMHO.
      Could also be margins. A lot of businesses go under when they expand too much
