      The Rudy trade was still a bad trade because they gave up too much.
      And it still may cost them Ant in the long run. Minnesota did what Cleveland did with LeBron in terms of team building. Bron wasn’t sticking around to play with 34 year old Ben Wallace or 37 year old Shaq.
      Betting that Ant will be better than Bron or MJ at 22, 23, 24 is just a dumb bet

      @@tompaul1608 And they're gonna let him walk? He's going to opt out next summer and sign one more big deal.
      And Gobert is really good but I'm not sure he's *that* much better than Walker Kessler to cost 5 firsts + Beasley + Vanderbilt. Although they really got bailed out by getting NAW in the D'Lo trade. He solved any potential depth issues.
      Also I'm not 100% sure Minnesota is going to pay the tax the next 10 years during Ant's prime. Just makes me nervous what this team will look like when Ant's extension is up. But I put a lot into the idea that stars peak at 27 not 22.
      The biggest thing with Beal is he didn't waive his no trade clause which severely limits their maneuverability.
      Although it's funny how many people are saying it's such a disaster because Phoenix lost two road games while simultaneously taking a victory lap on Gobert working in year two after not working in year one.

      @roronoazorro9509 Před 12 dny

      @WinnnProductions if they don't win a title, it will be a bad trade. This is partly because after Gobert declines, they likely won't be contenders throughout the rest of Ants prime. (Unless some good free agents choose to go to Minny, which has never happened)
      Say what you want about picks in the 20s, but having picks and more importantly controlling your own draft, is waaay better than not having any picks. Minnesota should know this after losing 5 years worth of picks in the Joe smith debacle which ruined their ability to build around KG in his prime.

    Because of Lebron, the reality of everyone's timelines has been unrealistically skewed. It is really late in KD's career, 17 years in the league, even if his stats are holding up. Booker is at the end of year 9, which is also getting way too late for him to START a run of dominance, especially when it isn't clear if he is "The Man" or playing BEHIND KD.
    The new style of play, rules, and load management help extend the past-prime years for superstars and the stats look pretty, but it is delusional to expect anyone to be "The guy" after year 12 or so, or to suddenly BECOME "the guy" after 7+ years of coddling them for "the future". By year 8, the cement is dry, you can't be holding back so you don't get injured for your 3rd and 4th contracts or your true peak prime never even has a chance to develop. New Orleans AD looked almost ready to go over the top in 2018 2019 then he saw Cousins go down with an achilles and got involved in Lebron trade drama. So instead of going full-potential he got slowed down by LeGM and agents coddling him for "his future", which, as a result, never comes - or in AD's case came in a diminished version in Lebron's shadow. Now you have him finally looking like he is trying hard in year 12, but that drive needed to be smacked into him 5 years ago.

I felt our ceiling was Western Conference Finals but that to me was the absolute ceiling but I honestly thought they would get eliminated first or second round. The idea of making Book the point was and is a terrible idea. Just because a guy can do something doesn't mean he should be doing that thing. Book can play the point but Book is a scorer, it's who he is and he's good at it, that's where you want his mindset to be, not being a facilitator. Book at point is just an average point guard and it dilutes who he is as a scorer so you get the worst of both worlds. Beal is a good sixth man now who we have as a starter, there is no offensive system, they don't play good defense despite having a defensive coach. It's once again an owner learning that having talented players doesn't equate to a great team and for whatever reasons owners have to keep learning this lesson over and over.
