Great song! Barbra Streisand is one of the true mega stars. She has spanned over 6 decades of music. This lady has a fabulous voice & can sing many genres of music. She is a singer, actress & filmmaker & one of the few performers to have received awards in multiple fields of entertainment (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony). Love the musicals she was in especially "Funny Girl" & "Hello Dolly". She has so many great songs that were hits & she has done numerous duets with famous people.
This was written by Barry and Robin Gibb, of The Bee Gees. Barbra asked Barry to write an album for her. The Guilty album was her 22nd studio album, and her most successful. Both the song and album reached #1. Barry, with some co-writing with Robin and Maurice, wrote all the songs. He also produced it. Barry and Barbra sing two duets Guilty, and What Kind of Fool. There’s a wonderful live performance of both duets sung back to back at an outdoor concert at Barbra’s home. All of The Bee Gees did backing vocals on various songs, Barry being the most prominent.
I highly suggest Guilty & What Kind of Fool from their live '86 performance in Barbra's backyard! Many channels have reacted to them, & I don't believe they've ever been blocked. And the audio is great from the performance, I promise! Also, only Barry sang backing vocals on the Guilty LP, plus others they wrote for. The twins never sang backing on others' albums.
Barry and Robin Gibb wrote the song and Barry produced it. The entire album was written by Barry and his brothers. You can really recognize the Gibbs Bros. "sound" in the whole album.
@@kthor - Yes, 5 songs out of 9, Four by Barry and Robin and one by all three brothers. One by Barry alone and 3 by Barry and Albhy. Produced by Barry, Albhy and Karl.
OMG! Your face when she holds that note is priceless!!!! Definitely worth the price of admission. I was born in 1971 and knew this song when it first came out. My Auntie had the 45. I knew even then this is what love should feel like
I've a Barbra fan since 1969 when I saw Funny Girl. A few of my favorite performances: "He Touched Me" (sung live in her "Happening in Central Park" concert), "A Piece of Sky" (the closing song from her movie "Yentl", "Somewhere" (music video), "My Man" (closing song from the movie "Funny Girl", "Send in the Clowns" sung live at her 1986 concert "One Voice". Just to name a few!
These Barbra reactions are giving me LIFE! So happy you have fallen in love with her - she’s the best to ever do it and this generation needs to know! ❤
Hi, she did not sing this song live a lot. I was there in Amsterdam when she did sing only a small part as encore. If you search at CZcams for Sterisand - Amersdam - Ziggo dome you will find it. Everyons sang with her. It was a very special moment. Thanks for your reactions!!
Barbra Streisand is one of the most multi-talented female artists of the past 100 years: acting, directing and of course singing in her fantastic and unique voice. If you ever will react to movies, too, you should watch her movies "A Star Is Born", "Funny Girl", "Yentl", "The Way We Were", "What's Up, Doc?", "The Main Event". She is a fabulous singer on her own, but has collaborated with many big names, like The BeeGees and then especially oldest brother Barry Gibb. "Woman in Love" is a song from her best selling album "Guilty" that Barry (and his brothers, but mainly he) made for and with Barbra Streisand not only revitalized her album sales, but revitalized the record industry as a whole. The album was a total sensation and sold so many copies world wide, so quickly after its release, it was like the records were handed out for free. Two huge showbizz names teaming up together was a big thing back in 1980. Initially the Gibbs were asked to "write a song" for Barbra. They wrote several and Barbra liked them so much that the idea for doing a whole album was born. The Gibb brothers wrote all the songs for that album. In fact, they wrote many more, so Barbra picked her favorite ones of the dozens of songs she was presented with. Barry sang 2 duets with Barbra on the album. The title song "Guilty" (album version czcams.com/video/Phh9B1-4EYs/video.html / live version: czcams.com/video/h27J_95OtQA/video.html) and "What kind of fool?" (album version: czcams.com/video/hfIR9NCcUKI/video.html / live version: czcams.com/video/3vi2RSWKfRQ/video.html). But most of the songs on the album had Barry's backing vocals and that special BeeGees sound to them. On Woman in Love Barry only plays the acoustic guitar. Background vocals are by Denise Maynelli, Myrna Mathews and Marti McCal. You should listen to the entire album, it's a classic. And the whole music business, including all the big stars, were starstruck by this duo as you can see in this clip czcams.com/video/pR1q_lPAzVg/video.html. After this album, the BeeGees produced albums for Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers and Diana Ross among others, for whom they also wrote all the songs. Most of these albums became best sold albums of these artists, too.
I guess the longest time I heard someone holding a high note, was she at the end of the song “A Piece of Sky” (the studio version from the “Yentl” movie soundtrack). My friend, is hear to never forget! You’ll be mesmerized!!!! 🤪👍
Two months ago?! Guess I am a little late here! Lol! Everyone has said pretty much everything about this song and answered your questions. I just wanted to throw in that I always felt that everything about this song was very primal. From its heartbeat-like bass, driving guitar rhythm, to her lyrics, especially in the chorus. Very seductive in a very primal, tribal-like behavior... "I am a woman in love and I'll do anything to get into my world and hold you within!" And when she goes for those big wailing notes on "It's a right I defend!", they're also very gut-wrenchingly primal in nature. When this song came out, it was a huge hit for a wide range of people. Didn't matter who you were, what age you were or where you were from, it struck a primal chord in all of us.
Barbra Streisand never sang this song live when it was populair in the 80's but she did sang this song during her little European tour in 2013 when she was visiting the Netherlands because i was there and maybe in some other European country's, but she sang two other songs live in the 80's both were duets with Barry Gibb "Guilty" and "What Kind Of Fool" who also wrote these songs with Robin Gibb (The Bee Gees). This was and still is Barbra best selling album in her career, and the note that she holds so long was about 11-13 seconds long, but she can hold her notes much longer for 23 seconds example if you will watch her song "A Piece Of Sky" from the 1983 movie "Yentl" she sang this song as the final end of the movie it will give you chills. 😏czcams.com/video/DMGA327uslw/video.html
'Woman in Love' is Barbra's biggest hit, it reached number one in 23 countries. Interesting fact, she doesn't like the song and explains in details why in her recently published auto biography. As result, she has rarely performed it live. You will find a couple of videos of her "loosely" performing it live (although not in its entirety) at the insistence of the crowd but it sounds nothing like the studio version which is the definite and ultimate version in my opinion. She is a master at holding endless notes. Check out her song 'A piece of sky' from the movie 'Yentl' which she co wrote, co produced, directed and stared in. She holds a note for about 20 seconds which is truly spectacular.
I'm a 72 yr old woman whose love of music has been my therapy my entire life. Barbra Streisand is one of the most amazing singer, actress, producer, she's a gem! She's in a league of her own! FYI, the entire album is fire 👍😊🎵🎵I
Her breath control is still amazing on the new song she released earlier this year. It’s a ballad but like all Barbra songs, if you listen closely, you’re thinking how did she hold that note so long? At 82 years old too! I have every album and soundtrack. She’s the best recording artist in American history imo.
All you need is audio when you listen to Barbra ♥ I have always loved this song. ALL bangers on this album, worth your while to do them all really! [Please always do the audio first with this artist!]
Also: Please do other songs recorded by other artists that The Bee Gees wrote. Some include: If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) -- went to #1 Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand)- went to #1!. They won a Grammy for best song by a group or duo for Guilty. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons) - went to #1. In fact, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD with Barry doing a lot of background vocals. Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on this CD too. This was her best selling CD! The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Andy's 3 released solo songs all went to #1!
Your expression listening her breathe is priceless. If you listen " Bedore the Parade passes By " from the movie " Hello Dolly " you see the same... the whole parede finishes singing and she keeps goin alone with her breath ♡ ;))
@SaeedReacts. can you make a video rection of one of my fav brasilian signers Maria Gadu singing " Mundo Liquido " bro ? Have a feeling you gonna love it ♡ ;)) I'd like to see your reaction on live 😊
Barbra is known for being able to hold a note longer than almost any other person. I have seen her live in concert twice in my life, and I can guarantee there is no splicing a note together, it’s pure drive and talent. Off the top of my head there are a couple more songs where Barbra holds a note even longer. Try, A Piece of Sky, from her movie Yentl. Or there is a great duo with Donna Summer called, Enough is an Enough (No More Tears). Love to see your reactions to both. Thanks
Love reaction videos such as yours, and loved your wide-eyed reaction when Barbra held that word "all" in the second verse for 15 full seconds. Hearing that always sends chills up my spine. I totally disagree with her politics but think I saw her circa 1976 movie with Kris Kristofferson, "A Star Is Born," about 15 times when I was in high school in the mid-'70s. I think she's one of the greatest United States vocalists of all time, right up there with Karen Carpenter.
Try her: "Somewhere" from 'West Side Story "Memory" from 'Cats' "The Way We Were" from the '73 movie of the same name "Evergreen" from 'A Star is Born, '76
Barbara and Barry did great duets plus he and The Bee Gees wrote most the songs. Also a lot for her individual Barbara is an Icon. It’s wonderful that you’re finally showcasing her unmatched talent.
You want a long note? Listen to Barbra's A Piece of Sky from the 80's movie Yentyl, she wrote and starred in with Alan and Marilyn Bergman writing the songs. Outstanding!
Dude seriously, don't know how I ended up here but I'm grateful now. Your face expressions really makes me feel the music in another level making me feel how I felt the first time I heard and still do. You are beautiful ♡ 》《 《 SUBSCRIBED 》》
Bought this album on release and I still love it. Not a bad track on it. Her voice is incredible and as always, Bee Gees songwriting is amazing. You should also check out the 2 duets on the album that she did with Barry Gibb - Guilty and What Kind Of Fool
Yes, ALWAYS do the official studio version first if you don't know the song, then you can appreciate how well they can recreate it live without all the studio editing. The ONLY exception to this is if the version that became a hit or was the first many knew WAS the live version, such as Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" or Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me".
There's a blast from the past! I played the crap out of this album when it came out in 1980. What young gay boy didn't! 🙂 I was 22 and Babs was an icon.
I strongly suggest the title song from this album, Guilty. There's a fantastic live version with Barry Gibb and Barbara singing together. Go to this video title: Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb - Guilty - Live 1986 HQ - (With lyrics in Description)
Since you love the music and lyrics, why not react to some of The Bee Gees music? They write this entire album for Barbra and they write for other artists too and all their own music as well. --------------------- I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of these, but here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: Too Much Heaven (R&B) How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard) Staying Alive (disco) Night Fever (disco) You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco) Fanny be tender with my love (R&B) Jive Talking (R&B) Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk) Tragedy (Techno? Pop) More than a woman (Disco/R&B) Love you inside out (Funk/pop) To love somebody (R&B) Massachusetts (pop/country) Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special) Alone (pop) Love So Right (R&B) Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour) Lonely Days (pop) You Win Again (pop) Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B) Kiss of Life (rock) One (pop) Wedding Day (pop) Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country) Bodyguard (R&B) For Whom the Bell Tolls (pop) Blue Island - live (pop) Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop) Secret Love (pop) This is Where I Came in (live) (pop)
In the video you ask if there is a definitive live version. The answer is No. She never sang it in her prime when it would have been so incredible as a live performance. She sang it on one tour where she raced through it and didn't seem to give it the respect it deserved. I always wanted her to sing it live in the 80's. Love your reactions.
"Guilty" is a great album and was a huge success. Some will recommend Barry and Barbra's live versions of "Guilty" and "What Kind of Fool", which are wonderful, but I prefer the studio versions. Half the magic of the album was the Bee Gees-infused sound brought by Barry, his production team and the musicians assembled to create it. When they sang together for a fundraiser in 1986 in Barbra's backyard it,of course, lacks those musical elements--it was Barbra's guys assembled for that event. A thrill to see them together live to be sure, but the full magic of Barbra's voice married to Barry's and that glittering pop sound of the Bee Gees as created in the studio is perfection.
I implore you to listen to 'Make It Like a Memory' 'I Never Has Seen Snow' 'Prisoner' 'One Less Egg to Fry/A House is Not a Home' medley, some are live others a video. Of course, there a many more, but these will provide a glimpse of her genius.
Barbra Streisand is an EGOT, she has received an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony awards, multiple fir most I believe. She's been on Broadway, acted in movies, served as writer/producer/director/actor of her movie Yentl, a very talented woman, the GOAT
Not requesting a reaction vid, but if you wanted to just augment your appreciation for this woman's incredible voice and expressive range....her song "The Love Inside" would complete the task and your work would finally be done with this artist, given that you're probably a busy chap....with lots of demands on your time. It is worth that extra listen, even if you don't make a reaction vid to it. 😀
Thanks for that recommendation and for the considerate words as well! Means a lot. I just recorded a reaction to her Disney Medley at the MGM show, that was magical as well. Hope to get that video uploaded soon.
You're Dutch?! Great... I'm a musician in England and my favourite band from your country is.....FOCUS! I think you should review 'Hocus Pocus' which is a weird, wonderful and spectacular classic! (I'm sure you knew that already!) Thanks!
@@SaeedReacts. - Please don't do just the usual "disco" era stuff but earlier and later songs too. They did many genres and all three did lead vocals and performed from the 1960's to the 20000's. A few for each - Barry - Words. (Ed Sullivan show). Robin - I started a Joke (live in Melbourne "One for all" tour 1989). Maurice - Closer than close ("One night only" concert). Songs featuring them together....For whom the bell tolls (New York outdoor version), Alone (studio version), Bodyguard, When he's gone, You win again, Secret Love. Just a few of over 1000 songs they wrote. Maybe the best sample to acquaint yourself with the brothers featuring the voices of all three together and apart is their "Medley....1989...One for all concert" in Melbourne. That will let you sample each brother alone and together. They had 22 studio LP's not counting their solo LP's.
Do yourself the favor of listening to another song co-written by Barry Gibb, “Make it Like a Memory”- last song on Guilty album. She certainly makes it memorable- my favorite of all her songs. Thank you so much!
Not as pyrotechnic as this one, but for another song the Gibbs wrote for a renowned female singer, listen to Immortality, written for and sung by Céline Dion...
Please react "what kind of fool", Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb alive. Is from this album guilty, wroten by bee gees for her. It's for dying for. 3 kisses from Portugal. Ana
Time and again, while watching music videos I get frustrated by the reactor focusing mainly on the band behind the singer and not listening to the words of the song. If the words weren’t important it would be an instrumental. Granted, the sound can capture or peak your interest, but the words drive home a point, a lesson, an emotional, an experience. Thank you for listening to not just the music, but the message as well. I don’t see that often in reaction videos, and I wish more reactors would talk about the words more and share their experience of what the song is doing to them.
You've heard nothing yet. Spanning 60 yrs of work. She hit every note.
People would ask Barbra how she could hold notes that long - and she said because she wanted to - she demanded it of herself.
The texture of her voice is magnificent. The tone, the resonance,.. everything. And the passion she possesses!! My goodness.
so happy you're diving into barbra's catalogue. she's untouchable.
Legendary artist. Definitely checking out more.
My closed fist goes up in rebellion every time she sings " It's a right I defend!" Powerful stuff !!!

My favorite Streisand song. Thanks for the reaction.
Great song. Thanks for watching.
I was never the same after hearing that 11 seconds note from this song….. I can’t stop listening to it it’s so mesmerizing
Thank you for Barbra Streisand Women in Love
All natural talent. Makes her an Icon.

These Barbra reactions are giving me LIFE! So happy you have fallen in love with her - she’s the best to ever do it and this generation needs to know! ❤

@SaeedReacts. can you make a video rection of one of my fav brasilian signers Maria Gadu singing " Mundo Liquido " bro ? Have a feeling you gonna love it ♡ ;)) I'd like to see your reaction on live 😊
The Bee Gees wrote this and performed it in the background with Barbra. That s Barry Gibb on the cover.
It was written by Barry & Robin, & just Barry on backing vocals.
Thanks
Thats amazing that you have seen her live a few times. Looking forward to more of her music. Thanks for watching and the recommendations.
That was an amazing moment! Thanks so much for watching.
Try her:
"Somewhere" from 'West Side Story
"Memory" from 'Cats'
"The Way We Were" from the '73 movie of the same name
"Evergreen" from 'A Star is Born, '76
Barbara and Barry did great duets plus he and The Bee Gees wrote most the songs. Also a lot for her individual Barbara is an Icon. It’s wonderful that you’re finally showcasing her unmatched talent.
In my opinion Barbra Streisand is the original Goat. If you'd like a Broadway vibe, she recorded Memory from the Broadway play Cats. It. Is. Epic!
Will check it out!
4:50 Awesome!! She showed you her power. Watching you be blown away was great! 😅 ... this huge respect overtaking you. Cool.
Incredible artist.
You should check out her duet with Neil Diamond - You Don't Bring Me Flowers
Will add it to my list. Thank you!
Thanks so much for being here and subscribing.
Truly an amazing song.
Bought this album on release and I still love it. Not a bad track on it. Her voice is incredible and as always, Bee Gees songwriting is amazing. You should also check out the 2 duets on the album that she did with Barry Gibb - Guilty and What Kind Of Fool
Thanks for the recommendations! Will add these to my list
@@SaeedReacts. Thank you for the response. That entire album is awesome. Looking forward to seeing your reactions.
In English we would say "belt it out" or "let loose" or "let it rip".
Thanks! Very helpful!
Thanks for the advice !
There's a blast from the past! I played the crap out of this album when it came out in 1980. What young gay boy didn't! 🙂 I was 22 and Babs was an icon.
Excellent song by a true icon!
and still is :)
Wait until he hears “make our garden grow” (her never released, live, studio recording) or “piece of sky” if he’s impressed with that long note.
Those are on my to do list 😃
I strongly suggest the title song from this album, Guilty. There's a fantastic live version with Barry Gibb and Barbara singing together. Go to this video title: Barbra Streisand & Barry Gibb - Guilty - Live 1986 HQ - (With lyrics in Description)
Thanks for the recommendation! Will add it to my list.
One of the few singing voices on the planet that gives me goosebumps every single time. What a set of pipes!
A Barry Gibb song. (BeeGees) They have an enormous catalogue.
Definitely will check out their musis as well.
Since you love the music and lyrics, why not react to some of The Bee Gees music? They write this entire album for Barbra and they write for other artists too and all their own music as well.

Yes! I actually asked for recommendations on my patreon for The Bee Gees, because i wanted to start reacting to them. Thanks so much for these!
Love seeing how ur channels growing mate! Congrats! U seem like a really nice & genuine bloke & I'm really happy for u😊
Thanks so much for saying that. Means a lot! ❤️
@@SaeedReacts. All good mate ❤
No having to wear practically nothing to get attention like female singers do today because most have very little talent. Her voice is all she needs.
👌 ❤
This is so classic. Please react to her duet with Celine Dion : Tell him 🙏
Will check it out.
Thanks for letting me know. Would have been amazing to see and hear that.
Thanks for watching! Have a great day.
Barbra won yet another Grammy (ten total in her career so far) as Best Female Vocalist for this recording.
As long as that note is, it is not half as long as the one she holds on A Piece of the Sky! Check the video to that one!
That one is on my todo list.
Listen to "Memory" or "Somewhere" she is the GOAT!
Thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this! Looking forward to discover more of her music and also want to check out The Bee Gees.
Great comment on explaining the collaboration between Barbra & Barry!
@@kthor Yeah, it's like a recipe that needs *all* the ingredients to go from tasty to delicious.
Love love this song she is amazing! Her vocals are impressive !❤😊
I implore you to listen to 'Make It Like a Memory' 'I Never Has Seen Snow' 'Prisoner' 'One Less Egg to Fry/A House is Not a Home' medley, some are live others a video. Of course, there a many more, but these will provide a glimpse of her genius.
Thanks for the recommendations.
I think the First Lady of the great voices ❤C
Thats a great description!
Written by Barry Gibb BEE Gees
Now i get the name 😃
I Have this album in old record version . I am a fan of this lady this great singer. and actress favorite movie Whats up doc Barbra is incompatible

Thanks for the recommendations! Definitely want to check out The Bee Gees.
@@SaeedReacts.Yes please, & do the official video as it has great audio!
There is a live version.
Will look it up. Thanks for letting me know.
Written by the Bee Gees
The word you're looking for might be "belting" in English.
Yes! That was it. Thanks so much 🙏🏽
You're Dutch?! Great... I'm a musician in England and my favourite band from your country is.....FOCUS! I think you should review 'Hocus Pocus' which is a weird, wonderful and spectacular classic! (I'm sure you knew that already!) Thanks!
Barbara and Barry did great duets plus he and The Bee Gees wrote most the songs. Also a lot for her individual
Have you ever hears of " Lulu"? She was married to one of the beegees and they did some bruising music together
The name sounds familiar, but not sure. Will have to look her up.
👍👌👍
THANK YOU TRY BARBARA AND ANDY GIBB FROM BEE GEES IN CONCERT.
Do you mean Barbra & Barry Gibb?
.... wait.... you haven't heard The BeeGees???😮
I know Stayin Alive, but dont think i know many other songs. So i definitely want to explore more of their music.
@@SaeedReacts. - Please don't do just the usual "disco" era stuff but earlier and later songs too. They did many genres and all three did lead vocals and performed from the 1960's to the 20000's. A few for each -
Barry - Words.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Your English is excellent, by the way.
Thank you!
Listen to her version of Somewhere from West Side Story. It will blow your mind.
I did! That reaction is now on the channel.
Not as pyrotechnic as this one, but for another song the Gibbs wrote for a renowned female singer, listen to Immortality, written for and sung by Céline Dion...
Do more Barbra Streisand, you have a 60 Year catalog to explore. Try the Wet album version of Enough is Enough duet with Donna Summer,
Definitely will check out more of her music !
Please react "what kind of fool", Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb alive. Is from this album guilty, wroten by bee gees for her. It's for dying for. 3 kisses from Portugal. Ana
Will add that one to my list. Thanks so much.
I think you would love, whether on your channel or in private, both "Prisoner" and "Kiss Me In The Rain".
I will add those to my list. Thanks for the recommendations!
gbs wrote it n sang on it, bgs r hit makers/legends
Please react to her live performance of "Send In The Clowns
"
Will add it to my list. Thanks!
I remember buying the single 🥰 another one you should hear is Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion singing " Tell Him" incredible performance
Thanks for the recommendation! Excited to explore more of her music.
It's the one around a piano in recording studio 🙏🏼 I'd say Barbra Streisand is top 3 singers in the world
She did the original "A star is born" with Chris christophisan sorry for the atrocious spelling 😂😂
Please react to TOO MUCH HEAVEN by the BEEGEES thanks
That one is on my to do list. Thanks so much.
Barbra didn’t do many live performances until late in her career (or at the start).
Donna Summer and Barbara's song No More Tears(Enough Is Enough.)
You need to react to Barbra Streisand's "A Piece of Sky" from her movie Yentl. You'll be left with your mouth wide open.
That one is on my todo list.
Yay!! 😁
Look to Cyndi Lauper
LIVE Change of Heart (at Last Tour)
Time and again, while watching music videos I get frustrated by the reactor focusing mainly on the band behind the singer and not listening to the words of the song. If the words weren’t important it would be an instrumental. Granted, the sound can capture or peak your interest, but the words drive home a point, a lesson, an emotional, an experience. Thank you for listening to not just the music, but the message as well. I don’t see that often in reaction videos, and I wish more reactors would talk about the words more and share their experience of what the song is doing to them.
I love language and great lyrics. And i agree, if the words were not important they wouldnt be there.
An amazing song!
Thanks so much for watching.
