    You can extend the life of these if you're not going to be using them for the full 8 to 10 hours by putting the pair of warmers in a zip-lock sandwich bag, squeeze out the air, zip it closed.
    I have gotten a week out of one pair since I go out for an hour in the morning to walk with my cat. Come in, put them in the bag for this evening's walk of about the same duration. So far, have gotten 6 days! I keep them in my jacket pockets, too much exposure to the air will cause them to die out earlier. Stay warm out there folks! I keep a healthy supply of these in my car's trunk.

    If you only use them for a couple hours, put them in a zip lock bag and they can be used again and will fire right back up when you take them out of the zip lock bag.

      I just bought some for hunting. Lets say I put them in a bag, how many uses will I get? No sense in throwing them away, if they still work! It says theres water in them; maybe water eventually evaporates?

    • @Tsch6373
      @Tsch6373 Před 3 lety +1

      @@turtleman5111 just put them in a zip - lock sandwich bag. Squeeze out the air. No need to be concerned with what's in it. It'll rejuvenate next time you need it. These are extremely helpful up here in Minnesota. We've gotten colder than Antarctica at times (seriously), and these hand and foot warmers really are a life saver. They're also a really good addition to a first-aid kit if you end up dealing with frostbite or hypothermia. And for $5, you really can't go wrong with something like this.

    These saved me many times during those long, wet, windy, and cold shifts standing outside all day. I put 2 in each pocket, and they last for about 6 hours. I rub them in my hands when I need them to get hotter. I have them everywhere in my car now.

  • @oldtimerlee8820

    Yes, toss some in go & get-home bags. Then, stash some more in the utility room. Over the last week, power failures have been common along the eastern seaboard, with snow from Florida to Canada. Especially useful for those who do not have fireplaces, kerosene/propane space heaters in winter grid down situations.

    I just thought of another great winter survival tool, Milwaukee has their heated hoodies/jackets that run off the same 12volt battery system their tools use. You take your 12volt battery, connect it to your power source adapter and then plug it into the jacket and tuck the battery away in the pocket. While this isn't anything new, the cool part is that Milwaukee redesigned their power source adapter to where you can recharge your battery from the adapter itself, so you can take your favorite solar recharging tool to recharge your battery for constant heat. Plus the batteries are compact enough that you could keep several fully charged in a bugout bag

    Sootch, I use both the toe and hand warmers...great. When shooting I wear fingerless gloves stick a mega warmer on the back of hand (where the arteries run close to surface) then over mitts (with hole for trigger finger) with a hand warmer dropped in Palm area. Toe warmers and if just dam bitter cold here in the Great Lakes State I will put a full foot warmer in my mucklucks or winter boots. Feet stay warm about 7 hours. Hands longer. Down side is cost $6 to $10 bucks for a day. I also write date on individual package and use them up that year. Any that are in my hunt pack or jacket get used first the following fall. Best

So I have four heaters ready without having to look for em, they sit there even when hiking about...if i lose my pack I have a day and night to figure it out . I also store 2 extra hand warmers in each of my winter mitts. Minus 20°F minus wind chill last night, balmy 7F this am. Best

    Use them at the bottom of my sleeping bag during elk hunting season. Nice and toasty.

    Wonderful video by the way. Anyway, I tried the foot warmers today. It said it would last 8 hours but it only lasted me three hours. Does anyone have any trouble with these bubbling up? Mine did, however they did get extremely hot they were almost burning my feet and I had to attach to the outside of my sock. It is possible that it was just that particular pair it didn't work right so I'll try the whole package seven packs come in it.

    I honestly did not know that they make toe warmers too! I needed those because my toes always freezes up and becomes painful when it gets too cold.

    My coat has zipped pockets in the kidney section. If you can keep a mass of your core warm, the rest will stay warm due to blood flow. Nice idea for working out side or sitting on the deer stand all day. My wife stashes them everywhere. We had the -30 here and several days bellow zero the entire day. If you want a safe zone just stay here for the winter. Even the dumbest crook won't go out in this.

    Between these and my Zippo warmer I've been able to keep my hands and fingers warm this winter here in northern Illinois.
