I just found your channel and I hope you keep posting videos.....I just started carving, 65 year old Granny, lol, I Love it.....Your wood looks so soft and white, I use basswood but it is not as soft and is yellowish in color and wood flakes off the nose and eyebrows and I have to start all over on carvings, so frustrating, not sure if it is me or the wood but small details seem to splinter off all the time.....Thank you for posting videos which are so very helpful in many ways.....How many years have you been carving? You are a Master carver!
It's been two years since I carved a tree. I was like you when I was a beginner. If you practice step by step with care not to get hurt, you will be a better carver than me in two years!

I love OCCT knives. I have a helvie too but very difficult to come by. OCCT are quality and readily available
Getting an OCCT knife for Christmas, 1 1/2 inch. Hope it’s as good as people say it is.

Awesome job! I was wondering how you sharpen your knives? I use a leather strop but it seems like I can never get them as sharp as yours look to be. I do 30 strokes and it still doesn't seem to be sharp enough.
I only use leather strops. Do you use softwood(Basswood)? I hope your problem will be resolved as soon as possible. Thank you!
