    This reset procedure for this Sharp model LC-70LE733U doesn't always repair the cause of problem, but in this case it was good enough to keep my customer happy., and it saved him a bundle on repair costs. Another example showing the value of Mikes TV Repair Histories. This TV wasn't mentioned in his book, but it mentioned how to do a reset on similar Sharp models, and fortunately this procedure also worked to this model. With the TV unplugged you press the input button and the volume down button on the TV while plugging in the AC cord. Doing this enabled the display to come on, but the TV had to be turned off and on again to bring up the correct user menu. As long as the AC power to the TV isn't interrupted this TV will continue to operate trouble free, but if there is a power failure, or the TV is unplugged this reset procedure will need to be redone.
    For those interested in Mike's TV Repair Histories here is a link to his book. www.mikestvtips.com/index.php?...

IT WORKS. shut it off and unplugged it ... Plugged it back in and IT STILL WORKS! I owe you a Beer Thanks... Make that a CASE of beer

    Thank you! I just experienced this on a Sharp LC70LE733U. Couldn't figure out why the power indicator light was flashing and the monitor was not responding. Your video along with the permanent fix comment were lifesavers. We use the monitor on a portable cart and it was set up in our Executive Dining Room this morning when I discovered the problem. It worked just this past Friday afternoon when I set it up for today's meeting.

    Thank you for the info. You saved the exact TV from becoming e-waste. My parents had many people look at it, and was told to buy a new TV. They were told it would be to expensive to fix.

    Thank you, Thank you and Thank you for such a wonderful tip.... I had even set up an appointment today to have a tech come at home..... and this morning I found this video that specifically provides an alternate way to reset the power than replacing the more complex power supply/board..... works beautifully and as you right said it is good enough in many situations like mine. Glad you were able to connect those TV repair tips and blend that into a video with such nice explanation that made me reset the TV in matter of minutes. A Big Thank You !

    Hi, thank you so much for posting this video!!!
    I just had the same issue happen with my Sharp Aquos Quattron 70" #LC-LE7032U, I called sharp today and they had to try some reset buttons and i got nothing, they then referred me to a repair guy. I called the repair guy and told him the issue and he said he knew the problem and had 6 TVs in his shop with the same issue in the last 6 months, He said its not good news and that the Panel has gone. He said that sharp now uses a cheap Panel and this is a common issue, and a costly one. He said best case scenario would be him finding a refurbished panel, that would cost about $2100 Canadian, but none were available, and apparently no New panels were available either.. He told me the TV was basically ready to be recycled. That is when I started doing some research and found your post!!! I tried the rest option you described and it just worked, I haven't given it enough time to make sure it stays working like this, but at least it turned on, which means the screen isn't burnt out like I'm being told. I am still pretty upset with Sharp as I was a big fan of there products up until now, this is my third Sharp TV and my newest, biggest and most expensive costing me over $4k Canadian, after only 3 years of lite use for this to happen is outrageous, Sharp should stand by there products when they find lemons.

    I appreciate the work around fix, thanks! I'm not a repair man, just a frustrated consumer. When my TV started flashing the "Morse Code" for SOS :-) I thought I was done for. My wife searched out this fix online and we were back up in no time. I will mention that this is a "master reset" of sorts, so it clears out everything. You'll have to do the initial setup and channel scan.
    If you ever found out the permanent fix and would like to share it, please do. I don't lose power often enough for this to be much of an inconvenience, but I would like to know the fix just incase.

    Hi, i have a sharp LC-60LE650U that stopped working when my house got struck by lightning a couple weeks ago. I tested the power board using your tips and determined that the board was bad. I got a replacement power board from eBay and installed it. I checked all the voltage again and everything seems to be the same as yours except that when i press the power button, i get 7.5V instead of 12V on pin 1. The TV still doesn't turn on but the LED at the bottom on the TV has a fast flash and a slow flash.
    I should mentioned that i didn't check the voltage output to the LEDs. Not sure what these should be reading. Im assuming that the power board i bought is oK since i get some lights but i get worried with the 7.5V. Could that be the main board?
    Please let me know what you think. I tried the reset sequence and i still don't get anything.

  • @shawnstiefel6845

    That error code means that one of your LED strips is bad or going bad. This reset procedure forces on the tv ignoring the fault. The reason you have to keep resetting it after it is powered off is because the fault code needs to be reset in the service menu. If after you reset the fault and power off tv the tv faults again then theres still a problem with your LEDs.

    Dang, I tried this with this Sharp LC-70C6600U, but no LED comes on.Same symptons, I got 5v bus when plugged back in main board I get a 5v, 13v That PS board looks just like this one too,
    Wonder if its main board issue

    Dave, my Sharp LC-55q7530 has no external buttons, except for the power button . I tried the same reset procedure but on the remote...still no go. Red light on solid with AC present, press power button, red light goes off, no power up, red light then comes back on. Voltages seem ok except no 5VDC anywhere off the P.S. board, but I do measure 2.7VDC on one pin. Replaced both P.S. board and mainboard, same symptom. Disconnected panel ribbon cable from mainboard, no power...nothing. Can't help but think I'm missing something. Voltages on new P.S. board identical to old board.

    As the TV will turn on and off correctly ONLY when the power cord is in all the time, shows some sort of memory setting is being TEMPORARILY held. When unplugged from the mains, the reset you did clears and goes back to silly mode. As TV's don't have a battery for the bios like a computer does, what in the TV would be responsible for holding a new memory setting? Seems like faulty bios hardware. Bios software upgrade or overwrite might help?

      Maybe it's a bad EEPROM? When you do the reset, the CPU rewrites the EEPROM and let's the unit work.

  • @williamrayburn9403
    @williamrayburn9403 Před 8 lety +6

    The procedure you're using is a forced power on procedure and you're missing just a few critical elements to resolve the problem. After you have the "K" on-screen press vol(-) and ch(-) together. This brings up a service menu. Then scroll down to "Lamp Errors" and reset. That's why turning it off and then turning it on normally again you're back to the error.
    After doing that update your firmware. Sharp was way to critical about lamp error detection and under certain circumstances the counter gets added to without detecting an actual error. CCFL lighting, for example, can cause premature error detection.
    There are some with the 1-2 error that are actually a problem with shorted leds in the lighting array. If forced on does not work I would suspect one or more leds have shorted. To replace them I would strongly advise taking it to a qualified technician.

    • @williamrayburn9403
      @williamrayburn9403 Před 8 lety +4

      Sorry, when it posted it took what I put in brackets and warped them somehow.. After the force on procedure a "K" appears on-screen. Then press, together, volume down and channel down to get to the service menu. Scroll down with using the arrow keys on the remote, to "Lamp Error" and reset. Now the unit should turn on/off normally without having to again force start.
      The last thing is to update the firmware. Sharp, on many of their models with this problem, have readjusted the sensitivity to lamp error detection to help eliminate the problem in the future.
      Hope this helps!

    • @williamrayburn9403
      @williamrayburn9403 Před 8 lety

      Unplug it, allow it to sit for about 60 seconds and simply begin again. It is an active button control for that reason. One of Sharp's better ideas. Just try and minimize the time between the "K" appearance and entering service mode...

    Sharp TV Corp.have this kind of problems in it TVs for awhile now in their design flaws for there main CPU chips for their main mother board for either LCD or LED TVs.Have same kind of problems they both have bad firmwares programing problems put into them for LCD TVs design it was OPC and POWER lights together flashing too same kind of deal must unplug reset too.Even that you change another refurbish main mother board still will happen,if the main mother board never receive a software firmware upgraded.Only correct upgraded the firmware will solved this problems,but Sharp Corp.stop letting people doing this already.If you download wrong firmware or corrupt firmware files for the TV will stop working all together can't even do any resetting to the TV anymore either.I own two sharp 46" LCD Aquas TVs. I known this problems for sharp TVs for years.Just used the TV everyday like for 4 hrs a day this problems will never or hardly shown up at all.
