I live in former East-Berlin and specialize in GDR history. In terms of realism, here are some accurate and inaccurate things I noticed just for fun if you're curious: -Accurate: 1.The subway. There were indeed ghost stations between 1961 and 1990. These were mostly downtown stations in East-Berlin but with both terminus located in West-Berlin. The trains woudn't stop there, as the access to these stations were forbidden to everyone. East-german border guards would guard them, as GDR citizens could try to use the tunnels to flee. The subway lines, S1, S2, U6 and U8 had these ghost stations. They could have taken a random station or invent one but no, they took the station Weinmeisterstraße, on line U8, which was indeed closed. + The train driver says in german at the beginning ''We'll reach the station Moritzplatz in 5 minutes''. Moritzplatz is a real station and is indeed the first station in West-Berlin after the Wall on the U8 line. Very accurate, good job. 2.The Volkspolizei(East-german police) used mostly Volga M24 cars or Lada 1500. There seem to be an attempt to portray these cars that look anyway very similar. 3.They made Berlin look like Berlin in the architecture. The northwest area of downtown Berlin where Weinmeisterstraße is, was more spared by WWII bombings, leaving a lot of the 19th century buildings intact, but in a bad shape in the 80s as we can see here. This neighborhood today is beautiful, popular but expensive. -Inaccurate: 1.The grey uniform was used by the Volksarmee(People's army). The Volkspolizei(People's police) used to wear a blue uniform like the guy on the left(4:04) and the Grenztruppen(border guards) would wear green uniforms, like the guy on the right(4:04). So these men guarding the station would have green uniforms but the police officers stepping out of the cars at 11:07 would have blue ones. 2.The guns. The East-German army and border guards used mostly AK-47 or other versions like AK-74, not MP5 3.There's western cars in East-Berlin. The most common car in East-Germany and the only one most people could afford was the Trabant model 601. It would have been realistic to see this. 4.There most likely wouldn't have been Stasi agents in uniform walking around like that. The Stasi was much more insidious, having agents hiding within the police, the border guards or the army. Most of the time, Stasi agents on duty would dress as civilians, making it impossible to know who is who and creating a totally paranoid environment. 5.Stasi agent would most likely not use the term ''Stasi'' when interacting with people(10:16). They would use the full formulation ''Staatsicherheit''(State security), from which ''Stasi'' was formed. 6.Weinmeisterstraße was not close at all from the Wall. From there, the closest area where the Wall stood, was at Nordbahnhof(north train station), around 1.4km away. 7.The Wall itself. There is at 5:07 a tower model BT-11, which is accurate, although most of the towers at the Berlin Wall were model BT-9. However, by 1981 we had reached the third and final generation of the Wall, that would remain until 1989. The wall on the western side would have been the model 75, and would have had a cylindrical top to prevent fugitives from clinging and climbing over it. The Signalzaun(signal fence) and Patrollenweg(patrol trail) are also missing here. The checkpoint would have been much more securized, with obstacles preventing fugitives in cars and trucks from driving throught it at high speed without stopping. 8. At 10:26, ''Die Mauer wird fallen''(the Wall will fall), the Stasi would have erased that in 10 minutes. But despite what I just said, it's still well done. The goal of a video game is to be fun, and this is 100%. The mission is very cool, and it's always cool to see Berlin in video games.
And the soldiers of the Special unit who appears in 20:12 minutes? There's some like that in East German Forces? I was thinking in something like the DIENSTEINHEIT 9... What you can say?

This mission is what got me hooked to the game. To this day my favorite part is still the campaign. I’ve replayed it countless times and I’m still very interested in it
In most black ops you’d think they’d be using enemy weapons. In particular why not a silenced makarov or bare minimum a Soviet/East German PM-63. Using a M1911 with silencer shows overtly who’s involved. No way to have plausible deniability when using western ordinance in the Eastern Bloc
@@Deathmare235 but still using eastern bloc ordinance would suffice. If it’s Soviet bloc munitions, there’d be no trace of the CIA. And for the record, we had a lot of captured Easten bloc/Soviet hardware captured in Vietnam. Hence plausible deniability
but 1911 is so edgy and so much freedom and holders of 1911 are the good guys automatically, with the only sin with the gun is that it doesnt shoot .50bmg, which is freedom in its true form. Unless ofc you kill your enemy with apple pie in the face
Lazar:I was gonna her pick up some knackwurst from der braunbar. But it’s closed already.. Bell:Well me and park are gonna go somewhere private after this..
@AxWielder Sprigz Yes, that's just sloppy. They have the resources to do it properly. There are other developers of games with way smaller budgets who care about detail and respect gamers.
@AxWielder Sprigz "Meh just give them MP5s, these idiot gamerz won't notice anyway." or, best case scenario, some lazy developer couldn't be bothered, and nobody checked his work. Triple-A, my ass.
@AxWielder Sprigz the fact that are just some weapons it's the point! they just needed to give DDR AKs, and all would have been perfect, I think it's no so difficult for a triple A software house, they're just lazy developers. Since there are just some weapons, they could have armed DDR with m16 and it would have been fine for you
It's really sad to see that the east German military and police isn't seen using standard issue AKs, PM 63s and Makarovs but instead mp5s and 1911s, both of which were never used by them ever. I'm not saying they should add new weapons, just reskinning the 1911 for example to make it resemble a Makarov would have been good enough
@@Davi-pq3ej that's actually legit unlike in this game. They should never have had included an MP5 in this mission and just use the AK-47 and AK-74U as well as the RPG. Even the Type 63 in multiplayer will work.

Because back then people took history as history, not today where it’s more like: “Why is no one talking about racism and war that happened many years ago and we can’t do anything about.”
Because people like to shit on modern releases to make themselves feel better. The feeling of being around during the “great” era of games makes them feel special.
With all the wrong guns outrage one could almost forget that the border guards wear summer dress uniforms....in winter..... without raincoats..... in a pouring rain. :-D
„Now get the hell out of East Berlin“. That part would have been interesting to see, regarding the fact, that the Berlin Wall was built to keep people in.
they using the old engine, MW 2019 uses the brand new engine hence why the animations and shit are a lot more detailed. I play both and cold war is still quite fun tbh. just a step back in tech though compared to MW
Great looking game and scenario, a shame about some of the weapons, but the scenarios are well written. I would have had the good guys arriving earlier at the end as the captured female agent could have been an ally.
That historical accuracy. They literally went to modern Germany metro and made some photos, good thing they left out the smartphone ads, QR codes and furry sticker art you can find there, I'll do that in America the next time I'm making a game about them set in the 1981
Sorry, but screwing up the armament of East German Border Guards to an extend where you give them West German guns? That's just lazy on the devs' part and insulting the average player's intelligence. Especially considered how pretty much every gun these guys had in their arsenal is also in the game.
I would like to see a mission set in the cold war bunker at Bonn-Ahrweiler xD And maybe some mission at the Fulda Gap. Like the soviets break through and you have to fought them back or something. its still German, its the same thing, lol why do you know so much about guns?
Thanks I thought I was the only one that noticed
@@GymmyRhys they're not the same thing. It's like North Korean soldiers having South Korean weapons

@@GymmyRhys I mean why not? Like you should be asking why Treyarch put such little effort into giving the faction the correct firearms.

@@awrtrooperDT7853 Yes, just looked it up, the were formed by Pepsi in the sixties and sold flavorless chips until 72 when they made their nacho flavor, so they'd be around in the 80's for sure. I looked up Mountain Dew for laughs to, and it's been around since the forties until Pepsi picked it up in the 60's, so it seems like Mountain Dew and Doritos have been going together for a long time indeed.
@@roberthanneman6305 maybe that's got to do with the influence of western culture, in the late 70's and early 80's rock music and punk from the west was seeping in to the east, also along with fashion and cultures

Since when the DDR Police Officers use MP5
Those are Volkspolizei and Stasi. East German policemen and secret police officers. That and Grenztruppen, the border guards seen in the abandoned metro stations and at Checkpoint Charlie.
FNC
@@tylerg.2599 did they used MP5?
@@Kaptennemo001 No because the MP5 was created by the West Germans. Volkspolizei and Stasi used licensed Soviet guns like the MPi-K. A copy of the Soviet AK-47.
@@VeteranAlpha That makes an Mp5 sound friendly lol
This stage always gets me on the edge of my seat. Trumps any mission in the game, including the KGB headquarters infiltration. A masterpiece in espionage game design!

maker of a AAA title cant arm east german guards correct
ah yes, let’s give East Germans the most West German firearm there is
@AxWielder Sprigz lol, well it's a valid complaint haha
@AxWielder Sprigz that's a retarded excuse
@AxWielder Sprigz they says that they making ''realistic'' games but still fucked up the armament of the germans during cold war they suposed to use ak's or something like that
German Guards holding AKs.
How REAL
Is it just coincidence I got an ad for german beer before watching this?
Nein
According to my mother who was born in East Germany 1972 and lived in East Berlin.
She witnessed everything.
Neither East German soldiers nor stasi or guards never ever had any kind of mp5 weapons they had ak's like the Russian soldiers who were stationed in East Germany. The German dub is terrible!
One good point for the game is the resemblance of the Wall which split West and East Germany apart. It really looked that way.
Although I am complaining to much this is a great game with all its habits.
Is your mother a specialist in East German weapons? Did she know they didn't use MP5?
@@EduLeondeCamargo no she is not a specialist in weapons but she told the difference between this and that also she played with some Russian soldiers when she was just a kid. Hide and seek and all that kinda stuff lol

why do the german officers have MP5s it was a western gun BruH
It's like Cod WW2 but except of having too much Russian guns* , they have too much German and Belgian guns ^^
edit : I was gonna say "give them stg 44 and mp 40 for all time sakes " but it's maybe not accurate but in 16:00 Bell uses a wellrod so it fits I guess .
east germans would basically just use the same guns as the soviets, just like everybody else in the warsaw pact (except the czechs)

Then again the same could be said vice versa and anyway they’re CIA agents they’re not meant to get caught
PM-63 is a Polish gun
@@Edelwajsyes but East Germany did use it
East germans with MP5??
yea lol its cod what u expect, they should have ak74s or something
Yeah, something like the Skorpion or the PM-63 would be more appropriate.
@@danielchew8739 the whole game looks whack as fuck tbh
Yeah I didn’t get that. It would make sense with eastern bloc weaponry but mp5 was for the west Germans
@@Adam-ui9qj Either Activision didn't study well or it was just intentional.

I'll be disappointed if theres only one Vietnam level
Yeah I think that's the case
There's sort of a 2nd mission which is pretty cool but its part of a dream esque sequence

East German border guards with MP-5s? Thank you, I think that’s a pass, then.
hehe lols
Tolerating substandard game is the last thing a "gamer" would do
@AxWielder Sprigz Yes, that's just sloppy.
Since there are just some weapons, they could have armed DDR with m16 and it would have been fine for you
The production quality is just sick.
17:13
What a gentleman.
Why do the Border Guards have FNCs.
Why is checkpoint charlie labeled as an east german building 😭😭
This mission is so climatic.
Its like watching a suspense movie damn great game designing
cool camera.
fits in pocket but has clearly a zoom range of 35mm-1000mm
(optics like that usually are like a meter long and weight shit ton)
It's really sad to see that the east German military and police isn't seen using standard issue AKs, PM 63s and Makarovs but instead mp5s and 1911s, both of which were never used by them ever. I'm not saying they should add new weapons, just reskinning the 1911 for example to make it resemble a Makarov would have been good enough
Interesting that East German guards have MP5s lol
West German weapons in the hands of East Germans lol
It's like call of duty ww2 German soldiers using PPSh-4 in the western front .
@@Davi-pq3ej That did actually happen; German soldiers also used weapons captured from enemies.
@@Davi-pq3ej that's actually legit unlike in this game. They should never have had included an MP5 in this mission and just use the AK-47 and AK-74U as well as the RPG. Even the Type 63 in multiplayer will work.
Look pal, not every cod is perfect, in world at war there are Tiger 2 tanks in the stalingrad mission, fw200 bomber formation over stalingrad even though they are used in the Atlantic, the reichstag siege is very innacurate, flamethrowers used by Soviet is American Made, but world at war still remains one of the best cod games ever, cod was never that historically accurate
if i wait several years maybe less i'll be able to play this on a $300 laptop on high to medium settings with it the power cord plugged in

That Camera Part Make Me Remember The Mission In Black Ops 2 Fallen Angel
I dunno, the game seems a little softer compared to the original
I guess it's to match the fact that people have also gotten softer heehee
Because back then people took history as history, not today where it’s more like: “Why is no one talking about racism and war that happened many years ago and we can’t do anything about.”
Yeah the original was way grittier, this one isn't as engaging at all, the first one really pushed the boat out.
Of course, you'll never satisfy the cod community, they're allergic to evolution
@Catboomer12 in this game, apart from the obvious MP5 thing, apparently the East Germans were also using Chinese rifles adopted in 1995
Oh man, the beginning of this mission looks like me commuting to work via the U6

„Now get the hell out of East Berlin“.
That part would have been interesting to see, regarding the fact, that the Berlin Wall was built to keep people in.
How does this look worse than Modern Warfare? People were practically photorealistic in that game and now they look cartoony.
THANK YOU! I’ve said since I played the beta! Apparently it’s the new “direction” cod is going with
ay this played in older console and not new gen console
At first I thought this was produced shortly after the end of the Cold War...
they using the old engine, MW 2019 uses the brand new engine hence why the animations and shit are a lot more detailed.
I play both and cold war is still quite fun tbh. just a step back in tech though compared to MW
@@bandit_thehedgehog626 new direction idiots dont realise how good modern warfare was now they want to take this step idiots🤣🤣🤣
Great looking game and scenario, a shame about some of the weapons, but the scenarios are well written. I would have had the good guys arriving earlier at the end as the captured female agent could have been an ally.
This was my favorite mission next to the Moscow mission
That historical accuracy. They literally went to modern Germany metro and made some photos, good thing they left out the smartphone ads, QR codes and furry sticker art you can find there, I'll do that in America the next time I'm making a game about them set in the 1981
Unfortunate friendly fire lmaos.

Sorry, but screwing up the armament of East German Border Guards to an extend where you give them West German guns? That's just lazy on the devs' part and insulting the average player's intelligence. Especially considered how pretty much every gun these guys had in their arsenal is also in the game.
Peope are just pissed because we went from MW to this on next gen. A bar was set and they still went under it
Because according to them. The weapons they used are inaccurate from the time period.
They are hypocrites nonetheless, try pointing out innacuracy like Tiger 2 tank on stalingrad in WaW and they won't give a shit
Sir you play so normal
Love you from AFGHAN
I would like to see a mission set in the cold war bunker at Bonn-Ahrweiler xD And maybe some mission at the Fulda Gap. Like the soviets break through and you have to fought them back or something. With all stuff. Blowing up bridges or talking up in a plane on a westgerman highway strip to bomb something in eastern germany. But not Atombombs or nuclearrockets.
