That like an atheist tryin to make you believe he's a christian .. sum folks like it .. but to me vinegar hides flavor . . But thats Me .. 👍
Thank you for doing such a great job articulating the details and explaining everything so my dumb ass can understand. Immaculate go try this right now...

Holly crap that looks good!!! Gona do it!
@The Dawgfatha I’m gonna be cooking ribs for the first time by myself this coming Saturday I’ll let you know how it goes
Dude must be an actual teacher. He’s so articulate and so good at bringing a point across in a way that make sense . Doesn’t matter the subject being able to articulate how to do something is a separate talent in it self. Good work and keep it up!
Thanks Aaron! I try to make it simple honestly
@@TheDawgfathasBBQ Yep! Good stuff. Just subscribed and am looking forward to learning from your videos!
That's What I Tried To Say...Thunks....👍
Ikr he feels like an actual teacher....and I've tried making these ribs n they cane out so delicious n juicy 🤤🔥👌🏽..he holds up to the name dawgfatha
A year later here I am refreshing for these charcoal ribs!!
As a 17 time bbq rib champion, I will say that this is very likely the best Ribs for beginners' video on CZcams! Congratulations Brother! Great JOB!
What is a “17 time rib champion” doing watching a how to video..?
How are you a champion but you don’t monetize it? Make videos
@@jerrywinsor3045 I was thinking the same thing lol
As a 32 time emperor of the Assyrian empire I definitely agree!
@@nidhishshivashankar4885 😂😂😂
Every time I make ribs on my Weber Kettle, I have this video ready to go on my phone to refer to, even though I make them about once every couple months. I just feel better having it handy, in case I forget something. This method has never let me down.
That is awesome! Thank you so much and glad it helps.
I have been teaching in the medical field for 35 years and I thought your presentation was concise, educational, and flowed with grace. It held my attention throughout. The personal touch was just right. I am a subscriber! Thank you.
THANK YIOU!!!
As soon as he said “I grill by feel...” I subbed. Use this video to get you started, and BUILD your “feel” from there. The satisfaction of grilling is getting better every time you do it and this Tuber couldn’t have given you a better platform to start from. Great video.
Thanks brother! I do think that generally too much technology has creeper into the game. I like using it sometimes but going by feel teaches you how to really cook in my opinion.
You damn straight bro!
I do exactly the same thing on my Weber, bbq by feel 🙏 Now I've ruined some good meat here and there, but that's part of learning the game, right?
Not a better feeling when you do it by feel, and freekin nail that piggy right on the spot!
@@Mr.OakMountain Well said- you mentioned “ruined?” Naw man- I bet it was still plenty edible, but you striving for perfection. That the learning process- trial and error. Once you nail it, you never forget it.
Same here. Soon as he said that I subbed.
My type of chef
"This is backyard barbecue, so it's all good."
MY MAN!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise. I am always looking to improve my backyard barbecue skills, so I appreciate guys like you who happily share knowledge, skill and experience with the rest of us.
Glad I found your channel.
“Cooking by feel” that’s the key. I heard that and I knew you are on point. Iv been doing BBQ for almost 12 years and I never used thermostats either. I’m trying your recipe right now as I’m typing. Thank you for this great channel.
This guy knows ribs. Double thumbs up.
Great 😊 instructions! I have been grilling for close to 40 years and feel confident in my approach but I find your video very informative for those who are starting out and your a very good teacher! Thank you
I'll start by saying you have a gift for presentation and concise explanation, sir.
I've cooked all the holiday meals for decades, from scratch, no recipes, and grill lots of things for cookouts, but never dared ribs since they are easy to screw up.
You break everything down clearly and instill confidence with your love of the BBQ art. A natural teacher.
Just made ribs tonight and they came out amazing - also did brisket with your video too. Thank you for such awesome instructional videos! You really break it down so anyone can smoke!
i have been bbq ing 40 years. mostly with weber, you are the man, very useful information. especially the parts to order for them. thank you. seem like a cool dude. hats off man.
Just discovered this channel. This man knows his barbecue. Instant fan! And subscriber!
Thanks Nick!!! Welcome to The Dawgpound! 👊👊👊
This just happened to me!
Same here! Can't wait to learn more
Awesome job bro! Looks tender and juicy. I will say, great minds think a like! Good instructional video :)
Hey thanks for dropping by bro! But those potatoes you made were off the chains!!! I hadn't made those in a long time.
Two of the best right here
I put the little piece on the grill. It's ready first and the cook gets the snack.
Yeah dat!
Thank you! I’ve been grilling for years but always learn something new. Love your comment about cooking with feel rather than relying on temperature.
Love the simple chill teaching. I grill ribs a lot on my grill. Love seeing everyone's method. Your a true teacher....
I appreciate that!
It’s Father’s Day morning, I’m 15 minutes into my cook! Looking forward to lunch!
Happy Father's Day!
I have always been a cook, but just started BBQing. This video was so instructive and easy to follow.
Looking forward to giving this a try ASAP
Great video. You make cooking so easy for beginners
I love your style, go by feel and let’s keep it real!!!
That’s how I like to cook also.
Thank you very much for that simple rib recipe.
I’ve seen videos of you in my feed before, but this video made me a subscriber even though i already know how to make ribs. You have such a calm, relaxed presentation.
This guy is right on. A true cook does it by feel and uses his soul just like an artist or painter. I followed his recipe and put a little bit of my own spin on it and the ribs came out fantastic. Thanks for the great video.
Dawgfatha, I watched this video last night and followed your steps this morning on my 18" Weber charcoal grill. PERFECT RIBS!!
Subscribed 😁
Rock on!
The way you cut it open. 🔥
Teach me something big dawg.
Going to try this tonight
I LOVE how detailed your instructions are! I'm new to grilling, so this is super helpful.
Great instructional video Alton. I like using cherry wood for a nice color and flavor on rib and it's amazing how much flavor you get just using salt & pepper. Those ribs looked mighty fine brother!!! Cheers to ya and hope to see you guys again real soon!!!!
Brother it has definitely been way too long hasn't it? I'm still bummed that we didn't get to do that crawfish boil this Spring. Just means we'll hopefully get to do it big next year! Stay safe over there and say hello to the Mrs. for us... And definitely thanks for dropping by and watching.
I was reading this comment without noticing who the author was... and when I saw “mighty fine” I immediately knew who it was😂😂
2 things....DO NOT use apple cider vinegar. It can leave a funky taste on the ribs when you are done grilling. You can avoid having to do ANY SPRAYING by simply filling up a small aluminum catch pan with water and leaving it on the top grill directly next to the ribs. The condensation will leave it moist throughout the process.
Excellent video !!!!.... Well edited and the host is very personable ..
Great explanation of his technique and use of his grill...
Very refreshing to watch
This is my go to video whenever im doing ribs
old video i’m supposing but thank you my dad never showed me how to cook and this helps so much
I loved that he kept everything simple, and they came out looking great!! Thank you for the help!!
I have been grilling for many years. I have learned a few new things from you and appreciate it. I have subscribed to your channel with notifications. Thank you for sharing with us. My wife and I enjoyed this very much.
great tips, i love bbq culture. folks are so friendly
Simplicity executed to perfection. Thanks for the effort you put in to not only making these ribs but also the very high quality production!! Subscribed.
same here
Love how you make this simple. Ribs seem to intimidate me a bit but you made this so easy, now I'm gonna try!
hi
That's what I wanna learn by feel like he says. True wisdom here🙏
I lost your channel for a year! AND NOW I FOUND YOU!!!! You're voice is so soothing.
My husband and I watched this video, and loved how easy you made those ribs. We will be making ribs Tuesday and will follow step by step. You have instilled confidence in me. I know we can do this ✊🏽
Awesome! Thank you!
How did they come out? They look awesome in this video.
Hey, Dawgfatha! I just cooked a rack on my Weber following your instructions. (Weber Kettle and charcoal newbie, here!) It turned out like a dream! Tender and flavorful. Thanks for the easy method!
This dude is so mellow to listen to. Just getting down to business and showing me how to do it. I screwed up my last Weber kettle ribs. I think this will help me get where I need to be.
Watched your video multiple times. Happy to report, first ever ribs turned out GREAT. thanks!
This helped a great deal for my first time grill.
I made a few ingredient adjustments but it still worked out.
I did not change a thing in the grilling time lines.
Thank you.
Like many other comments have said man you explained everything so well! Actually listening to this vid is like being wrapped in your favourite blanket as a child. Awesome video man will be following this today on my own ribs 🤌🏼
You, sir, are a master of your craft !!! Thank you for sharing your wisdom !!
So here is where the OGs come to grill?

I absolutely love how you "cook by feel" that's how I've been teaching myself over the years. With a bunch of probes and thermometers it takes the relaxing and fun out of grilling in my opinion.
I just have a Weber, no grill grates, no charcoal side buckets, no thermometers. I'm not spending 150 bucks on side junk when I'm trying to save money on BBQ by doing my own. Grab a drink, get a comfy lawn chair, and let it happen.
Great video! love it
Awesome video Bro. I tried out your method and the ribs came out awesome!! Thanks again keep up the good cooking bro!
Thank you Dawgfather!! I followed this video guide for my first time smoking pork ribs and they turned out absolutely perfect!!
I just found this channel. This is nice. Well explained, good video quality, and he really knows how to speak to the camera.
Excellent job on the video! Your instructions are easy to follow and presented perfectly. You are very natural in front of a camera. If the ribs tasted like they looked Bravo!
Probably one of the best informational how to bbq videos out there.
Wow, that looks awesome. Thanks, going to give it try myself. Awesome video 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the tutorial! I like your teaching method! Simple but informative!
Learn to cook by feel not temp that holds true! 💪🏾💯 Great info
works amazing and my ribs came out fantastic today thanks to the Dawgfather!
My bbq game has been up MAJORLY ever since watching your videos. Thanks my guy
I learned so much in this video
Didnt realize people put salt on the meat to create a natural binder
Also learned what a binder is

You always do such a fantastic job of explaining everything clearly and simply with nothing left out. Thank you so much for the amazing videos!.
Great job on the ribs big dawg! Them ribs look amazing! Iove my 22" kettle grill and grilling all sorts of different types of food on it! Keep up the great content 👏 and shot out from H-Town!
I grew up watching my people bbq and no one ever checked the temperature lol rarely needed bbq sauce. This video is a breath of fresh bbq air!
Love how you rely on your feel for your BBQ craft. I will use your method next weekend on, yes, my Weber kettle.
"Be careful not to poke a Hole in the Foil."
That line speaks volumes about your attention to details. Good Job. Well Done.
This is why I love being from and living in Texas. A.) HEB 2.) Exactly what your shirt says! 3.) Our BBQ is just better. Period. Subscribed!
Thanks for the tips I’m grilling ribs tomorrow for 4th of July. I hope they turn out good as good as yours looks!
Same lmao bout to put em in the foil let us know how it ends up
Very well done instructional video. I'll be using your method this memorial day.
The look you had when you took a bite of that rib!
Man! I want to hang with the Dawgfatha and watch the magic! Love your channel sir!
Followed your instructions- my ribs were fantastic!
Gotta love HEB meats. Those ribs look absolutely delicious.
So this was my first time making ribs ever and I followed your recipe almost exact. I think I waited too long before wrapping them in foil and the crust was a little bit crunchier than I like but that was my fault and the meat was incredible. It had a nice bit and was tender and juicy. I didn’t use bbq sauce either just some seasonings. Thanks so much man this is a killer recipe!!!
Man I just followed these directions making ribs for the first time. C'est bon!
Ended up with a brisket instead of prim rib for Christmas. But decided I can do this. Watched this video and killed it. Your videos are great!
Maybe one of the best explained rib videos out there. Very much appreciate the your time and effort for making this. About to do my first set of ribs on my very first Weber charcoal BBQ. A video like this will definitely be of assistance! Thank you!
You are a terrific instructor, Alton. Thank you!
That cutting board is DOPE!!!
Best Intro bro. Love it. Great video, great detail. Leave that Intro bro Cheers
I can't believe that I never thought of using "less" seasoning on the thinner side of the rack. It's great when an old timer gets schooled like a newb. I subscribed so that I can be schooled some more. You should name your channel "How Dawg schools the old guys". Just kidding. Super Video, great detail.
Straight to the point. No extras on buying a hundred spices and keeping it simple at home bb style. I too have learned with no temperature reading when cooking Mexican style. Great video
My ribs turned out AWESOME on my Weber Kettle! Love your BBQ videos. Keep the Weber Kettle smoking tips coming.
You got it! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I had to improvise for today! I didn't wanna get working on the big smoker for a couple racks of ribs. I went to home depot this morning and got (4) 7-5/8 in. x 1-1/4 in. x 3-5/8 in. Red Clay Bricks
I stacked them upright to make a divider between the coals and the meat. 2 in the front one in the back and one on top. It actually fit almost perfectly.... i have a nice wall right there to keep the heat away. $2.00 brick n sear divider 😂. Other than that I did exactly what you did in the video, water pan and all. Its going rn, looks like its working really well!
Happy 4th of July!!🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲 thanks for the video!! 👍👍
Thank you, it was my dad's birthday and he loves ribs but i didn't know how to make then but he loved them.
This is my go to video everytime I smoke BBQ with my weber 😅
Damn Alton those were some fantastic lookin ribs, if I could do this every time I would be extremely happy. Have a great day brother.
What a great down to earth presentation! Looks delicious while being very easy to do. Like his approach about learning to cook by feel. That's how I learned too. Good job, man!
I just followed this method and its full on LIGHTS OUT! awesome method and video! i was all ready to buy a dual probe thermometer but the recommendation to cook by feel is always right. thanks for setting me straight!
I'm a chef, cooking by feel is real cooking and you have a good understanding of meat when you cook without temp gauges. Well done !
GREAT VIDEO!! I'm following this right now firing 2 racks. I'm curious though, how many times did you put more charcoal in? How much did you use in total or did that initial amount last the whole cook?
I have the same question!
I've seen chefs use mustard to keep the season on the the meat.
I use it when im doing str8 up bbq ribs. Easy with the salt though if u do. Esp if u have health issues.
@@brysonrucker3163 That, and it will suck the moisture out of the ribs and dry them out.
This is the best instructional I've ever seen. I'm going to Lowes in the morning for the spritz
You buddy are amazing! So calm and so thorough! I love your style! Greetings from Athens, Greece.
Don’t waste your meat, use it. Words to live by.
I can't use it,she's pissed at me!
He’s so thorough and goes above and beyond in the explanations. This was so helpful. Thank you!🤝
My Man that's what I'm talking about, I'm all about the back yard bbq cooking. I make my ribs fall off the bone nice and tender. Great color on those ribs 👍
It’s sad when I’m already subscribed but still learn something new!
Thank you sir. I made ribs for the first time by myself, very much appreciate your video as I've never had a teacher for it and have also been nervous to mess up.
Gr8 vid, tnx. I’m still using my 80’s vintage 22” Weber kettle to grill and am now moving into smoking with it. I can honestly say that I’ve never ever screwed the pooch with is grill. This is one of the most stable cooking methods there is and is recommended for new grill masters learning the ropes.
Following this recipe for the 2nd time this summer already and DAYUMMM, these ribs are good. I am forever thankful for this video.
Why cant more people be like this. Well spoken helpful and from the looks of them ribs a good cook
Watching a "Master" at work!!! Oh Man!!!
I just bought my Weber Kettle today and I'm trying this tomorrow. Thanks for the thorough explanation. Great video!
