  • In this module, we look at the origins of the Vietnam anti-war movement, focusing in particular on: (i) the concept of a ‘New Left’, and how groups associated with this political stance reacted to US involvement in Vietnam; (ii) why universities were important arenas of debate during the Vietnam War; (iii) divisions within the US anti-war movements; and (iv) how the student-heavy demographic of the anti-war movement impacted its progress and effectiveness.

Thank you for your comment please, in this short lecture we attempt to answer the question "What were the origins of the Vietnam anti-war movement". We advocate for the power of grassroots action or what we call "participatory democracy" to effect change. I hope this helps. Bis Bald!

Hippies and war protesters are two separate groups of people. People wrongly call everyone hippies. Hippies were more into drugs and retreated from involvement in the straight social and political world.
