Tim is onto a lot when it comes to race, but he's a bit off with the other forms of discrimination. For starters, regardless of race, everyone can have family members who face some sort of discrimination. People can be much more accepting and tolerant of non-family others who face similar discrimination. But, with the exception of those who marry in (and risk being shunned), not everyone has relatives of different races. Take sexism. Every man has a mother. Every straight man wants a woman partner. Men and women need each other to make society work. Blacks and whites do not need each other to make society work. Whites have consistently shown that they don't need or want anything to do with blacks. So the comparison of racism to sexism falls apart at some point. Racism stands alone in its class of discrimination.

Discrimination and greed are responsible for the the current state of the U.S. Everyone including whites would benefit if Greed and discrimination could be curtailed.
