After she died, her apartment at Kensington palace lay empty for years, then it was allocated to William and Kate, but millions was spent on it beforehand, turned out it was full of asbestos from a much earlier renovation. It was fully modernised and renovated after the asbestos was removed. I have often wondered if the asbestos caused Princess Margaret's many health problems.

@@pamelalamb1108 Totally agree, the 60's, 70's, and even 80's, the mental health industry was in its infancy, I had an aunt, and when she suffered depression, she was just carted of to the nearest mental hospital and given totally unregulated electric shock treatments, she was given crazy cocktails of drugs, which at the time would of been experimental. At the beginning, I think she just had post natal depression, but the treatments they dished out resulted in a lifetime of mental health problems, and pharma drugs.

Margaret was to the monarchy what Harry is today…the SPARE. She & her mother Elizabeth (Queen Mum) we’re jealous & coveted the role that Lilibet found herself in. Read Lady Campbell’s book on the Queen Mother…it’s a real eye opener. Margaret lost all support when her father died. She was his joy & he was her crutch. She married a crazy, gay photographer just out of spite. She hung out with substance abusers & the “fast set” of the world. She lived life recklessly & seemed to enjoy every minute of it…OR DID SHE? Like Harry, she felt she had something to “prove”. It’s all very sad, being stuck in a dysfunctional family (Margaret’s dad being the only truly honest & humble person in her life). Margaret would have preferred being the queen. She felt slighted that she was not as important as her sister. Think about it: Prince Louie will suffer the same experience as Margaret & Harry… and maybe even Anne.

@言行一致 Most everyone knew Lord Snowden was a bi-sexual…even Margo knew. He swung both ways & used Margo to climb the society ladder in London. In the RF rules are meant to be broken & they always find excuses to make their lurid behaviour acceptable. Nothing new here. The queen has always made exceptions for her kin, no matter what trouble they get into. The queen kept Paul Burrell from going to prison all the while knowing that he had stolen millions from Diana’s estate. She knew he’d be writing his memoirs about what a dysfunctional family they are & her vouching for him, kept him out of jail & made him a very wealthy homosexual…he came out of his closet not long after the queen saved him butt.

I am crying for the late queen. It is so sad that the royals now, Prince Harry, Prince William, and others should follow the way those that past before them acted. Family matters should be as private as possible. Mental problems should be taken seriously in the royals lives. Part of the RF’s problem is that none of them are “allowed” a voice. They are expected to stay quiet about any problems or issues, lest they begin looking like normal people rather than the “icons” the world has made their fairytale lives into. The RF has been living privileged lives for centuries. They lie, they cover up, they steal from their own citizens, the have loop holes to avoid the very taxes, which monies would make for a better life for the lower strata of society. Titles, position & power is given out like candy to those who’re in the monarch’s favor. It’s such a horrible society to live in. Discriminate at the highest level.

The females in that palace are badly treated!!!?? Maybe besides the queen....there is not one who rose to the top ever...not even
the queen's own daughter. Sophie seems to be the only one who has herself and her own life under control....Kate has a lot of pressure to act JUST RIGHT !!!
Megan is most definitely not the worse
not living up to expectations....and then for years and years there lives and what went wrong are being discussed, digging for information about What could possibly have gone wrong after they are dead and gone. So l don't
blame Harry for choosing to do what he did. Tell the world about yourself while you are alive and able
the way you experienced your life.
Just maybe a lot of sadness within the Royal family could've
    been prevented.
After all...they are all just human beings
    with real feelings.
So hard to put up a false front 24/7 ....financially well off but otherwise
have to behave like puppets. Very sad.

Indeed not. It was Queen Elizabeth II. As the head of the Anglican Church, she couldn't allow her sister to marry a divorcee. It was a difficult decision, because she really loved her sister. I confess the logic of the decision escapes me, as Henry VIII created the Church of England to divorce from her first Catholic wife, b7t there it is.

She may have had her problems sur which of us haven't but Margaret was always loyal to her family, her sister and Queen and The Monarchy and always was there to support her sister. She was the spare but she certainly didn't hold that against her sister and stood by her sister and did her duty to her Queen and Country and it wasn't always easy for her.
She had to choose love or the Monarchy and she choose the Monarchy. She wasn't whining about her position either. She got on with things and certainly made the best of it.

I sent Princess Margaret a homemade card made from tiny shells from the shores of the Sea of Galilee which I picked from the shoreline at the time of her scalding her feet, as most royals are stopped from visiting Israel for political reasons, even though it is the Land of the Bible.
I received a very cordial reply to my address in Tel-Aviv when I was working there as a Hilton chef where I also fed Tony Blair when he was PM, and her Lady-in-Waiting said the Princess was very touched. She had lots of wealth & notoriety, yet was not free to walk those holy shores.
It was one of the few countries her sister, the Queen, also never saw, even though she was Head of the Church of England, and many popes have visited. But I did write to them both back then and I even wrote the name of Her Majesty in calligraphic Hebrew, which is back-to-front! 🌿🕊
All a distant memory now back in my home town in Northern Ireland, but I still have the letters.

So i went untreated. In the 60s and 70s, any mental illness was a bad thing and misunderstood. As a result, many went untreated. This affected people worldwide, not only the Royals. But we can see where MM got her info about the Royals saying it wouldn't look good if she got treatment. She knew everything about the Royal Family.
