    But how long does the flask keep the water hot ? I’ve heard the thermos thermo is a better flask I’m debating which one to get

  • @declancarroll805
    @declancarroll805 Před rokem +3

    NHS guidelines water must be +70c when mixed with powdered formula to kill bacteria in the feed but the issue is the manufacturers all say not to use water directly off the boil as it may affect the quality of the feed. With no thermometer on the flask etc this thing is an expensive waste of money. We had this problem with our little one and found the best solution was a flask with a thermometer built in cost about £10-15 and another flask with ice water and a small tub. As long as the thermometer was above 70 it was safe to use and if you needed it cooled rapidly that's where the 2nd flask came in. If not there's not many establishments that would deny you running a bottle under a tap to cool it.

      @chloemayhew3843 Před rokem +1

      Literally what I was thinking with this. You aren’t suppose to mixed the powder with freshly boiled water it’s suppose to cool to a certain temperature first so it’s not at all being made correctly. Concerning that it suggests it follows nhs guidlines

    I just take a formula pot or two (depending on how many feeds I need) out with me with however many scoops needed a sterilised bottle of cold filtered water from the prep machine I then use 1oz of hot water either from a kettle or thermos add the powder, shake and then top up with cold filtered water.. this is exactly how the prep machine works but without taking the machine with you 😊

    Ive just started using this and its made life with powder milk so much easier. I only use it to cool down boiling water that way you dont have to sterilize it. It takes around 4 mins to cool 8oz. I take it everywhere i go and use it for home feeds aswell.

      Sterile water doesn't sterilise the feed common misunderstanding even some of the nurses in the hospital thought this with our little one

    • @declancarroll805
      @declancarroll805 Před rokem

      Buy a flask with a thermometer for night feeds fill it before you go to bed we got ours for about £10 kept water above 70c which is the NHS guidelines, it needs that to kill bacteria in the feed as well as water. Manufacturers say not to use fresh off the boil water in the feed which this system does. Also has no way of telling how hot the water is in your travel flask this is totally against NHS guidelines. It's easy to cool a bottle from 70c under a running tap or jug of water. We had full bottles cooled in minutes.

      You are not a pain at all, so it comes with a booklet which shows you all the different ways to sterilise it, I don't think you need to have an actual steriliser, I put mine in the dishwasher actually. I use this all the time when we are out. We already had the prep machine as the rapidcool was not out then but I will defo use this for the next baby we have and use it in our bedroom.

    Hi. I am wondering if it would work for twins to use the same rapid cool bottle one after another (like make Twin A's bottle and then twin B's bottle)
    I understand you use the 2nd white bottle for 2nd feed as it would been a few hours later and the 1st rapid cool bottle would have old formula inside it and cannot be used again.
    So if I am out and about and planning on doing 2 feeds for 2 would the kit be OK or would I need 2 kits? I could ask for additional boiling water from friend or cafe.
    Does that make sense?

    • @Homewiththehodgsons
      @Homewiththehodgsons  Před 2 lety

      Hi,
      So it says that it you should wait 3 hours to use it again after sterilising but I think if you could get away with it to be honest! I had to remake a couple that went wrong when I have been out and didn’t sterilise and he was fine. How much does each twin have!?
      Say each baby has 3 oz em each you could just make a 6oz feed as one and then just split them when you pour into each bottle! Hope that makes sense
