ocean sustainably.
We will award The Earthshot Prize to the most outstanding efforts to meet this challenge. To the innovators who revolutionise our understanding of life underwater; to the leaders who end criminal and unsustainable fishing practices; and to the technologists who repair coral reefs and show us how to remove pollution from the ocean on a global scale. We choose a future where our children can enjoy the ocean for years to come, and where the ocean can continue to sustain and enrich all life on Earth.

Over the last ten years, the evidence that we face urgent challenges to protect the environment has become indisputable, and it’s clear that the time to act is now. Drawing inspiration from the concept of moonshots, which since the moon landing in 1969 has become shorthand to talk about the most ambitious and ground-breaking goals, Prince William announced The Earthshot Prize: an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a decade of action to repair the planet.

There is STEM available to adjust ocean pH over wide areas. That would help the wildlife and drawdown serious amounts of atmospheric CO2.
Moreover, carbon farming the Ocean for food and fuel can scale quickly using known marine STEM.
The Ocean gives us an ability to get to scale with a number of needed technologies and governance.
There's so much tech available yet we forget the simple, if hard things. e.g. wastewater solids are supposed to be sequestered in some way, either in lined and maintained landfills or reacted to stabilize the wastes. Instead most treated sewage solids are now disposed of on unlined farm fields. So the nutrients etc in the solids leach into the aquifer and eventually reach lakes, rivers and estuaries.

We've left the fluid universe, air and water that we need daily to survive, in the control of natural forces like gravity and wind. When we weren't focused on just traveling through air or waters, we were taking taking taking until very little is left, its time to start doing things FOR water and air. First level the playing field, by applying for waters the same basic machines and structures, like the wheel and wedge, that make life on land possible. Examples of this include retro-fitting docks, bridges and causeways to preserve flow and exchange, or using floating devices based on the wheel or propeller to create or even reduce flow at regional scales for flood or water quality purposes. These methods are quite old and proven, just never applied at scale or in an organized way, or by an organization dedicated to developing them into a new balance for waters worldwide. And the same basic tech can be applied at regional scales for air . The tech is here, we just need the will and way to apply it.
