How to Fill the AirSaber Air Archery Arrow Rifle : Umarex Airguns

  • Need to know how to fill the Umarex AirSaber air archery air rifle that shoots target shooting or hunting arrows? Does your standard garage compressor do it? Short answer is no, but it can be useful if you intend to use a handpump. Watch this short video by Eydin Hansen to learn how your garage or shop compressor can be used to seat the valve which then allows you to use a hand pump. If you're not using a hand pump an electric compressor is another option and simplifies the process and takes the effort out. Just be sure not to overheat your compressor or your hand pump. A third option would be to use a SCBA tank, but with those, you'll have to have a filling location or source that's willing and able to put 4500 psi into it. You don't necessarily have to fill the Umarex AirSaber all the way up to 4625 psi either. 3200 or so will be sufficient if you get tired of using a hand pump.
Always follow the owner's operation manual for the hand pump or compressor you're using. Be cautious. Wear eye pro.

You don't find out you need a $500 special aut compressor until you've already bought the airbow. This should be a package deal otherwise you have a big paper weight. Manufacturer is not upfront about all of these costs. You need special bolts/arrows too.

Thank u for the video and mentioning that a regular home air compressor does not work. I have a 150 psi, 2 gallon tank like a lot of people and it’s useless for this application . I love the idea of this unit but as a newbie like others that may be watching there are other costs here to consider, $549 usd for the Umarex 4500 psi air compressor or other high pressure air compressor u need to buy , plus $400 usd for the rifle combo. The hand pump from what I am seeing in other reviews works somewhat but is a hell of a work out just to fill the unit up somewhat. That being said, I’m saving up my pennies right now !

OK, send one to me and if they are plentiful, I will buy one for the wife. He said "no can do, you must go through the website." @@UmarexAir I purchased a compound crossbow over purchasing an Air Saber. It was the most cost effective decision to make. I do not use crossbows, pellet guns etc for fun as a hobby. In my area, we must use such things at a range. I use such purchases for hunting small and large game. Much more people would give air rifles a try, if they were much more cost effective. Hunting laws are catching up with technology and it would be wise for a company to bring the costs down to sway potential customers and hunters to make the purchase. Rifles, bows and crossbows have a long history of use and dependability. I have an Umarex "springer" pellet gun that works very well for my uses and is very cost effective and dependable. Hi. I came here to let you all know, that you DO NOT need high pressure air compressor, regular air compressor, scuba tank or some other trick to initially help close Airsaber's inner seals when starting from 0% air pressure.
All you ever need is a high pressure hand pump.
The method is simple and terrifying. You have to pump fast enough and long enough to continuously generate pressure and so overcome leaking air that will escape before inner seals start to hold air.
Your pumping frequency has to be 2-3 downward pumps per second and you have to keep up that speed at least a minute before taking a break.
I'm not in particularly good shape and I weigh about 75kg. Still I managed to fill my Airsaber with sheer grit and stubborness. Start pumping with your hands only and when you feel fatigue starting to slow you down, place your hands (and pump handle) near your hip hinge area, keep your hands mostly straight and move pump handle up and down with your leg movement only. You can really generate some good pressure by leaning on the pump handle with all your weight when going down.
As I write this, I'm out of breath, nauseous and my legs are toast. But my Airsaber's pressure gauge is clearly on the green zone. I don't ever want to do this again so I will make sure to keep air pressure always high enough.
If someone wants to know, I used Hatsan handpump. I had to buy aftermarket quick coupler for it. Best Fittings' quick coupler happened to fit perfectly. Some quick couplers might not lock in place properly so take notice before you start filling. I had to take out this quick coupler's air pressure controller screw to help air flow move faster.
I believe any high pressure hand pump will work just fine. You could also make a tag team with friends and change the pump operator on the fly, if you moved FAST.

We need this in a combo version.
    Airbows obviously have a barrel.....
So why not size, and rifle the inside of the barrel in .177, add a pellet loading system with a side lever, and have have both an airbow for bigger game, and a pellet rifle for small game.
I wouldn't aim those expensive arrows towards the ground trying to shoot a little rabbit. Be cheaper to go to the store and buy Angus beef.
It wouldn't even be hard. A standard .177 air rifle just needs a slightly thicker barrel to make it work with arrows.
And since they're selling custom arrows anyway, they could size some so they would fit over a .22 barrel.
A .22 airgun that shoots pellets and arrows, without any tinkering to switch between them, should sell like hotcakes.

They are serviceable. There's been a handful of people that had leaks at the gauge, but corrected. Moisture in the air cylinder is always a concern. Best to use moisture filters on your filling devices. There are aftermarket filters that fit most HPA air compressors. As for lubrication just want to be sure to keep moving parts like bolt action and trigger linkage lubed. Silicone oil. When pushing the arrow in make sure it goes all the way in and seats over the o-ring that's down at the bottom. That's important. Sometimes you can hear a faint click, but you can feel it if not.

I like the idea but I’m not dropping $500 for a air compressor

Totally get that. If the time comes for one it could be an air source for many PCP air rifles, not just one. 😉

Horrible warranty. I’m on my third scope in six months time. They will not refund my money and expect me to pay shipping on returning their faulty products.

The pumps are junk. Kinda makes the rifle worthless.

A high pressure air pump does not come with the Umarex AirSaber.
