The inside bowline knot on the loop end, and the truckers hitch is perfect for cinching the line down
Thank you. I've been working on the bowline know but still need to get better at it. I'll also look up the truckers hitch knot.
Rick
thank you, sir, amazing detail & tips
I'm glad you liked it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Rick
Try the Russian bear tent, UP-5. They are Amazing. I have the UP-2 and that one had a zipper leakage issue but their customer support is WAY above and beyond! The sizing chart they use is a tad off because my wife and I, on two cots pretty much took every ounce of space available with only a wood box between us for a table. They ARE great tents but after getting soaked twice it was a hard choice to go another route. Hopefully this tent will be roomy enough and keep us dry. The reason I mentioned the RBM tent is because of the 5 star rating And the customer support.
Thanks for the advice. I'll look into that tent.
Mike has the 12'x12' tent and that may be better with two cots, especially if you add a table, the wood stove, a table, and two chairs. On bad weather days, you may like to be able to spread out and enjoy the inside of the tent more.
The 10'x10' is perfect for me but I would really consider the 12'x12' tent, depending on what you put in the tent.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Rick
Bowline is the best knot to use.
Much appreciated. I have recently started practicing that knot but I need to spend some more time getting comfortable tying it.
Rick
Breathing heavy for just putting up a tent... I'm not fit myself, so I shouldn't talk but you made me want more oxygen just watching.
LOL, well I'm working on getting in better shape and working on the breathing part.
Rick
Youâll like the wood heat vs propane heat.
Itâs a much drier heat that does a better job of warming your body and drying your wet clothes, plus now you can cook or heat water in your tent!
Just be careful with cooking in your tent in bear country!
Thanks for the tip on the bears and having the wood stove. I've been thinking about the cooking with bears around. I never keep food in my tent, so that would help, but I'm sure while I'm cooking, I'm putting out some great bear attractant.
What do you do to help keep bears away?
Rick
â@@campingwithmikenrickoutdoors Im in central Idaho. Ive not had any bad encounters with bear. I do always have bear spray and some Rocky Mountain bug spray, aka my 10mm Glock. I figure if I can't fix a problem with bear spray and 15 rounds of 10mm then I deserve to be eaten!

Good point.
Mike and I are heading up into Canada next year for some outdoor hunting and fishing trips, so being in Grizzly bear country is a major concern. Mike has a Toy Hauler and has some decent protection, but at present I have a tent, so camping up there gives me some concern.
Rick
@@campingwithmikenrickoutdoors They make portable electric bear fence. Easy setup and break down but I have no experience using them.
Thanks for bringing that up. I hadn't thought of that, but I've been telling Mike that I'm not heading into grizzly bear country without a RV or Truck Camper, but this may help me change my mind.
Thanks again for the tip.
Rick
Rubber hammer can't wait for my rubber axe
Rubber Axe? I haven't heard of that one.
Rick
It really a question butâŠ. Is this tent a â trueâ 4 season tent?
It absolutely is. It's a canvas tent set up for a wood stove.
You may have a different definition of 4-season, but it is listed as a 4-season tent and I have used it many times here in Colorado in temperatures down to 12 degrees F and I have been extremely warm with several different heating sources.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Rick
I camp year round so snow isnât a new thing up here in northern Idaho. lol. It arrives tomorrow and am anxious to set it up and check it out!
That's awesome. I have several cousins that live in Idaho. It's a beautiful place I need to visit more.
Let me know how you like the tent. I love both of my tents. The 10x10 and the Flexbow.
