Yeah they've been doing great lately I'm glad that the 903 is back too! Hopefully the roll out of their microadjust clasps speeds up a bit tho bc I'm eyeing to rebuy a 556i or a 104a
Sleeper watch is the best way to describe it, that term completely slipped my mind! I still can't wrap my mind around these specs in a watch that wears like it does, and seeing that dial in different angles is so cool. Just so much to take in!
That level of water resistance is utterly ridiculous. And seriously cool. I’ve got my eyes on the U50, though this is pretty tempting. My only hesitation is having to send it out to get a new battery.
I have gone snorkelling with this watch wearing both the Hydro and a U50. Both have amazing legibility but the Hydro takes it to another level. Getting +1 sec per month or less.
Hello fellow Sinner! Seriously, how is the accuracy been. The size would work for my 6.5 inch wrist much better than the UX, but I want excellent accuracy (would be using it on a boat and as a sextant back-up).
Imagine beeing aquaman, diving around close to 5000m of depth and suddenly remembering, you will have a date that day and don't know the time. Thank good, you got your oil filled sinn on the wrist, saving you a second of correcting the wrist angle for being able telling the time immediatly. You can't be late man. Whata time we live in.
I took a huge risk dipping mine into that bowl so if I were you I would be super careful about washing dishes. Gotta watch out for that dynamic pressure
@@thewatchidiot Lol!!! Awesome watch though. I really like a lot of Sinn’s lineup. They make great quality, decent looking tool watches and relatively reasonable prices…..I’m with you on this one in that I wish they continued using a thermo compensated movement
Yeah Sinn did a great job with this one! Yeah a thermocompensated movement would have been great but in the end there's so much to see, feel, and experience, that it more than makes up for it. Sinn overall makes fantastic watch no doubt!
It's a fantastic watch!! It appears to wear too small for me and my 8" wrist though. Whenever the U50 first came out I was excited about the dimensions, on paper... but when most reviewers compared it to their 39mm watches it was a no for me. The U1 is a great watch, just a bit to chunky on the wrist. I wish there were more local US shops that carried Sinn watches to try on before buying. Great review and a great watch... just don't think it's for me unfortunately. Also, you're spot on about poor lume on most Sinn watches I've had, other than my T1B... it has some really good BGW blue lume vs all the U1/U2's I've ever owned.
surely the expanding caseback or bubble is a solution to the oil expanding when the temp rises. I thought the whole piont was that the oil can't compress thus the mega depth rating?
I wore one as a backup for about four years. It was my second "nice" watch I bougth as a commercial diver (the first was a Sub in '99) I retired it because the bezel became fouled by metal and sand debris, oh and battery changes are $$$ - I live in South Africa - so no AD for repairs. They are fantastic watches for real world diving work. PS. When worn over a wetsuit, dimensions and weight don't really bother you.
A Sinn 144stsa will mostly likely be my next watch. I'm going no dehumidifier system. Since that can only be serviced by Sinn in Germany 🇩🇪 I rather have my watches serviced by my watchmaker but still awesome tech
I was going to get a Hydro a few years ago until I found out that an air bubble was deemed acceptable by Sinn. Apparently this is no longer the case but I would check before purchase.
Oh wow i didnt know that a bubble was ever acceptable by Sinn! Sinn created the caseback with a diaphram to avoid the bubble completely, so getting a U50 hydro with a bubble would be extremely unlikely but i guess its worth checking
This really looks like a watch that a Navy Seal or a British Secret Agent would actually be wearing. I don't know if it's appropriate for a desk diver. 😊😊
Yeah I can definitely see it on the wrist of a navy seal! That said, I do need it for when there might be a chance of rain outside. Can't be too careful😅
Sadly the quartz engine in this watch is vastly inferior to the ETA quartz. In is big brother the Sinn UX hydro . It does not thermo compensate and its accuracy comes nowhere near the 10sec plus/minus A year of the UX hydro.
i think others have said that its about $200-250 ish but I'm not exactly sure but given the long battery life i see it more as a reasonably priced servicing lol
I've been eyeing this Sinn. I much prefer tool divers over dress divers and quartz over auto. A neat Easter egg is that the second hand moves then jumps back slightly because of the oil. You can see it in the close up in your video. Most watch snobs would find this abhorrent, but I thinks it's cool!
Same here I love my divers and I love my quartz watches so this Sinn was already appealing but making it oil filled just sends this to the next level. And yeah the second hand jumping ahead is super cool I still remember how incredible it was seeing the UX for the first time years ago
Try to live with your disappointment, or at least accept it LOL. Ps. Sinn will do custom changes like change to other hands. Yes, they charge that extra. BAM, that’s maybe your next disappointment.
Cool watch for sure… but lame that ETA continues to restrict movements. I hope that movement maker La Loux-Perret will continue gaining momentum in the industry (LOVE the G100, and their other offerings), and literally showing up ETA & Sellita. I hope they expand into quartz offerings, including thermocompensated. There’s no reason they shouldn’t or cpuldn’t, with their Miyota/Citizen backing.
It's an awesome watch and battery changes can take some time however the battery in this movement can last up to about 10 years! So the way I see it is I'm getting an awesome experience with a super long service interval😁
The reason for the non classic Sinn Diver hands is also the oil filled thing, because the diver hands will give to much resistance. So they had to choose the "pilot" hands.
Great to hear from a UX owner, and I'm happy to see that you're enjoying not one but two of them! Also have you had to send yours in for the battery change yet?
No not yet, bought both my full black GSG9 on bracelet & standard grey EZM 2B (also on braclet) back in 2022 so should still have a few years before a service / battery change. Loved the GSG9 so much I wanted one in the grey as well. Proper GADA tank watch!
The UX looks awesome. I’m planning on getting one. Do you have any feedback regarding the wearability of the UX and do you recommend the Tegimented over the non t?
43mm & not the lightest watch but i wear mine with no issues. I think it has to be full Tegiment! They are just cool no nonsense tough as f@#k tool watches 👍🏻
I've owned three Sinn's and the lume is truly, truly pathetic. Like, some of the worst I've ever experienced on any watch, at any price point. For the amount of love Sinn gets, people sure love to gloss over how useless the lume is. Especially considering people talk about how Sinn make the best tool watches. So I'm not surprised it's useless here too.
What Alexander said in his comment, but also the good thing is that the battery lasts many many years some folks are saying up to 10 years which for me means it's going beyond a mechanical watch's service interval so it's not too bad considering the experience of the watch
Roll over Rolex, Sinn is the undisputed new king of dive watches with incredible depth rating AND perfect wearability in daily conditions. By the way, the fairly poor lume is not really an issue. If you can dive down to 5000 meters (and survive), it means you are Superman and your laser vision will make up for this. No issue, really.

What a fantastic watch, definition of over engineered with insane specs and yet it can just... be a watch. It's the ultimate sleeper

You mean your U50 Hydro (or UX) getting +1 sec/month? My U50 Hydro SDR is +2 sec/week since Feb release.
@@1millionstartups Hydro U50
@@user-cx8zc6rh8z It's a great size. Mine is very accurate. Maybe I am lucky but it is gaining about 1 to 1.5 sec per month.

Your commentary make me loving Sinn even more 🥲
Cringe!
Is 5000m enough to use when you’re washing dishes? I often splash my wrists so I’m not sure if it’s enough water resistance.
I took a huge risk dipping mine into that bowl so if I were you I would be super careful about washing dishes. Gotta watch out for that dynamic pressure

You can’t use that watch to wear outside a beach house.

I tried one on my puny 6.5” wrist yesterday and couldn’t believe how well it wore. There’s some kinds of wizardry at play here I reckon! 🧙♂️
I think you can wear UX and the size might suits you better. But U50 is also a good choice.
Leverage the strap to open the micro adjustment, works like a charm.
I still prefer the ux gsg9 edition with hands all white. Just a masterpiece for a midsize oder big wrist. Both, military and noble at the same time.
This is so interesting. I wish there were more oil filled watches in the market
Cool knife is the background 👍🏻
Too open the clasp to use the micro adjust pull on the strap to pop it open. Good description in the instructions with a picture.
I enjoyed your review, thank you for such good quality video. Subscribed !

Your Sinn looks really nice on your wrist. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
Thank you so much Sinn made a great watch here! Glad you enjoyed the video 😀
They just need to make these arrow hands and indexes on a u50 case with the selita movement, it’s the end game for me
Thank you so much nkuwan for taking us shopping🛍…my wish list just got longer
A Sinn 144stsa will mostly likely be my next watch. I'm going no dehumidifier system. Since that can only be serviced by Sinn in Germany 🇩🇪 I rather have my watches serviced by my watchmaker but still awesome tech
They should have made this the official watch of the Oceangate Titan, then they might have actually had one piece of equipment that actually works.
I was going to get a Hydro a few years ago until I found out that an air bubble was deemed acceptable by Sinn.

My thoughts on Sinn: 1) Great watches 2) QA is falling off 3) Good luck getting one serviced at an authorized service center.
Nice watch and review 😃
You are lucky bro. 45 yrs gone still i can't manage to get a dive watch 😢. Some passion is not for all though. Anyway wear in a good health.
Any idea of battery life and cost to fit a new one?
i think others have said that its about $200-250 ish but I'm not exactly sure but given the long battery life i see it more as a reasonably priced servicing lol
It looks small because the bezel doesn’t attract the eye while the dial does imho

As a UX wearer, I'm disappointed that the U50 HYDRO doesn't use the lego hands.

Crazy legibility

Yes please. The very best, ultimate diving watch, the very best of all diving watches. This is the one to buy.
My one complaint is the price. 3 grand for a quartz watch? I don't care if it's filled with liquid gold, come on.
Yes I agree. High-tech like this should be free LOL
It’s priced right
Great video, Sinn make such good watches 👍🏻
