      Yes, the music track is WAY too loud compared to the vocal track. Most CZcamsrs are terrible at balancing audio levels. My husband is a professional videographer and audio levels are a critical part of what he does in his professional work every day. He's taught me how to do it in my own videos (mine are just for fun). It's called EDITING. Meaning, you go back and actually *listen* and *watch* your video after you've recorded it, checking to see if the vocal track can be easily heard and the music levels are not too loud or distracting (which in the case of this video, they are). For some of us, too-loud music makes the entire video un-watchable.

      I bought an 18" x 48" piece of 1/2" plywood at Home Depot and covered it with cotton batting - has to be all cotton, polyester would melt from the heat of the iron - and then a lightweight natural canvas. I just put it on top of my ironing board and it stays put, although it could be moved to a counter or any place you'd like. It works very well and was much less expensive than ones I've seen to buy, and it only took about 40 mins to make. Oh - the wood could be MDF or shelving, etc. It just needs to be heavy enough to not bend.

      Hi Kathy! I love it too! It great for sewing projects as it’s a “Quilter’s Ironing Board”. It’s not so great for ironing clothes. (I keep two ironing boards set up). This ironing board is from Singer - I got mine from a small specialty quilting store but as I understand, the shipping was expensive so the company either stopped making them OR maybe they stopped shipping to Canada -where shipping is crazy expensive. You might be able to source one if you’re not in Canada or, with a little time, you might be able to make a cover for a regular ironing boarding

    Why don't you a lining to the apron? The material looks thin and working in the kitchen it does not look sturdy.

      @@thefriendlyfox Evan as a crafter, I would like a more sturdy apron. The fabric itself looks too thin for an apron period. If you lined it with a contrasting fabric, making it reversible, would have made more since. By doing that, the bias strip wouldn't be needed and would make a better looking apron. Add the pockets to each side before joining the two apron sections together.

    I like your video and your pattern. I’d never seen that pattern paper before. I have a CZcams channel and I see you got a lot of flack over the music. I quite like the music, it just needs to be much lower and you should get an inexpensive mic to pare with your phone (camera) if that’s what you’re filming with. It takes a bit to figure all these things out, but you’ll get there.

    Hi, Thanks for the tutorial and I may make one some day, I did appreciate your obvious expertise. However, how could anyone other than an expert make this in 20 minutes? I’m sure you personally can, and expert sewers too, but it can’t be a commonplace skill, especially given this seems to be aimed at people who watch this to learn. I don’t mean this in a mean way, I know you have to have enticing titles to gain viewers on CZcams, but to earn long term/repeat viewers you have to not fake draw them in. Meaning this in a kind way and not to discourage. I wish you tons of good luck. It’s a really cute retro apron!

      I have other machines, like my workhorse Nelco I bought in 1978 & it has Never been to the repair shop!
      What were your repair issues, if you don’t mind me asking?

    • @thefriendlyfox
      @thefriendlyfox  Před rokem +1

      Your Nelco sounds like a dream! The repairs I had done were 1) because the needle wouldn’t move, so the gears were seizing, 2) it wouldn’t zig zag and 3) the power cord/foot pedal had to be replaced.

    As a musician, I'm probably the most critical person on earth when it comes to annoying music, however I didn't even notice the music til I read the annoying comments. I think that's hilarious and if you knew me, you'd think it was hilarious too. I was watching so closely hoping I would learn how to make this darling apron, I didn't hear anything but the sound of your voice.
    I do have a constructive bit of criticism though, if you don't mind.... I can write a song about anything, play numerous instruments, blah, blah, blah, BUT I have never made an apron. I need some kind of idea for measurements. I must have that. Like if I was going to demonstrate to you how to write a song I would make sure you have everything you need to get started, not just a pen and paper. I'd give you rules for songwriting, etc. Just grabbing a guy's tape measure, placing it on your self, and hurriedly saying, "from here to here, then draw a line", means absolutely nothing to me. It feels like you're dangling a carrot and laughing.....if I watched this video 20 times I could not make this apron. How long is "here to here"? Where is the point of reference for the "here"?
    Can you please think of the amateur sewist, and maybe realize that not everyone watching a "begginer" video is actually a seasoned professional? Thank you 😊
