As much as I do agree with you… and feel badly for Callum a lot at times while wanting to body slam ben 🤣. Callum has been told endlessly by others and even Ben himself that Ben is bad news/messed up/only causes trouble/etc. but he still sticks by him cause he loves him and I feel can relate to him in ways. So? I only feel badly for Callum up to a degree cause he’s the only one that’s actually chosen to be there 🤣🤣🤣 (Tho I ship the two like mad… I still feel they’re building to some SNAP IT TOGETHER yet again hopefully for that final flipping push w Ben cause all of this is so so so shoddily/repetitive/ back to the bare bones of his annoying part of his characterization as if he didn’t learn anything after the rape (in which WE KNOW HE DID) but they just tend to ignore he did to write this mostly garbage plot cause irl Emma had to leave so he went from being very decent and helpful and kind with Lola Lexi jay to this of course /right/ when Phil opened the boxing gym 🙄)

The writers always make him be super understanding, be super patient, be almost like a saint, because his function in the show is to be there for Ben. We never know what Callum feels or thinks about the things that have happened... about anything. I love the couple. But I will never stop being bothered by how their relationship is written by the writers. It's not an equal thing.

Callum would catch on immediately. So? Also since this isn’t directly linked to Callum in a lot of ways unlike the breakup last year ffs ..I think we get he’s nervous about Ben but just obv thinks it’s due to Lola dying because that’s a huge horrible thing for anyone to deal with - added on top of ben’s usual reactionary ways.. and he’s sad as hell for Lola and worried for Lexi. Sadly he’s not a big part of this - but for years he and Ben were almost more of a factor in Lexi’s on screen storyline while Lola was only around to fuss at Ben to take Lexi to school or talk for a minute or two about Lexi and then boom she’d vanish from the entire show for another week or two until they were ready to make her do the entire Lexi convo w Ben yet again) We’re just waiting on part 5849238585949382 of whatever point the show wants Ben to learn/Ben opening up to Callum for things to MOVE SNAP SNAP MOVEEEE ALONG cause we’ve watched this same plot but in different ways since 2021 really.

But Lola is dying … and Callum knowing Ben acts out over mostly anything in life knows when something this huge and horrible means he’s going to act out even more (whispers TPTB using him as a whipping boy plot twist as usual TPTB). So y’all really expect Callum to sit out in the street yelling at ben when that won’t do anything but make things worse w ben which Callum knows. Let’s be real? The only thing anyone could do atm to make ben stop all of this is to lock him away in a room somewhere.

Tony Clay looks bored all his character does these days is counsel Ben. I don't understand why Callum is even on show anymore? Callum doesn't do anything interesting anymore. Critics of Callum on social media got a point the character importance has gone down. He is limited the writers has segregated the character from rest od square. Callum has no friends of his own which is ridiculous. Even Felix has friends. If the writers cared about Callum he would be forming friendships with other characters. He would have a gay friend besides Ben by now. The writers ignoring Callum perspective actually hurts Ben storyline. The audience isn't getting Callum view on how Ben mental health issues are affecting him. That's just bad writing. The inequality in the relationship makes Ben less sympathetic.
