    Useful, because it seems to cover the XC70 (II) facelift 2006 D5 too. I have spent 2 hours looking for the yellow atf dipstick now... The one everyone is talking about. The problem with most of these youtube movies is that it shows petrol versions (US), while diesel is most common in Scandinavia.

    When I did XC60 d5 2011. It was that bad , I flushed it out twice with clean oil then one last refill, It fixed the problems and that was 3 years ago going strong. They were told needed new gearbox at the time. I love the sump plug design.

    9 litres and you can change oil 3 times.

    ZF say if your BMW has done over 100k miles to put the old oil back in if changing filter/ sump leak. An oil additive is recommended if adding new oil is needed.

    I just done this on me own d5 after i watched this. i was told i should resist the the cars computer so the car knows it has new oil , i dont have the computer tool to do this and the car drives very wel and changes gears smooth enough so do you think it is something that has to be done and what would happen if i did get it done would it feel even better . using your refill method does not ensure correct level. after draining and refiling, transmission needs to be exercised, (run thru all gears at 2000rpm), and temp at approx 80deg C; remove level check plug and fill with oil until oil FLOWS ( always some sign of oil in check tube) from g/box thru check plug. Always found these trannys low on oil otherwise. Good vid!!

    Can you use a cheaper oil to flush? As £20÷ a litre to flush Seems rather excessive to me..

    • @g0fvt
      @g0fvt Před měsícem

      Shop around, you would not believe how cheaply it can be bought for, I just paid £11 for 6 litres of fluid. Fully synthetic and the right grade, this gearbox type is used in many cars. Some Toyotas use the Aisan Warner, Google is your friend. The deal I got was so suspiciously good that I only ordered 6 litres, something to bear in mind is some companies have strange pricing structures. Buying 6 1 litre bottles was the cheapest way to buy it from this supplier... as I was writing this I just ordered a further 6 litres and got a further discount! So a total of 12 litres for under £20.

    • @g0fvt
      @g0fvt Před měsícem

      There is a filter assembly in the gearbox, it is not like your average RWD automatic, it pretty well means taking the entire gearbox apart. (Not just dropping a sump pan).

    Why is it many dont do this??
    I mean timing belt will always be done but this not so much
    Chatting with a Mechanic at the motor factors when buying fluid for mine and advised be not to do it?and if i did just do a drain n fill?and not multiple fills which makes sense to me would be beneficial...he even so far as to say if u have problems after.doing this you would keep the old oil n replace it if it now has problems....very odd

      Hi. They're using the tf80sc transmission, does this mean I could remove the tf80sc from a v70 or S60 / S80 and replace the tf80sc transmission in the xc90? Or what's the difference of its not a straight forward transplant? I'm asking since I have a guy selling an overhauled S60 gearbox tf80sc and instead of overhauling mine, I thought of purchasing that.

    Quick and dirty roadside version of changing the gearbox oil.
    Proper Volvo procedure is way more thorough and complete in it's fluid change process, hence why you pay more for it, you get what you pay for - like always.
    This will still be better than nothing tho for sure.

    • @nesmio7378
      @nesmio7378 Před rokem +4

      @@ORileysAutos On these Volvos the correct procedure is to disconnect the return line from the gearbox cooler and run it into a container whilst running the car to empty the system through the line, let 2 liters empty then fill up again and doing so 3 times before doing a final drain and refill and setting to correct level. This way you have a near 100% flush with no machine, this is the factory procedure for Volvos at the dealers, my Volvo colleagues next to me do a lot of these at our dealer and I do some on my customers Peugeot cars, they are the same gearbox after all and there for the same procedure, also same with the new 8 speed Aisin gearbox ;)

      If a proper Volvo workshop cant be bothered to purchase and use a transmission flush machine they should rethink their way of doing business.
      The machine is quicker, easier and streamlines the process a ton thats why at least around me every garage has one.
