  • Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno knew that his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was sexually abusing a child as early as 1976, according to a claim by an insurance company.

Sandusky left in '99 out of the blue and didn't take another job. You don't have to be a detective to know that they knew about his actions. Then in '01, he was caught and nothing happened. Shameful. Putting football over children.

No longer news. Let Sandusky rot. And let Paterno rest in peace. Stop dodging the real news about emails.

The ncaa should take all of paterno's wins and records. Cause he is wrong for ignoring children being abused.

We all should have known. Why was a defensive genius not given another coaching job? They knew.

+imateapot51 Exactly , he put several guys into the NFL. Yet , he didn`t ever get a head coaching job in the college ranks .Paterno kept him around with the hope that he could "control" Sandusky . He was just trying to control his own legacy . He knew that Sandusky would go out there and molest kids and eventually it would blow back on Penn State and him .

It's football uber alles at Penn State and virtually ALL other institutions of "higher learning" in America where the practice of bread circuses works quite well on the masses. Sandusky was very good at his coaching job, one of the best, and he nearly left PSU for the NFL. When that happened the school lined up to kiss the back of Sandusky's trousers to keep him on board. I think they may have been ready to make burnt offerings to assure his coaching presence in Happy Valley. They succeeded. Sadly -- very sadly -- Paterno et alia knew. They knew.

+nismozx6r He knew because Sandusky mysteriously left coaching for no known reason. It is very sad that the school covered up for him. Would they have done the same for an English Professor? I doubt it. Football is way too big , out of control too big. They will take gang bangers with rap sheets if they can run the 100 in 9 seconds. Penn State was the worse.
