- Here's the first running video of the Traxxas Slash 4x4 running 2s vs 3s lipo. Both batteries are HPI Plazma series, 2s is 4000MAH 20C discharge and the 3s is 3200MAH 30C discharge.

This video mainly shows speed comparisons between the 2 and 3 s lipo. Run times are around 30-35 minutes on the 2S 4000, and 20-25 minutes on the 3s 3200.

Yo, I live in the UK and I have a Slash 2wd. I've got it completely stock atm but i would like to get more power out of it. Is it worth buying a 2s LIPO and where do you buy it? As I can only assume you are from UK :p

Put it on Lipo mode so it doesn't ruin ur lipo
PUT IT ON LIPO MODE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF RUINING YOUR BATTERY AND ESC! TO DO THIS HOLD THE ESC BUTTON UNTIL IT BEEPS AND TURNS GREEN.
Hey jake I noticed when you put 3 cell in the esc light was red it needs to be green when running lipo.
I'm running a 3S 5200Mah 50C battery in my Slash VXL 4x4, and it's insane. I have ran 3 packs though it, and the rear tires are bald, but I never blew a tire on it. I have a new set of tires, but I'm waiting to run them.
I upgraded the shocks, and installed a set of Pro-Line Power Stroke shocks on it, with a factory sway bar kit, and it made a world of difference in the way it handles. I also installed a set of steel drive shafts front and rear, as the stock ones wore out pretty fast on me. Next thing I'm going to get for it is a set of 2.8 inch tires, and change the gearing. I have a set of RPM bumpers, A Arms, Castor blocks, and rear bearing carriers that I haven't installed yet.
Down the road I will upgrade the shock towers, and steering bellcrank.

you need to turn on li-po cut off or you'll run the risk of the battery exploding or setting on fire
Yes if you notice in the box I ran a NIHM before this video and forgot to change to LIPO mode. All my RCs run LIPOS and all run in LIPO mode buddy. Honest mistake
This is a 2 year old post. It takes 10 seconds to hold the button down to save a 60 dollar battery. It's well worth the time. They have a cutoff for a reason
Only lipo my friend there is no better battery in the world for the rc's. Everything else is from the 80's and 90's, exactly the same technology that we use in our rc toys.
Are there any other modifications that have to be made once you move up to 3s? Can the stock parts handle the jump in power?

I've got an xl1 rustler from 2000 that I put the vxl in and with 3s even with a wheely bar it is absolutely insane, with 2.8 trenches on all 4 sides it's absolutely insane, probably 80 mph it's scary
Upgraded my sons 2wd slash today with a hobbywing esc kit and 4000kv motor. Glad i only bought 2s as the thing is a weapon now. Almost too fast! Wheelies when its on concrete!

Do you need a new ECU for that?
Were you running that LiPo on low voltage detection? It loooked like it wasn't on, which is very bad for the speed control. Might have been an accident

what tires are you using I have a slash 2wd I'm runing castle brushless and a 3s 5000 mah 35c venom lipo its all aluminum but it gets no tracktion
Ok you have tested on 2 cell wrong like every one else. Your car comes with a 13 tooth pinion installed . To run a 2 cell you have to install the 19 tooth pinion that comes in box. It is the only pinon for 2 cell for that car according to traxxas. It's on your box. And makes the car 5 mph slower than 3 s with less breaking of car. Ime staying 2s done the right way. Fast enough better control.

fantastic i think you have sold me one lol, im not new to rc cars i have been racing them for years so know the common problems faced with everything when changing from stock. In your honest opinion do they run on 3s all day long happy, or does running them on 3s start shredding the box after a while, i only ask because i have made this mistake with cars tooooo many times. lol Thanks for your help by the way its much appreciated.
Which would be best for a traxxas rustler vxl? I was thinking of a 2s lipo with a higher c rating just so I don't overheat my motor and esc with a 3s. Did your motor and esc get hot when running the 3s lipo.

Man, I've recently received my very first RC car and it's the 1/16 slash. I've been scavenging for info to find out if it is Lipo compatible, and if so, do I need to upgrade everything from stock form to make it compatible or can I run Lipo out of the box?

I am thinking of getting a slash 4x4 (Platinum Edition) soon, and i was thinking of getting Gens ace 5000mah 3s lipo. The only thing i am not scared of.. is 50c to much? Am i gonna nuke this thing the moment i step on it? D:
50c will be fine, the car will only draw as much power as it needs, so the higher the c rating the less chance of the car drawing too much current and ruining your battery. There is much more detailed videos on this that will help a lot.

Where did you buy it from? All the ones i see don't show whether its 3s or 2s (I'm new to RC stuff so..)
Go look on model sport UK they sell all lipos sizes and capacitys. They also link the battery's to the cars if you are looking to find them easily. Just search slash and go on the recommended battery's and you will find a good fit :) hope this helps lol

you need a radargun or gps there is no way to tell just how fast its doing, Id say 30 and maybe 45 mph

Yes. Destroys tyres, have broken 3 input shafts and destroyed the diff twice, plus hits harder when you stuff it, so expect to buy more A-arms and driveshafts. 3s is too much for the Slash IMO. My 3s is retired, 2s all the way for me now. Well, unless someone asks me how fast it can go....
sorry, 7.1v 5000mah. mate the traxxas slash out of box does 60mphr . though that is with a 2 c battery. this is friggin deadly fast, backflips when flat stick,

its the 3500 brushless and the vxl3 esc i did notice yesterday that after running it for a few seconds the esc would start blinking red then slow down

3s can be used for bashing it just brakes your car more. You need all kinda upgrades and even tjen you crash hard. I hit a car tire and. Broke 90 percent of my truck

How many volts
The 2s is 7.4 volts and the 3s is 11.1 volts. 3.7 volts per cell
