Painting as a hobby. I can barely draw stick figures. Also, I don't have $1000.00 budget. On Amazon I bought a vivohome airbrush compressor kit for $100.00. Came with two gravity fed dual action airbrushes. One siphon fed. Bought a variety 12 pack of 1oz paints and also came with a deglazer and finisher. A variety 18 pack of 1oz paints that came with a variety 5 pack of paint brushes. Each pack cost $20.00 and are acrylic leather paint.
Bought a battery sander like the Ryobi one DCF uses for $35.00.
In women's shoe section at Walmart, they have all white "air forces" $16.00.
I just finished my Jordan 1 custom I love them thanks for inspiring me

Offering to do a pair for free is smart as long as you are targeting that person to leverage more work. Someone coming to you asking for a free pair for exposure gets a door slam. 25 years as a photographer taught me at least that much.

Dylan, I’ve seen some custom kicks with a lot of texture added to the shoes. It almost looks like it’s carved into the leather. I’m wondering if you might be able to explain the process of that a little bit?

Hi Dylan. Here’s a good example on one of my favorite pairs that I’ve yet to have. The P-Rod’s. There’s texture all throughout these especially in the back white panel with the diamond shape pattern. I’m curious to know how something like that can be accomplished on a custom pair of sneakers.

Is it possible to acetone a pair of vans to use again and again for content purposes?
If they’re leather yes, canvas creates an odd mess since the paint is hard to get out! But it’s worth a shot
In a previous video you used multiple grits of sandpaper, and I’m just curious what do the multiple grits do? Opposed to just using one fine grit?
It’s just something I tested years back to make paint stick better and it was the method that worked best for me lol

Let's say I'm about to airbrush a sock liner. Is it ok to use 2-thin for the airbrush AND 2-soft for the sock liner? Okay to mix them? Same with airbrushing a back tab with 2-thin and 2-hard... I have had a new airbrush for a while and have yet to break it out and was wondering about the mixing of the additives... Thanks for all you do, btw!
2soft will do the job of thinning out your paint enough for airbrush fabrics.. however 2hard won’t thin your paint so when airbrushing a tab for instance you would want to use just enough 2 thin to be able to run through a mesh strainer and you’d be good to go

in some quality brushes, stencils (shows toothpick) .. considering I started painting recently and immediately gave up on brushes when it comes to details makes this even more hilarious.. love it :D

How do you handle the stress of having too much business? I find I'm struggling to get orders out by the given deadlines due to several orders having the same due dates. Not a bad problem to have, but definitely overwhelming at times.
Could be time to potentially get some additional help to speed things up, or time to raise prices! I also learned many years back to always always have way longer wait times than I even expect it’ll take so that I give myself breathing room.

I see al those cool sneakers with Pokémon, Spongebob, Disney and other cartoons and brand stuff on them. How does it work with copyrights? Can you just sell sneakers with this stuff on it? Or is there something you must do before you sell them?

Anything we do is really just 1 of 1 fan art. You really just can’t mass produce with them or cause brand confusion where people may think it’s an official release

How do you fix a deep fingerprint on a shoe
Honestly it’s gunna depend how bad it is, if you’re talking about on a wet painted surface the best bet would probably be strip the paint in that area and repaint
Is it truly wrong to use other leather brand paints besides Angelus paint because I see other leather based paint is paint markers good and what about alcohol ink markers
I don’t see anything wrong with other major paint brands .. there will always be pros and cons, I’m typically not the biggest fan of market especially for their consistency issues but some people have great success with em!
