Really dope video. I learned a lot had all my questions answered. I have two sons in cleats so I figured I'd work on customizing their cleats. Nothing looking good while handling business. I'll definitely remember prep,prep,prep most important. Light coats with ample drying time in between coats. And lastly take a break to make sure I stay on task. Also, I just wanted to ask 1 questions for today. When you have a pair of Van's, and you want to spray paint them to save time. Do you use 2soft rather than 2thin in your airbrush? Or how would you go about doing that? What do you recommend? Thanks in advance!
Thanks bud! Yeah when airbrushing any fabrics, 2 soft will also do the job or replacing 2 thin since it will thin your paint out enough to run through an airbrush
DE Jesus I have been watching many of your videos that I found initially from the Angelus website, just 1 question in this video: CUSTOM CLEATS | LV SUPREME BAPE | THE ULTIMATE PREP GUIDE I see that you do the deglazer first and then the sanding but in this one you use the sanding first and then the deglazer. Which do you recommend or it does not matter. I am only trying to learn to do some customs cleats for my daughters that they play softball, I am not a business just a diy'er

hey Pal!! I just finished the paint on a shoe. Just the paints done. I was thinking about using some adhesion promoter before spraying a matte finisher. Is that a good time to use adhesion promoter? if not, when? thank you!

Great question! Id say thats totally gunna range widely from artist to artist on what they believe their worth is... A good place to start till you get more comfortable is to say these cleats are going to take me X hours (lets say 8 for example) and I want to make Y per hour (lets say $25) then you would end up at around $200

@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Both. I've watched your video on supplies needed, very helpful. I've looked online at Harbor Freight's affordable model. However, I have not purchased the brush OR the compressor as yet. ( Money is always an issue, especially since I'm only customizing shoes for friends and family. I have not been brave enough to spread out further.)

Hello, 2 questions. To paint used football shoes (or any used shoe) is sanding just as important as a new shoe?

Yes always need to sand. To keep your stencils clean you basically wanna just wipe em and dab a towel or rag on top while the paint is wet so it can’t dry up on there

I’m a big fan of most of the Nike vapor untouchable pro cleats

What do you advise if someone just wants say initials and a jersey number on their cleats? I was asked for this on leather cleats. Would you just deglaze a small area for these, as I’m worried the topcoat will end up looking different to the factory finish. Seems overkill to deglaze the whole shoe? 🤔. Any advice much appreciated. Great content btw!
Yeah you can just prep the small area, then apply your finish everywhere

Hey,i just bought that same sander, but i can't for the life of my find any of those sand pads with that fine of a grit. Could you point me in the right direction. I'm doing a pair of cleats for the my cause my cleats program as well and really loved your video, it helped me tremendously!
Yeah so all we do is cut up full sheets of sandpaper and tape it down

I have a problem with my compressor. As i set my compressor at 40 psi or even 57(max) it drops to 10-15. I dont know what to do any advice?
You shouldn’t need to go that high anyway, but sorta sounds like the compressor can’t keep up with that type of psi maybe due to connections with your airbrush or something

so the adidas clear you did has a clothe texture but around the toe and lower base has a plastic ish clear cover over parts of it, do you sand that down to not exist? or just use acetone and paint over it?

You don’t prep the clothe part. Everything else has to be prepped!

Has anyone here customised a pair of Adidas Predator 18 SG? The material is some sort of flexible polymer coated fabric. Do I go at it with some 2 hard or will the slight flexibility make it crack to easy?
2hard only gets used on surfaces that have zero flex.. although I’m not familiar with the boot there’s not too many panels on boots that would have zero flex or that I’d be using 2hard on
does mixing the paint with the duller affect the outcome?
Yeah it gives it a more matte clean look

You can test out a lot of different materials for whatever cutter you may have. But we like Mylar the most

You don’t wanna sand down flyknit, that can just be painted over
