    I think he is talking about context. No means no to you, however not everyone is the same, so what he said is true. Context matters

      And he said that. Not in so many words, but enough to convey that very message.

      Well, that's pretty obvious, is sad those words have even to be typed. The day some of them learn the concept of "plausible deniability" they would understand half the things they do.

    • @wellfit1511
      @wellfit1511 Před 3 lety +23

      @Mo Elm words have only one meaning? For a start that’s not correct. Many words have multiple meanings and rely on context for their meaning. Who taught you English? That is why we use verbs, adjectives, nouns, pronouns, prepositions, adverbs, conjunctions and interjections. Even ones tone can change the meaning from a statement to question. This reply might the dumbest reply I’ve ever read. You may as well discard the words, figuratively and literally, because if you take everything as gospel then you would feel words are exactly as said. Take the word fuck, multiple meanings, can be derisive, can be an exclamation, can be exaltation. Words don’t only have one meaning, they rely on multiple factors to convey their meaning. Human beings are nuanced, they are not computers.

    • @wellfit1511
      @wellfit1511 Před 3 lety +22

      @Mo Elm that’s the point of skit. It doesn’t and he proceeds to show how. He also points out the inflection the same words can have in a court transcript. Same words, heard with different intent. You could not have missed the point more. You can hear the words, you just can’t comprehend the message.

    HAHAHAHA bullshit. EVERY woman I've been with has said no to things that they actually wanted to do. Being "playful" and shit. Guys have to LEARN that no doesn't mean no. When I was with my first girlfriend she told me no so I stopped doing what I was doing and she got mad at me for stopping.
    Me: "But you said no.."
    Her: "Well I didn't MEAN no!"
    Me: "Then why did you say it?"
    Her: "Ugh, you are sooo stupid!"
    Me: "Yeah, I'm the stupid one for knowing what words mean."
    Her: "Just get out. You've ruined the mood!"
    Me: "Whatever."
    Her: "Where are you going!?"
    Me: "I'm leaving, like you said."
    Her: "So you're just gonna go!?"
    Me: "You JUST told me to get out!"
    Her: "Why are you being so difficult!? GET OUT!"
    Me: Leaves
    Her: Texts me "I can't believe you just left like that. You are such an asshole!"
    Sure lady. No means no. Yeah right.

      True man. Couple of weeks ago I told a girl I like her and she said she likes me too and she also said that she was in a relationship recently (bad experience and break up) and is not ready to trust someone yet. I said that I know that and that I just wanted to let her know and not rush anything. Few days later she asked me "why did you not ask me out if you like me?" lol. So she did not literally said "no" but she did told me that she is not ready and then she was wondering why I backed up a bit hahah. So yes, "no" means "yes" sometimes.

    Ok so bill Burr actually had a point here that my future ex wife, JayShara, wasn’t trying to hear. What Bill Burr was saying is actually the reason why “playing hard to get” is a thing. But apparently JayShara, doesn’t play that game therefore Bill Burr is (affectionately stated) “Stupid.” She says that with her “no” means “no” and that’s that. Ok, but she also didn’t say how she specifically says “no” which was the entire point of Bill’s bit.

    Unfortunately, this "hard to get"-thing is a reality. Many female friends admit that they want the guy to chase them, that that makes them feel attractive. And that they play the game of seeming to reject him on different levels while wishing for the guy to work for it. Many of them is scared to be judged as sluts by especially female friends if they take initiative for sexual acts, and wait for the guy to take initial physical contact, which then is easier to renounce responsibility for. That phenomenon must be spoken about as well, for anyone who is honoestly interested in working to prevent when a real line of integrity is crossed.

    No means no for some women, but not others. For instance, once when I was younger, I tried to make my move and the girl said no so I left. Next day she called me asking what happened and whether she did anything wrong. I told her she seemed reserved and then she said she likes it when guys impose themselves on her and try push it a bit. As you get older you learn how to read women better but no defo doesn't ALWAYS mean no. As a human being you should be able to tell the difference between "no, I'm not interested" and when she says "no" in a playful way. Bill's just pointing out the nuance of it and how that could create problems when taken out of context. However, if a girl says "no stop it, get off" and you continue to make advances, that's clearly approaching rape/harrassment and tbh it should never even reach a point where a woman has to say that.

    You just proved his point with these insane narrow-minded individuals that love to play these games like context doesn't matter, believe all woman nonsense. I remember seeing an Instagram post from someone saying that if you question a woman's sexual-assault allegation that makes you a rape sympathizer. Anybody with common sense knows there's a clear difference between a stern, fearful or angry plea for somebody to stop doing something as opposed to a playful, surprised, happy plea for somebody to stop doing something to avoid judgment.
    It's kind of how the internet exploded when a certain show portrayed a false rape allegation and female reviewers were pissed. They were saying the show negatively impacted real victims and other terrible arguments to avoid the conversation. Nobody is saying that they're lying just that an investigation must be launched and that "innocent until proven guilty" still applies. In the past... a king could cheat all he wanted, but if a woman committed adultery it was punishable by death.
    When Bill Burr says "No Mean No" there is no "seeee..." I will never give preferential treatment to women just to appease their egos and push the false narrative that all women are saints who do no wrong, will never lie, and that we must liberate them from the evil tyranny of the patriarchy. You're ancestors dealt with more heartache, oppression, and sexism than this modern generation of women, so please drop the perpetual victimhood mentality and expect the fact that while you may be of the opposite gender at the end of the day you're a human.
    Bill's not stupid at all, He just doesn't play favorites and isn't afraid to ask questions. To be honest if you're a strong independent woman that don't need no man because we all are equal, then you should have no problems with society correcting the double standards that benefit you.

    I just love Daniel Tosh. Like Bill Burr he is pretty fearless and will go to any politically incorrect subject to get a laugh. One clip I think you'd like is "Daniel Tosh - White" It is 7:06 in length. Or you might get very adventurous and check out, "Completely Serious part 1" where he has the greatest surprise punchline about when he jokingly said he diddled his teacher. The one joke about colors in Maine was a bit dark but like I say Tosh will go anywhere for a laugh.

    There are a fair number of women who do actually play coy and mask their intent though, they make it a game where 'no' doesn't actually mean no, and you're supposed to be the big bad wolf who blows their straw house (of fake innocence) down and devour them.
    Not *really* sure why it's a thing, but it is. Not to kink shame or anything.

    He wasn’t wrong though, when you say no you mean no but not every single no from every woman is always no. He is 100% right sometimes it’s said exactly like that and for the reason he said.
    I remember way before Metoo when I was young a woman I was with said no just like that, so you know what I did? I stopped but I knew I was messing with her to see what she would say. She was completely caught off guard, looked at me completely bewildered and said why did you stop? I told her she said no and do you know what she said? Yeah, but I didn’t mean it. So yes, men should stop but not every no is really no.
