THANKS so so much, Jake! I just got the Mavic 3 Pro yesterday, and I am doing my first flight today and this was very helpful and to the point. Enjoy the summer! Cheers. 😀
AWESOME!!
Genuinely helpful man, thank you! I appreciate you meticulously breaking every little control down. Being totally new and needing to get things running asap for a shoot, this was a crucial rundown.
glad it was helpful
This was by far the best how too video every. Thanks Jake.
Thanks!
Great video!! Just purchased the Mavic 3 Pro Cine and your video definitely helped me, I'm coming from the DJI FPV so this is a huge difference. Thanks again!!
Glad I could help!
I'm putting my preflight checklists for my drones now and this video has given me an excellent start.
fantastic
Wow. you are the best introducer on the internet for everyone who know nothing in details with their drone. Keep it up. Nice video. Really interesting and enjoying.
THank you
I needed a clear tutorial on the RC controller and your explanation was as very helpful. I feel a lot more confident in the use of it. For now, I will be using mostly Auto mode.
awesome!
Awesome Video Jake! Thanks for breaking down every detail! Very Useful for sure! keep up the amazing work!. you just gained a fan and a sub!
Thanks!
Excellent video Jake ! Thanks so much.
My pleasure!
Great video, super helpful, thank you Jake!
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great informative video. I have a dji mini 4 pro but considering this drone. Great work, tnx!
thanks
Thanks Jake. This was very helpful! I've been away from DJI for 3-4 years and needed to get familiar again. In fact back then the Fly app had just come out, and I was disappointed about the features we lost from the Go4 app. It looks like Fly has come a long way. I feel much more familiar after viewing your vid a few times.
it has there are still a few features I miss from the go4 app but the fly app has come a long way
Amazing video, extremely helpful.🙂
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, thank you so much for the good information. This will help me a lot to shoot better video.
Glad to hear it!
Thank you .. just what I'm looking for.
Glad I could help
Solid overview video. Thanks, very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
thanks for taking the time todo this
My pleasure!
Fantastic information dense overview, thanks.
Thanks
I saw you were selling your old Mavic 3 on marketplace so I KNEW this video would be coming, great stuff!
hahahaha yep! I dont need 3 mavics, I have one mavic 3 cine and one mavic 3 pro cine I just don't need to keep a regular mavic 3 lol
Great info. Thanks.
You're welcome
Nice setup, thanks for sharing your settings.
No problem 👍
Very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great demo on using the DJI Mavic 3 Pro on the RC Pro controller Jake, very cool! I think Pro Res would be a great way to go!
agreed and thanks Mark!
As am i looking into buying one version or another of these, it was really helpfull. Thanks.
Awesome
Thank you, super useful.
Glad it was helpful!
Bought the 3 about 3 months ago only flew it 4 times so far

Thanks! 👍
Thank you for sharing
My pleasure
Thank for a great video.
You're welcome!
Thank you!!
You're welcome!
Hi Jake....Great video. I've learned to always keep an ear out for planes. They don't always transmit ADSB.
Definitely!!
Right on!
Cheers
Great Video Thanks for all the time you saved me! I will buy you a beer this summer if you come to Valdez!
you're welcome
Thank you very much!
Helpful
Glad to hear that
Thanks once again for taken the time out to show us your settings. Question ⁉️ Does the Mavic 3Pro Cine you are using still kill the sensors in Sports mode and if so can you manually put them on?
the sensors will not operate in sport mode and there is no way to keep them on
I was especially interested to hear/see what Gain & Expo settings you use. This was great to see. What I hoped you'd mention was the fact that when in 7x, the Yaw and Tilt max speeds for example are dumbed right down for good reason, but I find no way of adjusting these max speeds while in 7x. Am I missing something? One thing that just came to mind (which I haven't checked out yet) was whether or not the Gain & Expo settings page is dependant on which camera lense you currently have selected, but I'm guessing it doesn't.
I haven't either, the best you can do is put the drone into cine mode and way slow the settings down
THX, especially " update the GPS home point " if I'm moving !
you're welcome
Nice .... 😍👍
Thanks!
@@JakeSloan wc 😊
Another no nonsense video that is super useful. Quick question, once the gain settings are changed in the controller is there any way of locking them do you don’t have to change it each time you turn the drone on?
Thanks! that has been hit or miss with me, on the latest firmware it has kept the settings but the firmware before that it did not
Great video one sub for you 😊
Thanks
Thanks for putting this out Jake. What thumbsticks are you using? They don't look like the stock ones.
I have a video coming Friday showing those! but they are hanatori sticks on Amazon
How does the transmission compared with the RC vs smart controller from mavic 2?
It’s considerably better
@@JakeSloan yes, I would be upgrading from magic 2 pro and I have the smart controller. However, I couldn't imagine spending $1100 on a controller if I didn't have to. I do go behind lots of trees and plenty of buildings, but as long as the regular RC controller can hold up then I'm good.
Hi Jake I just watched your video and it was really helpful…. I also have a dji mavic 3 pro I was wondering if you could help with a questions I normally burn my videos shot while recording whales specially when they breaching so could u please tell me what iso, aperture, shutter would you use ?!
I would set aperture at f8 or f9 and keep ISO as low as possible. shutter speed should be 2 times your video frame rate but for photos on that kind of subject material I would put my shutter speed to 1/250 or 1/320
Good coverage Jake. I particularly like that Camera settings, with multiple auto/manual toggles give us not just Shutter Priority and Aperture Priority but ISO Priority and any combination in between. Further, Auto ISO uses increments of 10, so instead of 100/200/400/800/1600 - you can have, for example ISO values of 810, 980,1550. That granular ability plus utilizing the multimeter, 3 cameras with really decent Split filters in the Fly More now.. All of which makes everyone a potential master cinema artist, or hopelessly lost. I fall somewhere in the middle. Depending on the day, lol.
Thank you and I agree!!
Jake, we need a more detailed video on the Mavic 3 Pro Cine please. When you have time. Thank you
More detailed in what way?
@@JakeSloan More focus on best setting for shooting in ProRes and how to grade the footage, pretty please! Thank you for everything!
Very helpful video. Do you know why active track doesn’t work with 1x camera? What settings would allow it? Thanks
active track does work with the 1x camera just not in 5.1k resolution or if you have the cine version it won't work when you are recording in prores. The 1x camera can active track in 4k 60fps or lower
!! So no active track at all in ProRes, at any resolution? Negates one reason for having the Cine version.
I recently got the Mavic 3 classic! I can't shoot very nice videos in pro mode, I'm from a mini 3 pro! Do you recommend putting one or more of these in auto ISO, shutter speed and aperture when I record?
NICE! I recommend keeping shutter at 2x your frame rate, the ISO at the lowest you can and then use the aperture to adjust the exposure
Thanks a lot for this. I have a question. the Dlog ative Iso for the 1x camera is 400iso. what is the Dlog M Native Iso for the 3x camera?
DLog-M native iso is 100 and up etc, it doesn't quite work the same as DLog on the main camera
good video... thank you... question - i use .mov (i'm a mac guy) any advantage in using mp4
not really both are just a container for the compressed video file either will work equally well on Mac
@@JakeSloan thanks
Thks for your vidéo, any option to modify the speed of the gamble movement ?Thks in advance
you can adjust the gimbal speed and stop response
@@JakeSloan I cannot find how 😩 can u help me ?
Thanks Jake. I think the Mavic are making my Inspire 2 redundant, even in picture quality. I see that you don’t use the Pro controller, even though you fly Cine cameras. Do you think it is worth having?
for the Mavic 3 I do use the pro controller exclusively now
Just a point about the obstacle avoidance icons (in the Fly App screen). I don't know if the M3 Pro has this issue, but the M3 did (and possibly still does). As low light conditions begin to set in, a very brief alert appears in the Fly App advising that obstacle avoidance is no longer available (insufficient ambient light). This is so brief that you have to be looking at the screen when it appears. Otherwise, you have to notice the obstacle avoidance icons have changed to red. I don't know why an audible alert sound couldn't have been included.
The first one
very good point, no obstacle avoidance works well in low light since they are all vision based
Hi Jake, thanks for the tutorial. Just want to ask what the difference is between the option of 3x 70mm lens 12mp or 48mp. Someone said 12mp has a larger range of dynamic range than 48mp, but I did not see any test of it.
it does because it can essentially shoot in a sort of HDR mode
Thanks@@JakeSloan
What's the biggest size micro sd card that can be used in the Mavic 3 Pro?
Also, what is the biggest size micro sd for the middle controller?
Ty
DJI says the max size is 512gb
Got a question. Is there a big difference between the mavic 3 cine and the mavic 3 pro cine? I know its kind of a random question but i do respect your opinion. Thanks
the only difference is the addition of the 3rd camera
Hi, Jack what microSD cards would you recommend for this or Mavic 3 pro drone?
Sandisk Exreme Pro? Samsung Pro Plus?
Thanks
Sandisk extreme pro work well. I’ve started using angelbird 128gb though and they are fantastic
@@JakeSloan would you say there is any quality difference in shooting 4k between them?
Nope
Hi Jake, just working through my Mavic 3 Pro features. Got caught out with collision avoidance not allowing me to land where I had taken off from!! Is there a way to momentarily override collision avoidance? (NB I never enable collision avoidance on my Inspire 2 as I don't often fly it close to anything)
if it won't let you land then you can turn it off temporarily but you have to go into the settings to do it
@@JakeSloan What fast service . . . Hi Jake. Would be nice if you could allocate a button to override, or even just keep holding the stick in the direction you want to go.. 15:30 here, due to change to winter daylight saving this weekend. BTW didn't you have a live session this week?
Hi
When you first set up your drone was your 3x camera on 12MP by default instead of 48MP?
yes it was because that is a default resolution
Thank you
Have you tried taking photos during a waypoints mission while recording and zooming in slightly at each point?
Ive tried but the photos come out blurry, I'm guessing the zooming is only for video recording.
Did you shoot the sitting part with the mavic 3 pro? I get that focus jitter non stop and it drives me nuts
that's focus breathing typical in Sony's GM lenses
mavic pro 3 with three cameras. my mavic 3 cine camera 1 already zooms from 1x to 3x...so what do I need a mavic pro 3 third camera for? Thank you
you get a better quality out of the dedicated 3x camera since it's all optical
Can you recommend affordable software for video editing? I subscribe to the Photographers Plan w/Adobe. I don't need Premiere. Thank you.
CapCut or the free version of davinci resolve
how to update the home point or is there a way to just set it to the Controller location >
There is no way to set it to the controller location unfortunately. The way to do it is tether the controller to your mobile phone hot spot and update it that way
Do you know why in D-Log the ISO is limited at 400 instead of 100? My Inspire 1 camera can go down to 100 in D-Log. What gives?
Different sensors. Dlog on the mavic 3 is limited to the iso where the sensor performs the best
I have a Mavic 3 pro Cine and flew it today. I took plenty of videos and pictures. For some reason on all the files it has a black background which looks like 2 gray mountains. Was I suppose to format the 1 TB INTERNAL storage? It’s a brand new drone BTW. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also subscribe to your channel. Thank you
Definitely format and try again. If it’s still there then you’ll need to contact DJI support
👌
cheers
what remote is that and how can i get one for my mavic 3 pro?
thats the DJI RC Pro and you can buy it from DJI
RC Pro has an internal GPS but it needs access to maps to set the home point
Exactly
Why does the camera remind me of the LEXX 790 series robot head???
Lol
I got the Mavic 3 Pro but didnt get the one with the RC Pro. wondering if I made a mistake not getting that
I think unless you need HDMI out you’ll be happy with the DJI RC or standard remote
Hi Jake. Does the HDMI out still work on playback? My Inspire 2 doesn’t which is a pain for reviewing a shot with the client.
i used to fly the Mavic 2 Pro, shame the new Fly app doesnt have the swipe up to get full screen mode with no info on the edges, so annoying to frame shots
true
I am shooting with Mavic Pro 3 Cine on D-log ProRes in 422 HQ, and I use 5.1K resolution at 25fps. I noticed that when I tried to edit on DaVinci Resolve, my files are really slow, and I use a Mac. Is it the format I use, or is it my Mac that's the problem? What should I do?
how old is you Mac? what version of resolve? to work with Resolve you should really film in h.265. Resolve doesnt really play very well with ProRes files
@@JakeSloan Mac pro m chip and I use resolved 18.6 the latest
I think has to do with the format I edit on DaVinci. What resolution you are using when you edit your videos what rate format exc and on what format of resolution?
I use D-Log ProRes 422HQ in mov format 4k and also 5k
Wait! 3280ft altitude is 1000m right?
That’s correct
How is the Air 3?
I wish I knew lol
