    I like my toms low also. I had a similar issue like that, so I ended up having to put a small piece of thick felt and / or foam to fix. Works well.

    You can purchase a reciprocating blade to cut the hi-hat rod. They sell them at any hardware store.

    I mean I guess the icon rack could go higher but also that’s the problem with power Tom sizes, they’re just harder to mount in general

      That’s my point. Make a product that works for all the drum shells you produce.

    You don't need higher rack.

    Dude, although Pearl makes great drums, I never dug their hardware so much, especially racks and those tom holders (pedals and hi hat stands are nice, though), but for what I can see you still have some margin there to raise a bit your toms. Maybe not the rack, but the holders. A bit to the limit, maybe, but still some room. As an alternative, I think you can adjust those tom suspension systems so the hole where the holder inserts gets lower on the tom, hence the tom would get in a higher position.
    (And yes, that tom will eventually break that bass drum lug if you keep it there).

    Beautiful set! A hi-hat/bass drum clamp will get it closer to the snare and out of left field. A double bass must have accessory. Just a suggestion

      Now that you mention it, I didn’t put the HH back exactly where it belongs when I took this video, but it’s pretty close. I’m used having my foot on booth pedals, so it’s not too weird for me.

    BTW subbed when you got the kit and watched as people commented about the setup. I liked the way you didn’t bend and kept it as one! The icon rack is a great evolution, and still keeps the integrity of what it was meant for! Rock on Brother!!

    Change the mount to new Pearl GyroLock-L holder THL1030. You can lift up your 15" tom with it.

    • @ks7507
      @ks7507  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Great idea. Except for 2 problems. Pearl never showcased this new hardware with deep shelled heavy power toms. As a result I don’t know if the hardware can handle it. I just spent $1300.00 on a rack system. Definitely not spending another dime without this knowledge ahead of time.

    Please don't take this the wrong way, but I would suggest moving the 13x15 to where the 14x16 tom is and put the 14x16 tom to the left of the hi hat on a tom holder. It would fix your lug rubbing issue. Obviously the other toms would have to be shifted over as well. I'm just confused as to why you would have a 14x16 tom and then a 16x16 floor tom right after it. It is literally the same drum. There is no tonal separation. Killer drums by the way. I love Pearl drums and power toms.

    • @ks7507
      @ks7507  Před 4 měsíci +1

      I’m not offended. At least you were respectful…so many jerks out there. I couldn’t disagree more, for two reasons. 1) My 16x14 mounted tom is 2” shallower than the 16x16 floor tom. And 2) the mounted tom is 6 plies 7.5 mm thick, the floor tom is 8 plies 10mm thick. There is a clear difference. 6”-16 mounted toms give complete tonal range.

      Are you sure about reason number 2? In an old 2014 Pearl catalog on their site, it states that toms/floors that are 14 inches in diameter and up, are 8 ply 10mm. Maybe the shell recipe has changed. As far as reason number 1, I don't see how a 2 inch difference in depth would make much of a tonal difference considering the shell thickness is the same. The resonance would be shorter and the note would be a little less deeper. The pitch would be almost identical. I don't hear a big difference. In all fairness, I'm not in your basement. Lol.
      I have a Pearl MRX kit with 8 -10 -12 - 14 - 15 toms (16 -18 floors.) I have the 15 to my left. (2)18x24 kicks and also bought 2 18x22 kicks as well. Couldn't make up my mind so I bought both. I have been wanting to buy a Masterworks in reference specs. I bet your kicks are monsters.
      I have a couple questions. Do the drums blend well together? Do the kicks resonate good, or are they a little stiff due to the really thick shell? I have read posts about the kicks being stiff with no resonance. Who knows?
      I love big ass power toms too man. Lol. Every kit I have owned has had power toms. It's the only way! I know the Reference floors are like cannons. I played on a Reference kit yrs back and I remember the floor toms being ridiculously loud and punchy. Sorry for the long winded response and all of the questions!
