Michael Cooney...loved him from the early 70's...he's the true folk singer...everything becomes clear when he sings...all his records & cds are fine documents...but obviously nothing comes close to reality like this video & live rceordings i've taped from public radio...God Bless Michael Cooney...there's a little guy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who just absolutely loves you.

I'm one of those old folks who was at those Philly Folk Festivals in the 60s--and another one who wishes there were more of MC on CZcams--or DVD or CD, if we can't see him in person any more. What a musical musician and superb instrumentalist--not to mention wit, singer, collector of great songs and stories ...
Thanks so much for adding this; sorry it's taken me so long to get back. His old timey songs always bring back great memories of 1966 for me! I hope he decides to do a CD of JUST old timey songs - hmmm, maybe I'll email him and ask!
three years later I still love it. As I remember he had a few minutes between acts while the next act set up, and here (as usual) he overstayed his welcome from the artists' perspective, but hey I'd shut my tape recorder off after he left.
Where has this been all these years? where are the REST of the Michael Cooney segments? Please, stop holding out...there must be hours of brilliant Cooney songs in PFF's archives. I vaguely remember this sequence on the Saturday of the year of the torrential downpour, with a Wells/Guy set later. Cooney was so brilliant, year after year, at the PFF. I don't know why he stopped as MC; Maybe he wasn't invited back after the early 90's--too much the star? Tragic.. post more.
