In the first video, you will learn how to quickly set up and render a burning tree effect. You will set up the Pyro FX flames using shelf tools and then use OpenCL to speed up the simulation. You will also learn how to adjust the fuel source to get a nice look for your simulation. You will then work with the Pyro shader and set up the shot for rendering to disk.

Amazing! Complete and Quick Tutorial!
hiya I just finished the tutorial and it's great but I have a question how would I go to add a burning consumption of the tree while it burns? Thanks for the great tutorial
Great!
for anyone using the latest version of Houdini (I'm using 18.5.633), if your flame renders as grey in the mantra (or renders black) it's because you're resetting the values in the material to default. if you leave fire intensity as 'temperature' and fire temperature field as 'heat' you won't have any problem with the render. What a pain..
thank u sir grt tutorial
thanks for video. About terminology - is flame (fire) effect a motion design or VFX or particle system essence?
This is useful but I wish you would have explained what the various auto-generated nodes were instead of diving straight into configuration
completely new to houdini, for some reason when I start working on the smoke. fire/ object ((a cylindar) because the files wouldnt load ) both the object and the fire disappear. Theres probably a simple solution but I dont know it so any help would be great
you might have switched to wireframe mode? or your display handle (blue handle on nodes) is set on a node somewhere upstream ?
scene set up would have been nice. my render is just a black screen. i tried adding a light and camera but no luck.
i got the render to become visible but now the image is grey. this is using the file i opened that you made.
