They will hit lower frequencies, but their fs is 39hz so you gotta know your parameters! My subs shine in a 1.35sqft (slightly smaller) box! But they are a bit more for spl than sq. Thank you for clearing this up for some do not kno de wey

    Haven't got a car at the moment so installed my x--ion 12 800 in-home. It now gets 200w less then it used to in the car because even now at not even full tilt my neighbours glasses and plates are falling out of the cabinets she told me .. but the 'fs' resonance freq. of the building is exactly 34Hz. sow @ tuning freq. I had to drop the output a little. Even though they always listen good music😉 mine haha. not a bad neighbour, just addicted to that feeling of your woofer kicking like a mule haha✌🏻 keep it up

    If you are new to building systems and enclosures this is the site you need to be at everything he says is 100 percent true if the manufacturer tells you the recommendations of a subwoofer enclosure? You can go 20 to 25 percent smaller or 20 to 25 percent larger? I don't recommend putting a 15 inch subwoofer in a box that is 6 cubic feet this is how subwoofers gets destroyed? 🤔 I have put a 15 in a 2.75 cubic foot enclosure you have to have more power to push it to its mechanical limits?

  • @johnnycorn7225
    @johnnycorn7225 Před 2 lety +1

    It's all about compromises, if you build the box really big you'll get more on the bottom and more reverberation but less up top. Build to get to your sound preference!!

      @@SQ_Silverado That enclosure is beautiful. It'll probably sound very good in the lower frequencies but you will lose some sound quality in the upper range. Not sure if you are concerned about the upper range or not. That is going to be very nice when you are done with your build. JL definitely on the very upper end of price. Do you have anything that will fill in the gap you will lose with the 12 in that size of a box? Maybe 8's tuned to the upper sound quality frequency that you'll lose(sound quality wise-tight upper bass) by having the 12 in such a large box. Please let us know how it sounds once you install.

      @@SQ_Silverado I checked out some of your videos(especially of the 12 performing in your vehicle. Your space is somewhat limited for your subs. Personally I would go with 2 10" W7's in a 3 to 3.4 cf box. Two 12's would be a little too tight with your amps and loc's taking up space in your trunk. Two tens would have more cone area than your one 12 and it would fit in your trunk perfectly.

    You know what your doing man if not yiuvwouldnt be busy. Inmo 4 to 4.5 for a 15 is pretty much or just a lil oversized only a few companies ask for that much airspace for there 15. Dc level 5s like 3 to 3.5. I use 3.8 to 4 cubes on 15s .14 too 16 port inches per cube. Thatcworks good for most especially if your ever gonna switch brands out and not build differant box for each sub. It's a good middle ground.

  • @annihilationindustries1990

    So what if u dont care about numbers u just want a good sounding subwoofer . I want good bandwidth, with lows . For example, i want to build a box 1.5 inch thick plywood. 24x24x40 long. With 8 4 inch aero ports for 15 ish sq inches of port per cube and ports will be 30 inches long. For 30hz tuning.
    The net volume will be around 7.5 cubes . The 18 i have is similar to a dc audio level 4 for power handling. So bigger enclosure with lots of port area and i have 4k rms on tap not that im going to use all of it . Will this help with my bandwidth for a more towards SQ build ???

    I am new to your channel but not car stereo. I would love to hear your input on this . I am a huge fan of SQ but naturally I like to turn it up like anyone else I get SPL from time to time. You always preach that Cone Area is king. And while I do agree with you this lends me to this question. I am running two 10” Infinity 1000s in the trunk my Lexus ES 350. I build my own stuff I have it tuned to 33hz in a ported box. Why ported if I like SQ? Because it’s in the trunk and I need more SPL to get through the trunk. I am giving them 1000 watts and they each except 450 rms. Is sounds incredible!!! But…. It doesn’t sound correct. Remember I am into SQ. I think I need a better DP than the Audio Control L7ci . What is your thoughts? If all specs are met as needed for space and power would three 10” lower powered subs in a sealed box work better than two 10” in an ported box? Three 10” s automatically give you more Cone Area. Can’t be the same quality sub woofer either because of the lower power demands.

    • @johnnycorn7225
      @johnnycorn7225 Před 2 lety +2

      Trunk cars are notorious for muffling the bass.
      For SPL probably best off going with a band passported in through the rear deck and sealed off, or a ported setup big as you can fit in the trunk facing backwards with the seats down.
      For SQ, a forward firing trunk wall would likely be best.
      I've even seen people put 4 8s in the top rear deck and seal that off with them facing the glass, that sounded good as well.
