It's 2019 and iPhones still lack expandable storage, fingerprint scanner, headphone jacks, and the ability for people to customize their phones to their liking. And you cant say that people don't wanna customize their phones cause people jailbreak they phones all the time

Very true. I feel bad about Sony though. I had the Z1 and Z2 and used to live them but they have been releasing lacking phones ever since, and at a price that would make you consider other brands cause they offer more stuff for the same or even in most cases less money than what you'd pay for an Xperia phone. I'm still secretly hoping the XZ3 is a cool phone so I can even consider buying it, specially since this year I want to change phones (still on a OP3 and it's running very solid)
It's just so sad what happened to Sony. They had the big 6,4" display already in 2012. And the best design back then.
I'm working as a LG mobile salesman and month by month I see, that LG wants to do something really special with their company.
On the trainings they are always saying, just keep up and stay with us guys, because soon we'll get awesome marketing and innovations that's gonna blow people mind.
I hope thats true, because LG has always been a huge company and manufacturer, especially on the big machines like wasing machines etc. and televisions. It would be great if their smartphones are that successful too.
People around the world deserves another awesome Korean smartphone company.

I honestly don't care for a headphone jack nowadays. It would be nice and convenient, sure. But with many people owning a wireless/bluetooth headphone now, it's not really something that is important imo. So long as the phone has a strong battery to power the bluetooth function, a jack is really not something I care for (not a fan of having a wire dangling in front of me if I don't want to tuck it under a shirt).

Don't know why people hate on LG so much. I have S7 edge, S8 and S9 and an LG V30. And I sold all my Samsungs and kept the V30.
I had the LG G4 and the piece of shit stopped connecting to wifi after a few months. I vowed to never buy LG again. It seems they have very poor QC and a bad software update reputation.

the phone market is no longer a potential for these companies and they are not expecting a profit. phones are used to introduce these new "gimmicks" to their audience. and to gather data from feedbacks. these are used in their bigger projects and in collab products with other companies like tesla and samsung that hold a name people care about.

The gesture feature is not gimmicky it's ground breaking and the apps have to undergo software development for full implementation and use. This is the equivalent of saying 4K screen resolution was gimmicky 3 years ago because there was little 4K content for it to display which limited its usefulness. Great video otherwise but that point has to be made, if consumers prematurely label it a gimmick, the software companies won't invest in development. We can't penalize tech companies for being forerunners.
Normally I would agree, but voice assistants are easier to use and accomplish the same use case except they do it better. Why would I use any of these gestures over a voice command?

This is my next (switching from note 8) because I'm sick of clogged muted earpieces (SOLD) and I love that LG is trying a bone conduction speaker. Was really holding out for the note 10 or the fold, but every few years LG does something epic like this.

I landed on LG flagship phones the same way most people do. I had too many bad experiences with Samsung. I have never looked back. Their phones are well built, feature rich, user friendly, aesthetically pleasing, easy to repair, and generally cost less. What's not to like? And every friend with an Iphone or Samsung goes nuts over the wide angle camera.

G6 is a good one. Upgrading to the g7 next week. I was going for the g8 but it really is like a G7 Plus, only differences is a bump in the main specs. Phones are pretty much twins including the display, besides the g7 being Lcd, but 8 dont like Oled anyway. Hopefully the G9 is full screen next year.

I just recently got this phone and I love it. For the sound, I went to settings and turned the sound from wide to side to side and turned on the DTS:X 3D Surround. I also used a volume booster app, and the sound quality of this phone is amazing. I think it was made for the DTS:X 3D surround to be on for great sound quality.

Also reminds me of that vaporwareish/no-one-uses hardware that HP bought out, Leap Motion. I do think once the tech is absolutely perfected, which would be the day I put on regular Oakleys and I'm in 2nd Life, and I get Fast Charge from the Sun; this will be gimmicky. Kinect was ahead of its time. So is this. By the time this is perfected, the phones will be crystalline in glass, with no batteries. Like in "The Expanse". Until then, Cool.

@@Elias_g1 Samsung does some pretty noteable things to their phones every year. Sometimes its just improving last years phone but it still great. LG falls behind in the smartphone market
LG has gotta be the most underrated/unfairly criticized phone company out there. They consistently come out with awesome innovations that go on to create the status quo for phones (multiple cameras, second/bezeless screens) and nobody bats an eye. Same goes for all the small stuff they put in their phones that show they truly care and are thinking about their customers on a personal level (headphone jack, quad dac, hifi bluetooth support), all get brushed under the rug just like in this video. It's a shame they don't get the recognition they deserve.
The price decrease for this device is insane, I just picked one up for 320⏠at my local electronics store.

I've used LG since the G3 and I'm not changing anytime soon. They understand that people need certain things like a headphone jack and IP68. I was bummed when they got rid of the IR blaster to control TV's, radios, etc but times have changed and there are apps for every device now since everything needs WiFi. LG phones just work period. They have refined their UI over the years to accommodate task oriented people. I use an average of 7 apps simultaneously from 7:30-3:30 and they work flawlessly and seamlessly without issue.
Bro imagine a smart speaker with that volume thing, like you'd be across the room and hold up your hand and increase the volume đ€Ż
Samsung smart TVs (and Iâm sure other brands as well) have had that for years now.

This smartphone looks great. the flat back is a nice touch and those wallpapers are gorgeous.
I'm using LG g4 and i think this is the best phone i ever had.. And i always got this little obsession with LG phones coz for me they have great camera, great sound, great price, and unique (no one would thinking about unlock a phone using some of knocking combination, or when others put unlock button on the side of phone, they put it on the back). In my opinion, LG just lack of 2 things.. 1. Customer service/ service center, it's easier to find SC for lg Home Appliances than for lg phone.. 2. No accessories, looking for LG phone accessories would like try to find a water in desert..

But one's weakess is the other's strength
Not really, most of their phones have huge problems and simply aren't worth considering
Samsung and LG are closer competitors as a whole than you'd think, especially in South Korea. They really cover many more tech devices than just phones.
Feels like the only reason LG still puts out phones is because it is indirectly marketing the rest of their tech, their brand awareness as a whole. You'd be more likely to consider LG for your TV, your refrigerator, your washer and dryer, etc. just because you're aware they put out good quality phones (even if they're not good enough to directly best Samsung's phones any more.)
That's also why they fail so hard at marketing their phones - they just want the phone to be marketing in itself for other areas of the company, where they feel they can get a win over Samsung.

LG cannot make good phones
On reflection, it is the best security phone yet:
1-3D facial recognition.
2- Fingerprint reader (normal >> on screen, both in speed and security).
3- Hand recognition. Weird but hey it's an interesting extra.
