“Everyone in the league has talent” love that because it seems so obvious but somehow most people forget
True, it's cause of these idiot Media/Analyst Pundits that talk down about players and call them scrubs, they're hugely responsible.
yeah they put pressure on different talent and compare them to other stars and if they dont live up, they say theyre garbage. Some of the talent are amazing, just they are not put in scenarios or right teams to succeed.
Buddy of mine talked about meeting Bird man (Andersen for the heat and denver) And talking about things he felt he never got good at.. Birdman mentions shooting like bigs today. And then follows that up by draining eight threes in a row. This is a guy who's known to fans as a bad shooter. The level difference is insane.
Very true, but they’re just JAGs LOL love charles.
Unless your kwame brown , Anthony Bennett 😂😂😂

@trha2222 Well Popovich is from the army, so he had his reasons for sure.
@@RyuumaBradArieq exactly Pop was in the army or air force I believe. But like he said political matters wont matter to him of his opinion. He didn't kneel because he's heartless. He stated that do your political thing on ur time
Pop is such a hypocrit he always talks about others behavior but he acts like a child.
I bet the Knicks can destroy that 22 years record just the other way around.
They got a long way to go on that one since they made it back in 2013 (fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, lol). The Kings have a good chance, though.

22 years of boring playoffs appearances that lead to many chips
22 straight playoffs but still one of the most boring teams lol

The reporter asking him the first question clearly was scared to ask him that question.
Nah he was annoyed cause pop knew what he was talking about but was downplaying him and the question he took offense for some reason
G2KPOAT naw, not buying your statement.
EFunkRock yea even reading it back seems like something espn would say for views
Yeah just like he's afraid of telling to the Allies that his country would accept their unconditional surrender & World War II is finally over. 🤣
G2KPOAT agree. It summarizes why I haven’t watched ESPN since 2010.

Loser mentality spurs missed the playoffs failed mission
@@jayblaze8110 They still accomplished a lot in those 22 years
Jay Blaze loser mentality... 22 years in a row making the playoffs okay
Most coaches wouldn’t even come close to playoff contention with that roster
@Michael Rodriguez All stars that play mid range game, the game is evolving that 2 stars are lagging behind, Lamarcus is old he needs to go, demar improved in the bubble, spurs might build around him
@Michael Rodriguez say that to wizards. give them coach Pop . then well see. samething to, Wolves.
I watched a video says spurs offense is still very good it is the defense that got a big drop compare to last year.
RPG Lamar avared 20 ppg he’s a great player
@@clashmasterx3253 He is a great player but with way games playing now he is already outdated, And that contract is too bloated for that talent, again he only excels in mid range game they need a real stretch four.
After 22 straight years of making the playoffs, I'm pretty sure that Pop is just glad he can be back with his family and get an early vacation tbh
Edit: And when I say "early vacation" I mean that there is an off season after the playoffs are done so Pop is gonna be chilling for the first time in 22 years. And why do y'all keep forgetting Pop got two kids, that's still a family even if his wife died, God rest her soul.
Pop been working overtime for 22 years
but it's August... this was a bad year to get an early vacation lol
He can focus on getting help for his TDS now.
bro his wife died 2 years ago. I dont think hes got a family tbh
@@camden6184 He had two kids with his wife tho
Spurs NBA Franchise is 44 years old and they just missed the playoffs 5 times. Think about that crazy franchise! There's no other sports team that could come close to that success.
That’s top 8 every year I’m pretty sure there are football (soccer) teams like Real Madrid that have done that and won the trophy, cups, etc a lot more times
Adrian Tarrant none in the NBA though
@@adrianjtarrant What I meant was the consistency, 39 out of 44 times they're in the playoffs. That's crazy! Other leagues might have it, but think about the number of teams the NBA have and the lottery and other factors you could think of.
@@12chuck18 I agree - just put that in cos you said there is no other sports team. But yeah - you should watch the NBA Storyteller channel videos on Pop and Kawhi

Speaking of things staying the same: it’s a well-known fact that the San Antonio Spurs have made the playoffs for 22 seasons in a row. But what’s less well known is that if the Spurs don’t make the playoffs this year it will only be the 6th time in their franchise history they have failed to do so.
That’s right. The Spurs have completed 52 seasons and have only missed the playoffs 5 times. Since their start in the ABA as the Dallas Chaparrals in 1967 they have only missed the playoffs 5 times. And they have never in their history missed the playoffs 2 years in a row. It seems that the Spurs have always had the ball bounce their way. For them something happens and it always turns out good.
Unfortunately this happened. This year they lost in play-in...
But I know that Spurs will arise again to a perennial playoff contender.
I still think its wild that Kawhi left San Antonio. I know towards the end it was some drama with the injury but Kawhi's personality fit San Antonio like a glove imo
Uncle Dennis was calling the shots for Kawhi.
His uncle ruined everything, i mean I understand that he is family and like a father figure to him but at some point you just have to grow a pair and let people know that one is responsible for himself and wants to make his own decisions smh
That Soul Box📦
@@mohsinkamal2468 yeah in money perspective they would lose more money if they stayed in a small market team. The only thing I hated they made all that drama about the injury even though only 1-8 specialist agreed with their claim. Which means obvious paid the specialist to agree with their claims
If Kawhi stayed a Spur he would never be recognized as an all time great. They gave all the credit to Pop and the system and most people I talk to say they don't watch the Spurs because they are boring for some reason.
He's right tho. "Did you talk about the streak when it ended?" instead of talking about the streak while it was ongoing. Journalism at its finest.
seriously. all of us though, never appreciate these kind of teams while they’re around

Dang, that means at the 20th anniversary of the Spurs Playoff streak, 25% of that entire span the Spurs managed to get a championship. If that doesn't validate that Coach Pop is the greatest coach of all time, I don't know what does.
Pop is a gem and I'm glad we still have him impacting the league in a great way.
We need to give him his flowers while he is still here with us.

"did you talk about the streak at all before it ended" well actually yes, it gets brought up every year
Much Respect to the Spurs and Coach Pop
🤣🤣🤣 Popp always cracks me up
They can’t build through Demar or Aldridge.. trade both of them & rebuild through the draft.. but overall Spurs are a world class organization..
Demar Derozan and Lamarcus Aldridge are free agents this offseason so they can leave this offseason
If i am the spurs, let aldridge go, Build the team with demar, he improved alot in the bubble, trade bryn forbes while he has value.
Keldon,Dejounte,White,Lonnie,Eubanks are the spurs future. players that has bloated contracts trade them, and play around free agency, Specially Ingram,Dinwiddie,Christian wood, whiteside,Anthony davis,Giannis are free agents
RPG AD is most likely staying in LA & I don’t think Giannis would go to the west but I like your POV though
I would add that in addition to coaching the team and players, Pop was and is a great mentor to his assistant coaches. SAS under Pop have been a "Toyota production line" of first-class head coaches. Pop shaped the NBA to what it is right now by coaching, teaching, and transforming the game over the last 30 years.
22 years is still amazing
Pop is a great guy too...met him a couple of times. Nothing like his media persona...
The last time the Spurs didn’t make the playoffs I wasn’t even born yet.
It was a great run by the Spurs going to the playoffs 22 consecutive years including five titles. Only the fifth time in their NBA tenure, the Spurs missed the playoffs. Incredible.
As a Spurs die hard, im very proud of what we’ve accomplished in the last 20 years. Best run in any sport, no one will top that

@@donking6427 your point is. He's talking about consecutive playoff appearances. Patriots never went to the playoffs 20+years in a row
Can we just admit that Tim Duncan is a top 5 player of all time? Does Lebron really have a case over him? I know it sounds crazy but Pop is obviously overrated. The Spurs had the highest winning % of any professional team since Duncan started until he retired. One team, 5 championships, never missed the playoffs, MVPs…
All good things must come to an end

Timmy was responsible for a large part of Pops success as being known as an all time great coach. People forget there were talks about Pop being fired for Doc rivers early in his career. Tim Duncan was EXTREMELY coachable and led by example.
Tim Duncan with the Admiral's tutelage
@@robocock475Duncan didn’t need tutoring. Robinson walked into Pops office the second day of training camp and told him it’s Tim’s team now 😂 he busted Robinson so bad the first day of practice the team blacked out the windows so fans couldn’t see

Does Pop really only think about whatever is going on at the moment? Crazy ability man
Classic Pop! One of the greatest coaches in sports EVER!
Long live the Spurs!
To make the playoffs over 2 decades is amazing. Most of these teams won't make the playoffs once in 22 years, that should be appreciated .and Pop so cool about it,its not the end of the world for him.success should be recognized while its happening, not when its over.
22 years 5 titles you can’t beat that
AngelTheFiend Can’t really compare those situations. Chicago and LA are both huge markets that regularly get free agent interest. To do what the Spurs did in a small market for that amount of time is crazy.
Spurs is a perfect example of how a small market NBA team should be.
@AngelTheFiend Yeah but those players were in large sports markets.

As a Spurs fan. It's done, Pop should hand the reigns to Timmy. Trade Demar and LA. Keep the young guys and rebuild.

Funny how Aldridge in Portland and Demar on Toronto might put them over the top
DeMar DeRozan back to Toronto
Mossed Gaming That would be dope. But could the Spurs really flip DeMar or Aldridge for a top 5 pick?? As a spurs fan I wouldn’t mind to see that happen tbh
playoffs or not, im proud to be a spurs fan
I was born the year this streak started. Freaking wild. Pop is the GOAT coach
This will be the first time since 1997 that Spurs have a lottery pick. For all these years, they have found gems after gems in late round draft. Imagine what Pop can do to their upcoming #11 pick.
What a guy Pop is
THIS ISN'T THE TYPE OF RECORD THAT'S GONNA BE BROKEN I DOUBT IT EVER WILL HONESTLY
Gregg asking the real questions tho "did you ask that before the streak ended?"
Every good thing can come to an end physically. But the commrodery and sheer love for the game and relationships attained is forever.spurs will be back
I can't wait to see who they Draft....
Coach Pops is Elder Kai. Unlocks hidden potential
It’s Time to rebuild give the organization to the young guys and unload on the old guys and your making the playoffs next year not in that western conference especially with golden state coming back and the emergence of Memphis and with the Portland trailblazers not going anywhere no time soon even with demar derozen And Aldridge that’s not gonna be enough 💯💯
With the smallball lineup and raining threes it wont be a surprise if spurs will missed the playoff again next year.. I mean coach pop is a good coach with vintage basketball. But now is the future and coach pop becomes obsolete unless he innovates 😊
Still a die hard Spurs fan we will get better
1:08 good question though
That is the record that will never be broken by any team. You can only get that type of streaks if you play it in 2K.
Honestly, Pop has so much respect from the media. He literally has dad status with them, they sound so scared whenever they ask him any question LOL.
Not just his players. Think of how many good head coaches in the league right were once coach Pop’s assistants. And how many of them won coach of the year
Born in Late 1997, they have been on the playoffs longer than I have been alive.
