I love and miss Reggie.
Same also Omg
Same he was awesome
Him and Iwata were what made Nintendo feel so different from other game companies. They understood the gaming industry and what people like and enjoy, and made Nintendo seem like a company whose main objective is to make good games. Nowadays Nintendo feels so much more corporate and robotic, like all the other AAA developers.
@@mcgoldenblade4765 yeah
You guys realize how since Doug bouser has been president of Nintendo Nintendo has been more scummy
That "both of you" joke is pure genius. Reggie was too good.
Ay, you're the guy who makes the excellent BFDI Minecraft animations!
Very ahead of his time.

No need. Reggie was there himself, surely he can remember that time when he ascended on stage live.
Ahhh yes the Nintendo Wii.
That one console every school, old person home, and every family member had and still has for some reason.
For real tho, literally everyone had this. After that I didn't hear as many people getting wii Us or switches. It's so weird lol
@@loadingusername3348
Yeah the WiiU failed and Nintendo knows it.
That's why all its games are coming to the switch, speaking of the switch might sell just as well if not better than the Wii by the end of its life who knows.
@@Sgt-Wolf the switch is also replacing the 3DS so it has to cover for that system too.

Except that the Wii U, Switch, and PS5 all have motion controls, which is over half of all the major consoles released since then. That’s not even including the 3DS gyroscopic controls either.

I always thought of lego star wars as more of a gamecube thing.
@@henryfleischer404 yeah, the one for the Wii was 2 GameCube games in one, but many consider it a Wii game, probably because the Wii was so much more popular
Yeah, There Is Complete Saga, But What About Wasting Money And Getting The Two Ps2 Versions And Not Knowing There Was A Wii Port, Like I Did.
The best thing about the Wii is that it’s so easily available even to this day. It’s a great option for those who can’t find a GameCube but want to experience those games. Or those of you who like me, sold your GameCube that you had since childhood as a teen to buy other game consoles and passed up every single GameCube you found at a thrift store or used game store because you didn’t know better.
A lot of games that are hard to get on GameCube and Ps2 are readily available for cheap on Wii as well. DBZ BT3 for Ps2 goes for around $200 last I checked but I can find the Wii version for $10, Twilight Princess for GameCube cost me $80 a couple years ago but the Wii version was $15
Why didn’t you talk about the virtual console??
Being able to play and own NES, SNES, & N64 games and is backwards compatible with Gamecube games were the best things about having a Wii
RIGHT???
Until it wasn't
You can hembrow and emulate it to do so though...
The wii was awesome, but the amount of shovelware wasn’t
I Never like how all the chargers were 3rd party. Ebay
It had the same problem as the PlayStation 2. It was too popular and everyone wanted to put everything on it even if it was just a shitty downgrade of existing games
That's just what happens to top-selling consoles sold at a lower price than its competitors. The Wii actually isn't the worse example of this. PS2 or 2600 probably are.
@@calebdonaldson8770 Funnily Enough, Every Non-Nintendo Wii Game Prior to 2009 is availible on PS2!

The Wii actually had some things in common with the Atari 2600:

Anyone born between 1996 and 2006 has a really weird relationship with other generations lol
My dad new someone who got their hands on a couple of Wii’s when it came out and we still play bowling to this day
Honestly, I think the glue holding together the wii, and the wii era of Nintendo (Wii, WiiU, 3dS, and maybe DS depending who you ask) was the sheer charm oozing out of everything. Every single menu option popping with a satisfying sound effect, every little theme and embelishment no matter how deep into the games and system you went, just mii's in general, and those little gimmicks that, while not as revolutionary as nintendo hoped, packed a serious punch in the hands of the right developer and game.
the nostalgia this video is giving me is giving me these butterflies in my stomach, i cant explain it, this video is beautiful, very cool RelaxAlax
"The NES changed the game. GameBoy changed the game. Donkey Kong Country"
I'd say it was around this point in history when the console industry started down the road that we're on today: Sony and Microsoft at each other's throats, and Nintendo just off to the side doing whatever it wants.
Bruhh
through our childhood we went from non back illuminated, AA battery powered handhelds with no color or minimal color, to color, resistive touch screens with styluses, rechargeable batteries, cartridges to disks to larger disks to cartridges again, motion control, physical buttons, capacitive screens, that stretch from like the gameboy to the smartphone, and like, immediately it was all flat glass screens and back to mouse and keyboard for everyone of the following generations. the wouldn’t ever understand the struggle, and with arcades dying almost everywhere i feel like gaming truly lost something back then when people cared to try new stuff…
Ayyyyy! New Relaxalax vid!
Ah yes the famous console known by many aliases, such as,

Me seeing the title. Please dont ruin this part of my childhood. *continues ro watch video*.
This is where lives started people.
I love how the background around the will looks like the void from SB-129
I think the longterm effects of what the Wii started aren't really going to be felt by the masses until another 10 years. Cause something that wasn't mentioned in this video is that modern day VR basically utilizes what are more advanced versions of Wii motion controls, and they work INCREDIBLY well. It's hard to imagine a future where VR can really work without it.
Granted, VR is currently in a stage where people who don't have it are often skeptical of it (and there are still some challenges and limitations it has to overcome), but there's definitely a lot of potential and I don't think we'd be where we are now without the Wii.

This video was pure nostalgia pumped into my veins I loved it thank you.
I guess you could say *Wii* all liked this console.

No, not wiilly... S###
Actually, motion controls in Splatoon are way better than the stick controls. The only reason the Wii's motion controls had a bad reputation was because it was a new technology, and because they were used in too many games. When used in the right games, motion controls can actually be revolutionary, and Splatoon is the best example.
man, that intro tho! good job alax!
I used to love this channel the I forgot and now I have found it again. I am loving it.
Hope you and your cat is doing well. And happy to see cat is still a big part of the channel.
I'm really disappointed about the fact that we hadn't had an edit of good ol' Reggie spanking some poor soul with his wii remote...tz tz tz such a missed opportunity.
I liked motion controls for the novelty of them and the fact that it helped a friend of mine lose a lot of weight. Playing wii sports was such a blast when the wii first released. Playing some of the games now just feels wrong, mostly because the wiimote just didn't work for most of the library.
This way more entertaining than it needs to be. Thanks.
Fucking goddammit I was thinking about the "two of them" video earlier today now you've ingrained it in my mind once more
I loved the editing on this one. The reggie tangent made me laugh pretty hard
I remember getting my Wii. Some of my friends had it and I couldn't wait till I got one. The wii was my first video game console so I really love it, even though I never played most of the really big games on it when they came out.
The Wii was my FIRST console as I was born in 2006. I was a diehard nintendo fan until the WiiU. After that, I just played PS4. Although switch has returned my respect for the company.
