    Great truck. I have had a 2008 with the 6.4L for several years and is solid as a rock. This year does not require DEF and has an exhaust filter that cleans itself periodically while driving. Definitely a great project.

      The reason everyone went to a def system is because that filter you speak of clogs up and puts you on the side of the road. The exhaust fluid helps burn the soot and makes it more reliable. My work truck has the fluid and really doesn’t bother me at all. Not sure how many miles you got on your truck. Some last longer then others but I pull a 30 foot Arctic Fox fifth wheel and my 2008 duramax that also had the filter clogged up and put me on the side of the road at 120k miles I deleted it and have 175k now no issues plus I get 22-23 mpg on the hwy. it will happen to you too specially pulling weight. My advice to you would be don’t let it idle with heat or ac on blast and don’t shut it off when it’s trying to regen. Eventually you will have to delete it.

      @calvinh.8882 Před 5 lety

      @@JYDOG, Seeing it was deleted and it has that 5-inch exhaust, I'd bet it doesn't have the exhaust filter on it anymore. And I'm not sure if you got it running yet, but if not it may be because it has to be re-tuned with an aftermarket tune seeing it has had factory parts removed from it.

    I had a 6.4 and had no issues after DPF delete. I think 275k miles when i sold it, burned no oil and ran great. Although fuel doesn't seem to be your problem I would do fuel filters because most people don't maintain that on these trucks and that's important to take care of that expensive fuel system. Awesome truck really, just the DPF is a killer. With straight pipe and mild tune I got anywhere from 20-25mpg depending on the drive. With DPF and stock intake it was about 17. Wish I hadn't sold it, really can be a great truck if someone hasn't beat it up.

    Bed Fire FYI: The 2008-2011 F250 some had issues with the OEM brake calipers seizing and overheating. I had one that I returned to the dealership 2 times due to overheating wheels - They accused me of riding the brakes. I took the mechanic had him touch the left rear rim which burned his hand then took him to the right rear and it was cool to the touch, then asked him to explain how this could be possible since if I was riding my brakes BOTH should be hot. In the end, I replaced ALL the oem calipers with aftermarket and all issues went away. It looks like he was not so lucky.

    Seems like the previous owner spent too much on accessories & not enough on payments. Saw a lot of pickups repossessed here in the Texas oilfield when the oil price dropped.
    The engine compartment is so packed full of stuff the mechanics have to remove the cab to work on it. When I first heard that I thought it was BS, until I saw it at my local Ford dealership.
    Diesels need clean fuel & lots of pressure. Have to be able to breathe, too. We have more problems with the exhaust system on our Peterbilts with Cummins engines than all other problems combined. Good luck to you sir.

      Yeah, i hate to see people loose there stuff because of a bad economy. If I cant get this truck running without having to replace the engine I may just part it out or resell it. Hey JYDOG, I'm a diesel tech, worked on plenty of fords and many others. The 6.4 what you have isn't a really good reliable motor. IDK if you read and forums or not but many people stated those motors are like grenade motors, or other word, throw away motors. You probably don't want to hear that but the upside is that, let say you got a new motor put in, and then bulletproof it. Then the motor would be a fine to use. what kills these motors and many new motors out on the market is the the aftertreatment system on them. it suffocates the motor so it can't exhaust like it supposed to and not to mention creates back pressure in the exhaust system, which overtime cause it to grenade and fail. When bullet proof, the motor can finally work properly and make it work like it suppose too. When I do the bullet proof, when they come back in the shop, they only come for service and thats it. Something to think about.

    • @JYDOG
      @JYDOG  Před 5 lety

    I have seen much worse, so if the oil, filter and Plug-magnet looked good it's an positive sign I would change all the filters and clean the Batt. Ground attachments, when you have the Batteries fully charged, try "jumpstart" it by going in to the 6mm cable-wire you find between the Passenger side Battery and the Frontfender.( you can find how to domthat trick here on CZcams).. You just give it a hot+ directly from the Battery and it should start right away, if that dont work...yes you probably have a starter problem.
    I have a 2008 250 Superduty Diesel myself and I have only had minor problems with the Notorious Anti-Theft System activating itself.

    Lots of "experts" will tell you that the diesels will fail early...This only appears to be true if they are modified for more power or "bulletproofing" . I bought an F-250 diesel with the 6.0 and drove it over 200k, mostly towing a 35' fifth wheeler, and the rest commuting. NEVER had an out of warranty repair, and only a couple of them. (Recall for something in the EGR and later a turbo replacement at about 97k) To make yours more attractive to a buyer, I would suggest lowering it to stock height, as mods like that convey a "run hard, put away wet" connotation. Cranking speed does not have to be great to produce the needed heat...that is what the glow plugs are for, but there's a high pressure pump in there, which I'm not too sure about,but it will prevent starting for some reason. Beyontd that, I can't offer much, except a Ford dealer can reset everything,including the PATS system, and it will work with your new keys then. Personally, I have a 2016 F-250 which is wonderful, and as yet has just over 10k on it. I quit rebuilding salvaged cars in the early 80s. too old for that much fun now!

    International said it’s a 100000 mile motor. Any international truck that has that motor when it comes in they rip the thing out and put in a new one. If u want to pay that much or the salesman will sell u a brand new 6.7 that you’ll be paying for till you retire.

      Well theirs two possibilities with that truck. Either it wasn't fully deleted or some man child owned it & abused it. Their not race cars. Its meant to pull things which is the intended use of truck. I have a fully deleted 6.4 with a big tune. I leave it in stock hp because I don't want to grenade the engine. I have people try to line up at red light trying to race me all the time. I never turn truck up though it's self gratifying though knowing if I did she will blow the doors off them. Like they say take care of truck it will take care of you. The failure of these trucks was the emissions system. Once you remove that stuff your good to go.

      Something else that is vital is a meticulous maintenance program with the 6.4. Heck most people can barely remember to get to the filling station much less change the oil. A big mistake people make with the 6.4 is that they fill up with bio diesel which is catastrophic for fuel system it will foul up entire system. I've literally pulled up to pump prepaid walked out realized it was bio diesel walked back in store & got my money back. People just don't research enough to understand the do's and dont's of a 6.4!
