This video is a TAS speed run of a ROM hack made by yours truly. It is the first ever ROM hack to be for Super Mario All-Stars and I really wanted to show it off. The credits at the end of the video will explain everything (with nice music).

what program did you use to make your own level? I can't find any that work for mario all stars.. I want to make my own levels for mario 3!!!
You can use Super Mario Bros X, it’s not this where you hack, but a game with Level Editor that has Mario All Stars materials.

therefor he has slowdowns, re-recordings trough save-states and so on
just wondering, do you know of anyway to change the sprites in smas ( in all four games) ( and/or the legend of zelda ( NES ))
@kevin190499 it uses the same level format as the NES version, although objects and sprites in a certain row (E if I remember right) are 3 bytes long instead of 2 as one of the byte's hi and lo nibbles are spread out for some reason.
Higan and BizHawk are better choices, but if the custom music used crashes those emulators, use SNES9x 1.51 or ZSNES 1.51. Preferably SNES9x 1.51.
I've noticed that your smb3 hack is just blatantly edited, which disappoints me a little, but at least you tried, right? And boy, is your smb hack hard. I'd sure love to try it lol!
First of all, did you test this savestatelessly? Second, hope you finish MushROMs! I'd like to experiment a little with it and show it off the smwc... if I ever get unbanned :(
This hack looks Kaizo. So, how did you make this?
The smb3 discombobulator actually works on the .SMC rom.
You make sure you test after every edit, and back up your rim a lot.
I think the SMB1 Allstars Hack is called Kaizo Mario Bros.
It's not called anything. I created the levels myself.

Holy hell, dude! This makes The Lost Levels look like Yoshi's Story! How the fuck did you make/play this? A few of these jumps (@6m03s) shouldn't even be possible!

Awesome work! What program did you use to hack the rom?
Just a binary hex editor. I did this back when I was still mining data from the game. I'm still working on a tool editor, but I'm a 28 year old adult with a full time programming job. It's not easy to always come home and work on it. If you have any interest in the project or in programming, you can track the (very slow) progress at github.com/bonimy/MushROMs

I'm only just learning SPC programming. But now that this game has been fully disassembled, it's becoming a possibility.

There is a program called Lunar Magic that you can use to edit levels in Super Mario World. The hardest part I would say is finding a working Super Mario World Rom. Good luck to ya!

Hmm.
The SMB1 stages had some creative difficulty to them. However, the SMB3 ones... looked a lot more lazy, just keeping in old elements of the level and moving them slightly, or adding various other things. Heck, 1-3 had what... a few coins and two enemies added? And 1-Mini wasn't really changed much either. I hope more work was done on these; after seeing SMB1's levels, I was really hoping for some creative stuff with suits and the new elements in SMB3!

Ah yes, SMB3C, straight out of the m3i days of yore, when all you had to do to make a great rom hack was decent level design! I miss those days. They died the day Mario Adventure was released, and buried the day Lunar Magic was released. Or something like that. Well, 5/5!

Hey, i found this vid really interesting, i would just like to post a comment saying that.. umm it looks really hard, lol... i've been playing mario games for a long time, and if i knew how to create my own levels like that, or hack games or whatever, trust me, i would be doing it 24/7, but seeing that i don't, i have to draw them out on graph paper like usual, plus i can't play them after i'm done creating them so it kind of sucks... and i know you are all too busy to help me out, but, nice vid

The only way is to have a separate ROM for Super Mario World it is the same thing though

@@JustJory I think he's asking this because the SMAS version of Super Mario World has unique sprites for Luigi instead of a simple Mario recolor.
Most SMW ROM Hacks tend to neglect Luigi as many players almost never play the 2 Player Mode, so playing the 2 Player Mode in ROM Hacks will give you Luigi unchanged if Mario is left untouched, or a glitched version of the Player character if Mario is changed completely and no proper work is done on Player 2.
