It didn't take a prophet to predict that LGD wouldn't qualify since they are just really bad at the moment. The only tournament they qualified for this year was Riyadh in what turned out to be a joke of a qualifier.

It'd definitely be more interesting if the two biggest tournaments were spaced further apart. It seems way more likely that we'll see the same teams, same meta, and similar results since they're happening so close together and variety just tends to be more interesting in general
EG still have a valorant team (they got into partnership program which is a guaranteed check from Riot that they use to cover the costs of the team). They also won the TI equivalent last year and then immediately asked the players to take paycuts and 4 of them left LMFAO
QUESTION FOR SVG & CAP:
During the SVG answer segment, he mentions the "cultural interaction" between players. Since the casting cabal is so multicultural, are there any funny stories where cultural differences pop up?
These differences have come up a lot especially with food and music tastes.

Question for SVG: You've talked about how older players have no incentive to stop playing, because the chance for money is always there. Do you think, like Faith_Bian did in China, that we'll see more un-retirements from western tier 2 players(especially talent) trying to qualify for tournaments, now that the ecosystem seems to be bringing back a higher density of tournaments to play? People like Qojqva, Synderen, NoTail and even you, Avery?

SVG calling Somnus knocking down LGD is insane. INSANE.
Why is it insane? The LGD of 2024 are not even close to the same quality team as the 2018/2019 version, the 2021/22 version, or even the 2023 version. If they had some results this year they could point to, that would be one thing, but they don't have anything.
Anyway, I'll be a lot more impressed if they take out IG tomorrow.
It's not a shot on the team's performance. It's a call on how accurate SVG's prediction. LGD hasnt been the best CN team in a while.

QUESTION FOR SVG & CAP:
what do you think about resetting immortal mmr? i think there is an inflation in immortal and not so many new faces in pro dota due to that. i would send every non digit/5 digits immortal back to 5.6k, 4 digits immortal to 6k, 3 digits immortal back to 7k this would give us new pubstars every year and this reset should happen after TI. also the leaderboard should be global and not by region.

I have a bunch of friends with fond memories of playing dota all stars back from the internet cafe era. Some I still queue up party with even to this day (with the addition of my wife and some of their girlfriends), while some grew apart directly due to dota-related reasons. Hi SVG and CAP, short background before my question on Esports Education.
I lived both in Korea and the Philippines, both countries are embracing Esports as a career and have an actual Educational Course for it (BS Esports). For me, I know for a fact that most players on my countries (DOTA and League) are only on Highschool level or dropouts.
My question is does having a degree of BS Esports worth the delay for a Young Talented Player?
I think having education improves the individual's comprehension, flexibility, and retire-ability; but being on the pro-scene at a young age will improve your instinct and will utilize your physical ability while being young.
Asking these because most retired Esports players in Korea and the Philippines, usually does not have a continuation on their career ladder (They get lucky if they get to coach). In traditional sports like basketball and volleyball, retired players on my countries usually leans on either coaching or on their career on their college course; as they were drafted after graduating.
I hope that these courses can keep them on the Esports field after they retired as a Player.

I've been watching dota for a long time now...I realized teams had different strategies earlier...but they are almost the same now-a-days....how do you change that. It's so boring.
If you know in dota 1, heros animations changed when they bought aghs, ac or vlads. Why doesn't valve do that, it was so cool.

wouldnt it feel a bit of a let down, or even a little bit of scam-ish or like a blooper (cant find the proper wording to say it) if a team that didnt qualify for TI wins Riyadh? Meaning that qualifying for Riyadh and winning it, specially so close to TI, should mean that you are a top tier team and therefore you should be able to get a spot at the most competitive event of the year. Feels like they should have a mechanism that takes that into consideration. What if the top dogs crumble at Riyadh and the top 2-3 teams are not teams that qualified for TI. Wouldnt that deminsh TI's importance or integrity in someway? I m just asking i m not sure if this is the case, cant wrap my head around it. i just feel like there should be a way for last minute invites or even fan favorite invite (i think this was a thing in Ti2 or Ti3?). any way. nice content keep it comming

Why do dota commentators use the word up so much? I hear it constantly. Damaged up, stunned up, I've even heard slowed up. I've never heard anyone except dota commentators talk like this. Is it on purpose? What's going on? I feel like I'm losing my mind.
