    Absolutely love how fair and balanced you are in your stance here, and the level of your understanding about what is going on and what v the strike actually means. Even though I already support the actors, I learned a lot more than I did initially from watching this. Thank you.

      What exactly did u learn from this? That ppl dont understand economics?

  • @addievlogsorgaming5351

    Thanks for breaking this strike down Dave! I had no clue what was going on, only that there was a strike…hopefully this gets resolved and in favor of the regular everyday people/actors!!

  • @sinistercreations1635

    Thank you for shedding some extra light on it here... ive heard people talking... mainly making fun of actors cuz "oh, their jobs are so hard." Type of stance, and I think about what if it was your job? So again thank you

    Thanks, Dave, as always. Since watching you first in 2017, I've always known we can count on you for a fair, balanced and informed perspective on issues like this.

    Hey Dave! It’s me, Tim 😂. Thanks for the update. I do support the strike. Living (and acting/VO periodically) in MN has been an interesting experience. Our state used to be a huge draw but silly taxes really slowed that down the last two decades. As such, a lot of us stick to non-union independent work and avoided worrying about waivers for the few and far between union shoots. This is an important strike that will someday affect all work going forward! Even in my little world!

    Maybe in Daves case this strike is a blessing in disguise. It gives him and his crew more time to develop the story! And hell maybe even raise more money! Again I said in Dave's case people.

    What's really bugging me, is those who don't care because recent Hollywood films haven't been very good.
    So automatically, they say "good, the stories haven't been written well so they don't deserve it anyway".
    That is the dumbest take you possibly have... just because a writer or actor may be a hack or less talented (and maybe shouldn't keep getting work) the whole industry's worth of talent should burn.
    Sometimes I really hate the internet.

    • @Hellstothenaw
      @Hellstothenaw Před rokem

      Yes. They have ruined Hollywood. The US is in trouble because ppl like you do not understand economics. Period. If these ppl ruin movies and force ppl to NOT buy their tickets, then there is no money to share amongst the them (the worst of us). That should be obvious by now. These actors and writers deserve nothing. Just like the rest of us. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. If i were a talented writer/actor, i would just create a new hollywood. One that is actually successful and has the ability to take care of its ppl.

      Plus if Barbenheimer is anything to go by... I mean movies still CAN be good. People are still hungry for Cinema.

    I know someone who is a stand in actor and this is affecting her big time. I hope the studios can come to a reasonable compromise with the unions but I heard they’re playing hardball and are willing to let writers (and maybe actors now as well) lose their homes over these issues

    Why would background actors even agree to have their likeness digitized and able to be used by studios in perpetuity with no additional pay? What’s in it for them? A lot of people do background work as a living. There’s no way they would agree to work for one day and sign over their likeness when that might mean their future work will be nonexistent or severely limited. Maybe the studios don’t want to use regular background performers and instead want to find some random people who just want to be an extra for a day and think it’s cool to have their faces digitized. That seems pretty messed up. I don’t like where this whole CGI/A.I. thing is going. I have no desire to see a movie starring fake versions of actors just because they look like the real deal. I want to see real actors who give genuine performances with real emotions.

    "They are only making 40 to 50 thousand dollars"That still is above the average person makes for a year. If they can't make in the "entertainment" industry, maybe find other skills that will make you money. Like a real job!

    • @kevindustin396
      @kevindustin396 Před rokem

      You're cherry picking a generality that Dave was making. A lot of the actors have to have second jobs as well, and are only making $5k a year as an actor. You're equating the strike, as if all the movie stars are complaining they're not getting enough money lol. That's not what the strike is about. Do your due diligence and research (which you haven't done) because you sound like an ignorant fool.

    This is my thoughts on it. This is how I personally feel. I get it for the AI stuff. That is just lazy to me. If you use their likeness. Pay them. Since I am a package handler I am scared that one day I might get replaced by a robot or a machine. But what I am seeing it is about they just want more money in general. They get paid enough. The ironic of it all the people who is striking for it and the union members says the Hollywood studios are being greedy when the union is the one being greedy.

      With all due respect, I suggest you look further into what the negotiations are all about. You're ill informed on the matter of money. Remember, only 1% of SAG can actually make a living as an actor.

      @@Bobby_Hall Like I said I hope it's for AI and nothing else. I do support them in that part. But try to get higher pay no. For me that is greedy in my opinion. I hopefully they reach a deal where if they decide to scan them and use their likeness they will get paid for everytime they use it. For me I would never scan my life away. But they will get the same pay. I am scared that 1 day I will be replaced by a robot. And we have been seeing that robots are taking over in the last of number of years with self checkouts in stores.
      I mentioned this couple of times I am a package handler for UPS. And the company might go on strike starting on August 1st and it's for higher pay. As right now I get paid $18 per hour. And they are striking for higher pay. Why nowadays people want higher pay, higher pay, high pay. This might be a very hot take. But this is generally how I feel. If people feel differently that is fine. I do respect other people's opinions and thoughts.
      But gor me personally people should do whatever what that makes them happy and what they are good at. To the point they are doing it for the love of the game and not for the money or the paycheck where they say in their minds I could do this for free. My absolute favorite things to do is to workout and exercise. I am a physical labor type of person. I love challenging my body. I love being in my own world and physically challenge my body.
      My dream goal/job is Ninja Warrior. Ninja Warrior will always going to be my first dream job love. But I love being a package handler because it is physically demanding and it's challenging on the body. Which that's the reason I do it. I don't do it for the money. I do it for the love of the game. If I did it for the money I would already quit. Because I don't make that much. $18 per hour 5 days of the week for 4 hours or sometimes 4 and a half hours. Like I said I do it for the love of the game.

      "They get paid enough."
      I'm glad someone who is not in the profession is educated enough about how much one needs to make a living. As Dave said, this isn't about the highest paid actors everyone knows, it's about the struggling and/or character actors who work hard and getting short changed - which is the majority of the union.
