RAM -best truck ever! I can’t wait my new RAM 3500
As an owner of a 4th Gen Longhorn, great video. New truck looks amazing! Not sure there's enough here to warrant a trade in but it's close.
Good review
This is actually going to be my next truck
Thanks for the review
Fish Brain thank you and congrats in advance!
Long beds may be a little rougher empty, but you'll appreciate the longbed when you pull a heavy load. My dad and I hauled a load of hay on a trailer with his F350 short bed; but the trailer was a better fit for a dually, and it was more bumpy than when we hauled a 150HP tractor on our smaller trailer, and certainly more bumpy than an empty Ram 3500 longbed.
It’s not gonna ride worse because of a longer wheelbase. Just the opposite. The harsh ride is gonna be from it being a 1 ton vs 3/4 ton
Did he mention if the previously reviewed truck was a short bed, because the Mega Cab actually has a shorter wheelbase than a standard crew cab long bed.
Give him a break. He's just some idiot trying to pretend he knows things so he can be a famous rich CZcamsr... Lol
Longer wheelbase, nicer ride, truck science 101
@@the_ghee_spot Mega cabs are actually more common in the shorter wheel base, even the DRW mega cabs. I haven't seen any mega cab longbeds when I worked at a Dodge dealer last summer.
JohnDeere/CatFan98 Sorry if my post was confusing. You are correct in stating that the Mega Cabs are only available in the short bed configuration from the factory. I was just curious to know if the review he did prior to this video was a crew cab long bed, because if it was, the wheelbase on that truck would be longer than the Mega Cab, that was just reviewed, by 9 inches.
Noticed the ram air has a different intake vent than last gen. The primary looks like it is vented in via a scoop in the grill, vs a hole next to the passenger headlight. I also noticed some new fender bracing under the hood.
Nice detailing of this truck
12krinson Thank you!
We need a 2020 ram 2500 diseal power wagon with 800+ftlb locking front and rear
I currently own a ‘15 model year 3500. Ram must have changed a few things. - when I bought mine 3500 only came in dually. I also searched for the HIgh output engine. The rear differential cover is gray- and finned- which denotes it as having the aisin transmission and beefier motor.
i like te front grill. this grill fit my 2018 ram 2500
Great overview! Do you know if the 5th gen shares the same suspension components as the out going model? I just ordered a 2019 3500 Limited Mega Cab dually and will probably put a leveling kit on it asap.
jramos4984 They will have to make a new leveling kit for the 2019.
That will be my next truck!!
Roger l worth it!
I love it truck
The AUX switches are not taking away any buttons anymore! Diesel sounds quiet too... did it sound quiet vs previous gen?
#KnowWhatYou'reTowing The diesel sounds the same outside, but you hear it a little less in the cabin.
And if you can I am looking in to the 2019 ram power wagon
Wonder how the ride is with airbags
whats the mpg on this completely empty ?
The truck in this video is not the 1000 torque engine. When you panned over the engine the tranny fluid dipstick is on the left. That is the location on the 68rfe tranny. Tranny fluid check on the right side looking in from the front of the truck is an Aisin. Been that way for years and has remained unchanged on the 2019's.
Hey kid, good job.
rgrndu thank you!
Please tell me the rims on the Limited are also an option for the Longhorn. Every 2019 HD Longhorn I've seen has hideous rims.
C.T. Productions They look better in person, but I do prefer the limited rims more so.
@@BenHardyCars I'm not doubting that they in terms of texture look good.
The design is just ugly to me. Do you guys plan on getting and doing an overview on a 2500 Cummins as well?
C.T. Productions Yes, I’m waiting for a 2500 limited to arrive.
I wanna see how the 6.4hemi does paired with that new 8 speed
Mike Hunt I made a video on that!
I have a 2019 3500 High Output Dually. Approaching 5,000 miles and it's getting 16 mpg on the highway.
The 68RFE trans is only good as the warranty lasts. Buy the Bigger motor and trans. I wish the 2500 would come with the bigger trans and HO Cummins. Nothing would beat that!
Hard to believe you have 2 '19 Ram HDs at your dealership already. I talked to a couple local Dodge/Ram dealers here in Central NYS this week, they said they're not expeting to recieve any till the middle to end of April. The Ram web site, and the build / price feature, isnt even avalible yet. Still just has the original "Look at our new truck" info on there.
Rommel SmithSmith Ram always gives us trucks they spec out early, before we receive the trucks we built.
I'm hoping that doesn't mean that the "Build & Price" feature won't be available till the end of April... this close to launch they should've released it already.
That sucks they are driving them in the South Texas area already. Texas is king of all kinds of trucks.
My local dealerships said the same end of April. I'm waiting for PowerWagon.
cruz mascorro the 19’s are already in the south.. they are everywhere in Houston
Damn that ram looks sick ass hell
Does your test model have a fifth wheel?
RFE: Real Fucking Edgy. Always remember to get the Aisin.
Maybe you need some high heeled shoes or a step stool. The shots of the engine are hilarious. Could only see the radiator cover.
Chris S Or I just get better at filming.🤔🤔🤔
Sadly I think I'll have to bow out of new truck market with the escalating prices. My wife and I make a solid middle/upper class living and looking at $800-$1200 a month payments isn't realistic. I've even seen used 2016 Ram 2500 going for the price of new 2018 $54k Longhorn Laramie. Crazy. Which isn't a bad price but last one available kinda thing. I guess people are buying them. Won't be us in that payment bracket.
So we've set our sites on something with enough torque and hp to tow a trailer. For ME that starts at a 2010 Ram 2500 with 350hp and 650 some odd torque. Good enough for us.
Why consider a Laramie Longhorn if price is an issue? That's the top of the line model. Besides, it's never the last one available. There's always new trucks to sell you.
I say this because I actually think the used truck market is where craziness is at. To get a significantly lower price, you have to look at 10 year old trucks, but you should still expect to spend $20+ on a truck. I understand people can only afford what they can afford, but you certainly don't buy used for the value.
If you keep an eye out and are willing to buy out of state, you can find some good deals. Back in 2016, I bought a 2016 RAM 2500 Laramie with the 5.7 Hemi. It had 4400 miles on it; practically new. I bought it for 42K. The truck was in Burnsville Minnesota. I flew over there and drove the truck back to California. It took me about 29 hours to drive it home. My payments were $675 at the time. I am a Ford guy but, once I looked into the RAM 2500, I started respecting and liking RAM. I am waiting for another opportunity like that to get the 2019 RAM 2500.
@@robertoterriquez2132
Good to know. I see 2500 Laramie with the 6.7 diesel going for $49k which is ok. However, I believe the latter part or fourth quarter 2020 will be a banner year for the truck market.
Ram will have matured with this generation, Toyota will come out with their all new Tundra and I expect Ford & Chevy to step up to their game. They won't have a choice.
Also getting back to your point there will be some GREAT deals on 2019 Rams to make room for the new refreshed Ram.
It'll be a very good year.
Will installing air bags give it a smooth ride unloaded?
iondetox usually rougher unless it’s autoleveling
When AEV releases its new gear and wheel module, you can run lower tire pressure. When you’re aired up to 65 in the front and 75 in the rear, the truck is going to ride like you’re tires are made of rocks. I have a ‘13 Limited on 37’s. I run 55 psi in the front and rear and it rides smooth like butter! Think of tires as part of your suspension. You can have the best shocks in the world, but 65-75 psi is gonna feel terrible. Also, 1 ton springs are a little stiff to begin with.
After spending $75k take $500 and get a set of Sulastic shackle replacements. Takes half the jolt out of HD ride.
In Africa the 6.7 cummins(non-emissions) is to be found in Heavy duty mobile Cranes, in 42-80 tonne semi-trailers, quarry dump trucks, excavators, wheel loaders, long haul buses, military APC's and MRAP's etc...with various manual and Auto trans.
Unbelievable this cummins/Aisin combo is being offered in a consumer truck. So overkill to say the least. Pound for pound the most powerful production pickup truck in the world(drivetrain pedigree). effectively a semi truck for personal use.
68rfe transmission is for those who would like to rebuild their transmission repeatedly. Getting one is a big mistake. Also, what about the fact that the new engine is supposed to be a lot quieter than the previous version?
Kevin Barry it was slightly quieter in the cabin, but not by much.
This truck just blends in, as in it doesn't have the same identifiable exterior as the 4th gens had. Hard to tell which make is what as they all look the same. I don't want to diss the newer truck too much but I'm sure glad I purchased a 2017.
i like the 2019 better
@@bigbossman5969 Me too, even though I haven't been in a 5th gen Cummins yet. When I asked my friend if his dad got a 5th gen, he said "Oh God no! We would never get a new Ram." I think Dodge is making good strides to improve. Two years ago, I wouldn't have been caught dead in a 03 or newer Ram. Now it would be my top pick, although it's mostly because Ford doesn't have a Cummins or Detroit option.
@@fordman2698 ok

I thought you had to get a dually to get the 400/1000. In the older models I know you had to get a dually for the HO motor... or that's what I was told anyways
michael schneider Just have to get the aisin
No Aisin or HO in the 2500. Only 3500 models SRW or DRW get the Aisin and the HO and can not get the Aisin on the lower torque model. Same as the last few years had to be the 3500 didn't matter on rear wheel set up.
They don't offer the G56 for this truck?
mickyfingaz 2018 was the last year
1000 lb-ft doesn’t amount to much if you can’t get out of regen mode.
Just delete all of the emission crap
Actually cheaper because right now they are trying to get rid of the leftovers
Cummins does not have any issues with emissions
Same body lines
Does it offer a way to do a manual regeneration? No one can answer this question, all any reviewer does is pander to the manufacturer, what did they do to improve their EGR or DPF?
There is no manual regen
@@hlc22391 You can do a manual re-gen of the dpf system. But you have to have a Snap-on computer to start it. Thats a 4k dollar tool.
James Jarmon that just plain silly, I was asking cause I was tempted to buy a new ram dually, guess I’ll stick with my ford, ford offers an option on all trim levels called OCR or operator command regen, I can manually do a regen while sitting on my couch, the truck will only prompt me to do a static regen when the soot level reaches 120%, which only has happened twice in 54k miles, I have short commutes during the week, this option is available on ‘17-2020 models, ford has this emissions crap figured out, keeps me from ever going into limp mode, thx for the response
I was told the other day at the dealership by the service manager that 2019 DOES have a manual REGEN and he was pretty excited about it.
@@hlc22391 WRONG I was told the other day at the dealership by the service manager that 2019 DOES have a manual REGEN and he was pretty excited about it
Bout to fuckin end it all and buy this out on irresponsibility and impulse knowing damn well I can’t afford it.
Is it true that rams don’t last ? I’ve heard that a couple of times just wondering if anyone has had that experience beforev
moneycash23 g I’ve seen the diesels come in with 500k on the odo and still run great
Ben Hardy thx for the feedback
How much would this setup tow?
33,500 pounds
So u get a mega cab and all it is extra storage behind the seats? So dodge still has small back seats compared to fords new super duty seems kinda dumb by dodge why didn’t they just push the back seats all the way back with none of that storage behind the seat to have the maximum amount of leg room
Luke Dobmeier Interior space felt about the same when I reviewed a 2018 ford heavy duty.
Where is this truck really made?
ega0117 Cummins engine built in the US. Finally assembly for the truck is Mexico.
I'm guessing 80-90k for this truck??
$120,000
What is the price on the truck
percy scott Almost $80,000 😂😂

When they revealed that truck they had the knob shifter not the column shifter on all the trucks. What happened to it, I prefer the column shifter.
No knob for the Diesel.. only gas
@@hlc22391 oh that's cool
that was a 2500 with the 8 speed zf transmission
@@bigbossman5969 what does that have to do with the shifter
@@austinblevins6804 because thats the type the zf transmissions use. the rotary knob
Do all 3500’s have the 1000 lb/ft of torque Diesel engine?
Dick Large No
Its an option
It looks like its leaking some fluid at the end.
Probably not but, looks bad.
Rocky Goomba probably just water, still snowing and raining like crazy here!
Everything I've seen and read you can only get the 1000 ft lbs in a dually. Not the 2500 or 3500 single wheel
2020 the 1000 motor is available in 2500 and 3500 single wheel trucks with Aisen transmission
Payload?
Brad Marlin just under 4,000lbs for a 3500 megacab.
About 7,600 pounds
Old body , new interior
Hey with the way other truck manufacturers are going, i think they played it safe. The old body is an instant classic. At least they didnt fuck it up like GM
Noa Gomez if ain’t broke don’t fix it
Dom Forte yup, not a fan of the grill though. Needs more style. Also the big RAM on it doesnt look aesthetic
Ive always thought it would make it a bit nicer looking if the Long Horn models had Long Horn(like an actual long horn shape) badges instead of ram or Ram logos.
Pretty much just got a new front clip with grill and headlights to match. The interior is mostly an ‘18 Rebel with the Laramie interior. I agree with ya Noa! Why change what works?
I would immediately delete the emission crap when I got mine
and u would void your warranty

I'm sorry, I can't help it. It's an engine, not a motor. Motors are electric.
mucho gracious 🧐🧐🧐
Actually he’s right calling it a “motor”
mo·tor
/ˈmōdər/Submit
noun
1.
a machine, especially one powered by electricity or internal combustion, that supplies motive power for a vehicle or for some other device with moving parts.
Agree,
Motorsports, not Enginesports 🤔
I'm not a big fan of push button starting for a diesel, it's much easier to cycle the heaters in the winter with a key. It's kinda counterintuitive
Thomas Savella the push button system does that for you automatically.
@@BenHardyCars but the ability to manually cycle it and if need be a second or third time is something he owner should be in control of. Can't trust the computer the whole time
Can you now buy these
Kenneth Charles yes
Ben Hardy were can you get the power wagon
Kenneth Charles we have some on order and you can special order them as well.
Ben Hardy so you have 2019 power wagons on the way but it does not show me on ram truck.com so I can’t build my power wagon
Kenneth Charles Yes, I just ordered two for customers this week actually!
Beautiful truck but I cant see paying $75,000 for it, My parents house was cheaper then this truck, after 20 years they sold it for $469,000 how much would this truck be worth after 20 years?? maybe $5,000
It’s and engine not a “motor”.
You should probably Google the definition of "motor"...
Jeremy you should learn how to physics. A motor is any device that converts electrical into mechanical power. An engine takes chemical energy and converts it into mechanical. That’s why so many people get upset with the definitions.
@@miltonzinn8732 I see you didn't look up the definition either. You don't get to redefine words just because you don't like the definition. Pop quiz, what does GM stand for?
Jeremy Schoeder I didn’t redefine it. That’s the physics definition. You know that thing in high school and college they teach kids so they can learn how the world works. I don’t need a book written by linguists to tell me what a mathematic principle is. So pop quiz, what does laser stand for?
Also, GM stands for guided missile, general manager, general maintenance, and a host of other things silly man.
@@miltonzinn8732 You're deflecting. General Motors was the correct answer. And let us not forget about Ford Motor Company. If the definition of motor includes engines, and engine manufactures freely refer to them as motors, then your argument is garbage.
Overall good video, thanks for sharing but if I could add some constructive feedback...... you’re hitting all of the key points but doing it VERY quickly, rushing thru the detail. Also the camera when you’re “showing” a feature doesn’t fully focus on it or you move past it to fast...you get in the general area but again don’t spend enough time for us to see what you’re trying to highlight. This again makes it seem as if you’re rushing thru the video. I understand trying to make a short, informative video, reducing watching time, unload time, etc but I think you’re loosing the quality of your offering. Just my humble opinion. Again, thanks for sharing!
ski house I appreciate the feedback, always trying to make things better!
In all honesty you can be proud you made it to 1000 first but compared to gm 910 and fords what? 935? Its not a big gap or achievement. There all right in the same tow ratings and dosent really change much. If it was like 1200-1400 i would have been impressed but 90 more then gm and 65 more then ford? Not saying much there
steveMCHS it’s always a torque rating war, even though they all tow about the same amount.
@@BenHardyCars well at this point the war is pretty pointless. I mean they will all pull what you want as well as any other of the big 3. Really the new war will be mpg soon. Though i dont really care about mpg lol i drive a 03 gmc sierra denali quadrasteer so mpg is something i dont really care for. Though better mpg with that 6.0L then my 03 monte carlo ss with the 3.8L v6.
I bet this baby costs $70k+
Just wait till middle of year I got my 18 in July for 53k got them down 20k
Motors are electric...
M.P.G.?
John McBride Probably going to be pretty close to mid teens combined.
15mpg avg
Way too many ads for a 10 minute video....
You shouldn't be reviewing vehicles if you really don't understand wheelbase? The longer the wheelbase the better high-speed-stability & smoother the ride (also the wider the turning ratio). The shorter the wheelbase (Like a jeep) the better the traction/rougher the ride. Reason being is a short wheelbase increases the geometry of suspension travel allowing a better ability for the suspension to adjust and grip terrain. That's why sports cars tend to have a longer wheel bases, comparative to their overall size, because a sports car needs to balance high-speed-stability (why dragsters are a mile long) to traction, which they often overcome with wider tires, slip-differentials & all-wheel drive etc... Jeeps, atv's & many SUV's on the other almost ALWAYS have short comparative wheel bases for traction & maneuverability. They also tend to have really tight turning radiuses & can ride a bit rougher than a common car/truck. That's why the wrangler unlimited 4dr rides so much better that the regular wrangler with the shorter wheelbase.
Would have been nice if you wiped the dash and inside door down before filming, we the viewers can see everything at 1080p, if you truly want people to click like next time ok 👌
