- In the 2020 offseason, the Oklahoma City Thunder began a rebuild for the first time in franchise history. Less than four years later, they're in the drivers seat to land the number one seed in a stacked Western Conference ahead of preseason favorites like the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, and more. They're one of the youngest teams in the like, it's a roster of guys who were often doubted throughout their careers, and they continue to be doubted, and this is just the beginning for them. Crazy how you can go the entire video completely ignoring Giddey's contribution. Like him or hate him off the court you can't deny that he's part of the reason why OKC's where they are at right now and I'm sure he's still going to be in the organization's plans moving forward.
Check out The last storm. True OKC fans and love the whole team including giddey. Cone just radio silent about why he ignored one of the starters and most important player when sga wasnt playing.
SGA is not carrying OKC. He is their best player, but they are a hell of a team. Chet deserves so much more credit than he is getting.

I think we can say that SGA's confidence permeates through this team while the whole team is great. The Thunder has great players, with JDub, Chet, Dort, Giddey, Cason Wallace, Wiggins, Joe, Kenrich Williams, JWill. However, SGA is the catalyst, and the go-to player in the clutch moments.
I think a statement like "carrying" may be a strong statement for sure, but SGA is the difference-maker for sure.
As a Canadian sports fan I’m always gonna route for Shai. He’s a god, gold at the olympics coming this year!

As a fellow Thunder fan, I feel that at the moment we might be slightly geared more towards the regular season than the playoffs and had us finishing 3rd in the West at the start of the season behind the Nuggets and the Suns.

This was an amazing season for the Thunder! They have a fantastic young team and are very well coached! I've been a Thunder fan way before they were even the Thunder. I became a fan back in the mid 70's when they were the Super Sonics. I was excited to see them in the NBA championship against a great bullets team in 1978 and then coming back the next year and beating the bullets in 1979 for their only NBA championship. Since then they've had some great teams like in 1996 when they went to the finals against Michael Jordan's Chicago bulls and lost 4-2 in a very competitive series considering the bulls had one of the best teams of all time.
I loved seeing the young Thunder grow and go to another championship in 2012 which unfortunately many bad calls went against our very young team and tributed to them losing the series against the Heat. Now I'm very excited about this season and the Thunder's future!!! Go Thunder!!!
I found it amazing that people, even Three here, didnt see how good this team was. They have some of the best depth in the league.
The teams construction exploits basically everyone as they are the first, true, positionless team.
They clearly made masurable and drastic improvements over last season and addressed roster/rotation concerns.
Lastly, and this is something ive said since 2021; people have completely ignored, didnt know or never considered how SGA and Dort learned on or of the ability of leadership or to lead. Go look at year 2 of the rebuild and look at the results of when SGA and Dort where healthy, OKC was PO bound and thats why Presti didnt screw around and pulled them immediately. Even in year 1 of the rebuild, you can see it, although i doubt they where a PO team thwn
Pre-season i predicted 51 to 58 wins, max.
A top 4 seed with 3rd seed as most likely and maintained that even as the 1st or 2nd in the final week/5 games or so.

Obviously the end seeding was wrong and the 2nd rd exit we have yet to see. THAT said, ive adjusted my prediction to be a WCFs exit.

I predicted 51 wins before the season but thought that was ambitious - it was a biased absolute wild best case scenario. Turns out I should have had more faith! Great season, this is one to remember in 10 years from now regardless of how the playoffs go.

I've been a fan since KD was drafted by Seattle but I've been a mega diehard fan since the Russ shot against the Lakers in the playoffs when he was on the fast break and threw it up as he was fouled. I'm so glad I stuck with this team because this is the most fun team I've ever seen in the NBA (I'm 28 and got a little bit of a late start, watching regularly since like 2009ish
Would like to see Mavs vs Thunder in Western conference if possible. I would like to see the Thunder go far and I'm a Mavs fan so... of course I want the Mavs there. As much as Denver is the betting favourite, I think things could go a lot different than people expect. I wouldn't bet on this match-up, I just think it'd be cool and isn't out of the question.

Lakers just tend to have a slow start. They’ve looked way better since post ASW. It’s just a super competitive Western Conference but people shouldn’t ever sleep on the Lakers. They were a WCF team last season and that’s not a fluke. Lebron & AD always give you a chance. AD has been dominating this year
I did not expect OKC to get the number one seed at all. It's crazy that this is the same team that missed the playoffs last year in a tragic (and anticlimactic) battle against the Timberwolves. I was one of those people who was a bit skeptical of OKC throughout the year and thought that Shai was overrated, but I followed the team throughout the season and was impressed. This is why basketball is so great - you can literally see teams make comebacks and be unpredictable in the playoffs and regular season.
Speaking of playoffs, I'm not sure what is going to happen, and I'm definitely not going to make any predictions(look at 2023 playoffs, for example, lol). If OKC doesn't make it far this year, this is still an amazing accomplishment for the fans and players.
Btw (if you're down) I would love to take you to a Thunder game (maybe during the playoffs or next year?) and possibly get some seats closer to the floor. Best of luck with your team and channel!!
I'm a die-hard Thunder fan & predicted 49 wins, but 56, 57 is another level. After Chets poor Summer League, I thought he'd struggle offensively for the first 2mos. Plus, I figured Chet would rest on Back to Backs. I never thought Wiggs would be 3rd for non-Bigs in TS%.

I felt the Thunder would win around 48 games at the beginning of the season and was thinking they end up between the 6th and 4th seeds because the West is so stacked and wow did they prove everyone wrong!

As a thunder fan, the issue with the team for the playoffs is that they could just as easily make it to the WCF as they could lose in the first round. The reason it’s an issue is cuz ppl will just disregard them if the latter happens, which is very undeserved for how good we’ve rly been this year. I hope we can prove the ppl wrong tho 🙏🏾

I really see them as capable of making a deep playoff run however my issue is that they might get matched up with the Lakers being the n1 seed which would be the absolute worst matchup for them. They have struggled all season against them and I don't see that changing since it is just a bad matchup. If they get passed that initial hurdle and beat the Lakers they have the clippers ahead which in my opinion arent a 4 seed just started really slow meaning if they had james harden from the beginning of the season would probably be a n1 or 2 seed (I have the clippers beating dallas) assuming they beat the clippers which they are capable of even though they have struggled against them too they have the nuggets assuming they lose to the wolves or suns which they are could well lose to I see them winning the conf final and then it is either the Celtics or the Bucks (idk why the Bucks are such underdogs btw I think they match up well against the Celtics). Hence it is possible they become nba champions

I mean nothing against Cone or anybody else but cab somebody explain to me how we keep saying "the thunder weren't supposed to be this good" when all everybody heard all off-season was how the thunder were up and coming and were gonna be one of the top teams this season.
He said it in the video people expected okc to be good but not potentially the number 1 seeed you don’t expect a team to go from the 10th seed to 1st and from 40 wins to 57

thunder are ahead of the timeline. the thunder being a contender was inevitable. everyone thought it was a season or two too early for the thunder to do this though.
yes the twolves did something similar with climbing the ranks and becoming a contender but that was after a poor season last year after trading 7 picks and 5 players for gobert.
