  • ‘Hoshizukuyo ni Omou’ performed by NUS Guitar Ensemble at Odyssey, held at NUS University Cultural Centre Theatre, Singapore, on 12th March 2023.
During the famous Tanabata (star) festival, slips of paper with written wishes are tied onto wishing trees in the hopes that a pair of star-crossed lovers will help grant these wishes. Hoshizukuyo ni Omou, meaning “Wishes under the moon and starry sky”, conveys
the intense longing of these two lovers - Orihime and Hikiboshi - who are separated by the Milky Way and can only meet once a year. With its layered, repetitive melodies, coupled with variation in tone colour throughout, this composition by Kengo Momose brings the audience on an emotional journey of yearning and loss.
    Composed by Kengo Momose
Alto Cembalo: Kaylee Therese Poh Di Er
    Cymbals: Lee Chu Xuan Stacy
    Glockenspiel: Han Wei Tian
    Timpani: Zhang Jin Tao
