  • ➤ BMW OEM Valve Cover Kit (N55 Engine) -- bit.ly/3Ckq8MM
    Today on JD Cars we’re tackling the inevitable N55 valve cover replacement! These BMW valve covers typically last around 100,000 miles, and with my F30 approaching that mileage this was a piece of preventative maintenance that I wanted to take care of. Overall, not a terribly difficult procedure but definitely allow ample time as this job can consume several hours. Check the links below for parts and recommended tools! Thanks for watching! Stay motivated 🤟

    Great diy. You really go into detail and go over things a lot of others forget to or don't bother. Learned quite a bit from this. You would make a great teacher.
    Keep up the good work 👍

    Thank you, replaced my valve cover gasket on my 640i following this video, when removing valve cover the plastic piece that clips inside valve cover disconnected from valve cover, reinstalled valve cover without putting that plastic piece back on inside valve cover ! (Forgot about it)
    How important is that for functioning of the car ???
    Thanks

      Carefully check your electrical connections to both the MAF sensor and cylinder 5 coil. Also check the wires for any breaks.

    Great job! the thing that i really Do Not understand, it why?? why ? why? would any Mechanic or Technician use the/a OEM top pan Gasket again,after it has proven to not do it job??,.... remember this OEM top pan gasket is the reason (in most cases) there is oil leaking down from the top pan on the hot exhaust.... so using the same OEM Gasket.... the same thing is and will and is going to happen again.... i never saw anything anywhere in writing from BMW that this NEW replacement gasket is of a different composite or modified in any way..... so your/mine vehicle will leak again in the future... ty great video sir.

      OEM parts are the most trustworthy, and even if this valve cover fails another 100,000 miles from now, it is covered by the FCP Euro lifetime warranty 😎

      @@JDCarsChannel , Well, i have been a shop owner myself for 20 plus years and has been into the Auto industry since i was 16 years old and worked at the engineering side of life all of my life... My personal Opinion is only "my Opinion and "logic" thinking, why would i replace it with OEM? Honestly... BMW is and has been having this /inherited" problem for foreverrrrr. it was never rectified by BMW Engineers ( think about it, A Human can send a spaceship to the moon and back,but he/she cannot invent/make a good gasket composite? The thing is BMW continues to have leaks in many places on their engines,which is a pure embarrassment for,what i would think a "top class company/ with very expensive vehicles. All because of a gasket composition problem???. So the OEM Gasket itself is really not the "most trustworthy" at all. I personally will "not" use OEM Gasket ( i dont like doing my same work repeatedly, i personally did learn of these types of issues in the automotive world and changed things accordingly), As to reference with the Valve Cover, I keep this in mind when i am needing a New Valve Cover,, ty, for response and input

    Hey JD Cars. Did you happen to have misfires and a stumbling idle? So far I’ve I replaced my plugs and coils. Along with 2 injectors for cylinder 5 and 6. Still get combustion misfires. Most noticeable in reverse and slow speeds. When I disconnect the MAF it smooths out and I get no misfire codes. I’ve swapped MAF sensors with a friends car and that didn’t help.

    Confused what "pic" valve you said was broken that can't be replaced?

    • @JDCarsChannel
      @JDCarsChannel  Před rokem

      There is an internal valve, within the valve cover itself. This valve didn't end up being broken in our case, but can sometimes fail and is not designed to be replaced independently.
