Justice is meant to be blind. Their solution to double standards would be that they aren't a problem. Once the revolution wins (arc of history and that nonsense), the good people can selectively decide to crush hateful dissent but turn a blind eye at other times. If they're advocating for subjective discretion, that was a standard by which judges could be swayed by class, kinship or cronyism. Justice being blind was a profound improvement.
Applying consistency standards sounds reasonable. But much of the time, beliefs in freespeech or equal treatment aren't sincere and - to the extent to which they apply - would only apply until the new pure people can seize power. Accusing someone of double standards or hypocrisy requires that they actually care. Otherwise, they're engaged in a pretence while trying to short circuit or subvert the game that society agreed to.
