  • We are a little over a week removed from Eurovision Song Contest 2023, and I am here to share my thoughts on it. This video will be nothing more than just me telling you what I thought of almost all songs and performances - I say almost all because some I have totally already forgotten and will never watch or listen to again. So, if you’re not a fan of lazy videos like this where I just share my opinion, that’s totally cool, I’ll see you for my next video, when I’ll be talking about politics and Eurovision.

Hi! Just a little context for Spain’s lyrics, since you talked about them being repetitive, and even tho I agree in some way, I think that they make sense when you know a bit more about them:
Well, first, the song is a nana, which is a song that is sung to children so that they fall asleep, and the name, eaea, is a reference to that, since here, singing eaea in loop to children is the most common thing for a nana. The song is dedicated to Blanca’s grandma, Carmen, who was the woman that taught Blanca about music and flamenco, and with this song she carries the legacy of her and of all women who have shared this tradition with their descendants.
It’s also important to mention Federico García Lorca, one of the most important poets from Spain, since in the song there are many references to his work.
    “My child when I die
I’ll get buried in the moon
And I’ll see you every night
    Every night except one”
For Lorca, the child (el niño) represented innocence, something weak that needs protection, in this case, the protection of her grandma, something that is reflected in the performance thanks to the circle of fringes, that represents Blanca’s grandma hugging and protecting her when she’s inside the circle.
Lorca’s work also mentions the night, the moon, or death, and that’s reflected in the lyrics as well: The night is dark, it represents the unknown, and that’s why Blanca’s grandma wants to be buried in the moon, to watch out for her child every night except one, the night with New Moon, when we can’t see it.
Also, I read some days ago that “Lagrimitas del Nilo, Noches en vela” (tears of the Nile, nights staying awake) is another important reference: it talks about a new generation (which makes sense because she’s mixing traditional sounds with very modern ones) which has been left by their parents (mostly due to economic reasons) and has had to be raised by grandparents, who have stayed awake watching behind us.
I think Blanca has definitely been robbed, her voice, her song, the whole performance was absolutely on another level for me, but I guess this is Eurovision and there’s not an exact formula to do well. I hope you have learned a bit more of eaea and Blanca and I’m glad you liked the song! I really enjoyed your video!

About Italy: it’s was very emotional performance, Marco has grown as artists after 2013 and he showed everything he can. He even slightly fell after performance, he gave every energy he had. That’s why public and jury gave a lot of points for him. I was surprised because of song, but I was happy for Marco, he deserved it.

Luke’s song is not just about sleeping to avoid problems…its about all tragedies, horrors, problems, violence, riots that are happening in the world and no one isn’t doing anything about it,same for personal problems..during song dancers are in matrix:
-following all the rules that goverment said, being hypnotized by them and being on their side
And by unplugging them they wake up and literally go insane(after seeing what a horror this world actually is and they didn’t even notice cuz goverment hide it with some unimportant news)and then they all go to “boss fight” actually they started fighting against everything i mentioned….
U didn’t read lyrics if u said lyrics are childish….
    WAR,VIOLENCE,RAGE,!VIRUS!
    SAVEST SPAVA
    DOK SVET GORI
    VOICE SILENCED,GUNS,RIOTS
    RAZUM SPAVA
    DOK SVET GORI
But after seeing filip balos in the beginning i knew u were about to hate on luke cuz ur mad that ur fav lost, even worser is that ur serbian and most of male serbs hate him cuz they think he’s “lgbt” or “demonic” which is so funny but serbia is famous for being homophobic, limited, dumb and primitive country so it’s okay ig…
And people who vibe to this song are not below mentally or rlly under 16 it’s just ones who had a harder life and found song relatable and ones who likes art too
Also hating on croatia while they literally had iconic and memorable performance, massive and world message for PEACE u put them on last cuz ur dumbass lmao….no taste at all. I mean ur serb so ur probably for russia and putin🤣 and also nationalist by hating croatia cuz of history and political relationship which is poor

My highlights at this year’s Eurovision is the following:
Spain 🇪🇸, Portugal 🇵🇹 and France 🇫🇷 were placed way to low compared to my rating. Mimicat was amazing, and it’s a shame that she got 23rd.
The first semi final was miles better than the second one.
As a Dane 🇩🇰, I’m sad to say that this year we didn’t have ANY good songs to represent us, but this was “the best of the worst”. It would’ve been much worse if we showed up with anything else.
Georgia’s “Echo” 🇬🇪 should’ve qualified, and I’ll die on that hill. That song was in my list to qualify by a lot, compared to other songs in the 2nd semi final.
I’ve noticed Switzerland 🇨🇭 keeps sending “pretty boys”, but after Gjon, none of them really have any energy or quality in their voice to convert the song’s message.
I think the guy from Ireland 🇮🇪 lost his voice during the performance or something. It didn’t sound good. Also he reminded me of a young Elvis in gold, which was weird.
This might be criminal, but I thought Croatia 🇭🇷 was kind of catchy at the beginning, and then it all went in different directions. Makes me wonder how Albina didn’t qualify in 2021 but this did.
Australia 🇦🇺 had a few issues for me. Mainly that the bald guy playing the guitar had a better singing voice imo than the lead singer. Also the set up with the car in the beginning made no sense. The song was good, when you compare it to other songs from the 2nd semi final, but the bar was almost on the floor.
According to my friend who I watched Eurovision with (she’s from Poland) “Solo” was rigged by the government, and Polish people know this.
I’m so sorry to everyone from Poland 🇵🇱 for what happened
Greece 🇬🇷 needed backup dancers. His movements during the entire song was distracting to look at. It was awful to watch, and gave both me and my friend secondhand embarrassment.
There were 2 trends at this year’s Eurovision: The color pink, or the singers starting/ending the song laying down. There was a lot of this, when you start to notice it.
If I were to give my points to 10 countries, they would be as follows:
    Sweden - 12 🇸🇪
Finland - 10 🇫🇮 (also liked the crowd interrupting Graham and Hannah screaming “Cha cha cha”)
    Norway - 8 🇳🇴
    France - 7 🇫🇷
    Portugal - 6 🇵🇹
    Spain - 5 🇪🇸
    Austria - 4 🇦🇹
Israel - 3 🇮🇱 (might be a low score, because I kept comparing the dance break to Chanel’s last year, which was flawless. Other than that I only remember the “phenomenal” part and the “you wanna see me dance?” part of the song.)
Czechia - 2 🇨🇿 (Didn’t expect this song to grow on me as much as it did)
    Slovenia - 1 🇸🇮

But the Studio Versions always slap, which is more importaint in the long run

Couldn't agree with you more about Serbia and couldn't disagree with you more about Eaea. The only reason people liked Serbia's song is because of how cute Luke is I guess? And I have no idea what's with Ev fans' fixation about Luke Black since last year. The guy isn't even that known in his own homeland. It's a shame because this year they had one of the best national finals with so many good songs and they chose literally the worst to send to EV (well they didn't really, but yeah).
Now to Eaea...*sigh*...it was the worst of this year for me as well, and I'm glad the public could see how horrible it was. Repetitive, monotone, boring, no build up. WTF did this song have?! And her fans should stop telling people "you don't get art". Eaea is like one of those paints that has only one banana in it, but somehow people call that "art". You can call it art, to me and to the rest of the world who gave her 5 pts, it's just a banana.
I wanted Kaarija to win, but I can understand why Loreen won. Her performance was perfect. Curated to the max. and every element in it was excellent. Overall, this was a bad year. I only have Kaarija and Loreen in my spotify. I would hope that Kaarija's success will make countries send something unique and good next year.
