    Holy crap, you saved my old PC! I installed the motherboard GPU drivers and Windows 7 locked up. Reboot and it would come to a black screen after Windows loaded and the mouse moves for like five seconds before rebooting. After several re-installs and trying to remove old drivers from within Windows, nothing was helping. Windows 10 would freeze like in this video, where the wheel freezes during loading. After DAYS of troubleshooting, even bringing out the multimeter to verify the power from the PSU and connections on the GPU, I found this video and flashing the ROM fixed it! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

      lol yep, I was thinking the exact same thing, and he needs to upgrade that old 780 anyway, I don't know what most people have these days, but I know I upgraded from 2 680s in SLI, last year, to two 1080s in SLI, either way Nick deserves new graphics cards, if I was upgrading now, from 680s, I would probably go with two 1080TIs, in SLI,granted the 2080TI is out now, so SLIing those cards wouldn't be a bad way to go, either way Nick needs an upgrade lol.

    • @pspvita99
      @pspvita99 Před 5 lety +2

      @@G33KSPALACEdotCOM Medium settings is not something I would want to deal with/ for me a card would need to play at max settings/60fps and above, at what ever resolution you want, for me, a single 1080, is a 720p card, because a 1080 at 1080p, will drop below 60fps at max setting on GTA V, at times, it sucks, but even 2 1080s in SLI, while playing GTA V will drop below 60 fps, at times in GTA V, so a 780 would probably drop to 10 or 15 fps, at times, anyway a 780, for me, is not even a relevant card, unless your gaming at 720p.

      2. 8800 GT in SLI that idles at 100C and at full load 105C!
      3. and 2 HDD at 60C and a 700 Watt Power Supply! the internal TEMP never got under 45C!
      hence my setting on the thermostat never got placed above 10C and the room was above 15C at any time the PC was running in the winter! some might say it would cost more on the Electricity bill... think about it, can you play games on your heating solution? do you game all day? then the real thing that waste money IS your heating solution, unlike your PC that serves a purpose for the heat it creates!

  • @samjones1392
    @samjones1392 Před 6 lety +19

    I use the same card and have been through all of this same troubleshooting and frustration since moving to windows 10. After much frustration and research on the internet and Nvidia forums found that what is happening is that under windows 10 the Driver never really uninstalls, so when you go to update and install new drivers it glitches right there and fails the install. I quickly found what many others have to fix this easily is to use the free program DDU (display driver uninstaller)....this will boot your system into safe mode automatically and completely force wipe the driver and allows you to then install the new ones cleanly. Although updating the rom may work as it did for Jay, the card is old and you can see in the last couple of Nvidia driver release notes that the GTX 780 has been moved to legacy (end of life).... YES! of course its way over due time for an upgrade, but I digress, Been waiting for GPU prices to simmer down and still I can play most modern titles with decent eye candy and frame rates. This card has been a real trooper for me over the last several years and in multiple builds. I had sent feedback to Nvidia and Microsoft in regards to the strange glitches and obvious incompatibility from the release of windows 10 to no avail....I'm a bit shocked that this same issue is still present and has made it's way to the public via Jayztwocents. In conclusion, if Nick does have trouble on his own rig when he goes to reinstall it, using DDU should help him to get the drivers to install properly.

    Here's what to do next time instead of playing with ROM and risking breaking a GPU jay...
    1. Use DDU to uninstall all Nvidia Data.
    2. Run the nvidia driver but don't install it, let it just extract the necessary files to your C: Drive.
    3. Go to C:/Nvidia/ and execute as Admin the ''setup.exe''.
    4. After it's installed, reboot and boom, it will work fine.
    The problem that happens is that sometimes some leftover files will be there and mess up your windows. And then, when you try to install the Nvidia drivers, it won't even correctly launch the setup.exe as admin so it won't install properly. Try it, you'll see it works 100% of the times.

    I've had a similar issue with a very old GPU in the past (GT 6600)
    This was my temporary card setting up Ryzen while waiting for my card to arrive.
    I found that the latest drivers would work on the desktop but not in games. An outdated driver would work in games but not on the desktop.
    Whenever the opposing driver was installed, CPU was pegged at 100% utilization.
    Thanks for this video, I'll make sure to update the ROM on that card so I can use it for testing more effectively in the future!

    I might be able to tell what happend to the card, there has been issues where Windows driver don't work with custom VBios made with NVflash Certs Bypassed. and makes windows 10 not load the driver with Error 43. It would have been really nice i you had dumped the bios first to confirm if it was a stock bios. I made a post here that described a similar problem. My investigation was that drivers older than 385.69 works with custom bios but stops on newer ones. Using a random stock firmware makes the newer driver work. From reports i could see some have been able to use Custom bioses, but haven't yet been able to find a pattern to why some works.
