- 1967 Corvette Restoration | High Build Primer
In this part of the 1967 Vette restoration, I'm applying a high build primer to help fill in deep scratches from the block sanding process.
This puts us one step closer to seeing this beauty in Marina Blue!

🤣🤣 Always representing PLC! 🙌
Jake you do a amazing amount of work for one person , I am in the middle of priming a 67 C20 I am using a Siphon feed gun ,from Amazon its a gedu W-77 with a 2.5 tip I find it works well with the 2K primer. I bought it based on the good reviews, I am thinking about buying a 2nd gun so I can have a backup ( primer gun and also a second cup . but so far so good( It has not let me down ) I wanted to test it out first to see how well it works . Thanks for taking the time to make these videos Pete M
Thanks Pete! I've had a lot of awesome jobs come into the shop, and got a bunch lined up for the year! It's going to be a fun year of videos!
Sounds like you've got a good project!
Thanks for sharing. It would be nice to see you sand some areas if you have time. The suggestion on the proper gun was helpful.
What do you charge to strip prine sand and paint a 1967 big block Corvette coupe! Never hit...1 base clear repaint.
i have to ask the question. over here in the UK the small percentage of fiberglass cars have Gel coat on. but ive noticed that american cars dont seem to bother with that. do you use something like an etching primer before laying the paint on. As im currently restoring a Reliant rialto 3 wheeler and is covered with gel coat cracks. and truth be told i dont know what to do for the best (1 remove the gel coat and use a primer (etching) or (2 put another gel coat on top after sanding out the cracks?
Tried to send pictures. Can’t. Sanding near the end. Prime next week😅
That's awesome man! You can send them on my Facebook page facebook.com/jakeharringtongarage
I’m doin a 67 vette also. I’m so tired of sanding.
There's so much sanding involved 🤣🤣🤣 it's crazy!
How far along are you?
Use a 3.0 tip work so much better and tons faster just fyi
Product is great
I would definitely agree with a bigger tip size. Product is thick!
Is this coming back? Or is your work done on it?
It is coming back for sure! Aiming for the Spring for the rest of the bodywork and paint!
Have you ever used SPI Epoxy Primer?
I haven't! I typically use polyester primers or urethane primers!
@@JakeHarrington I'm doing a 66 vette which was blasted to bare glass. This stuff really seals the original glass. You may want to look at it. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff - and old vette experts.
Anymore progress on this car? Whats your next step?
I've got the car nearly ready for paint! The customer is storing the car for another month or so, and bringing it back to be finished! I'll definitely be posting the rest of the job on the channel!
What about the headlight assembly. I was told they had to be removed before paint
Well, there's many ways to go about it. I like to leave parts on the car. As you block sand, it helps level all those surfaces. Then disassemble and paint!
How do you get the sides of the headlight assembly and the body inside. When the rotate on rhe sides show
I removed mine on my 66. Every one said it was hard The first one was but after I had it out and looked at it so , The other side only took 15 minutes.
