  • Texas Democratic candidate for Governor Beto O’Rourke interrupted a press conference in Uvalde, Texas, being chaired by his political rival, Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott, telling Abbott the Uvalde shooting was “totally predictable.” MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell covers that and how the Republican solution to school shootings didn't work in Uvalde, Texas.

      Police would not want to mistake a parent getting their child, as the murderer, because police can be so gun happy. So they take another cruel line, preventing the parent going to their frightened child in serous danger. It is better to control the sale of guns, but that would affect the gun manufactures profits....... Profits are more important in America, than the lives of American children. It’s a safety issue, a crime issue, a mental health issue, a human issue, a societal health issue, a gun security issue, and a human health & safety crisis. Federal & state government officials are supposed to be making it possible for our citizens to go about our lives peacefully, and safely. United States government officials & state government officials have consistently failed at this.

      @GreyWolfLeaderTW Před 2 lety

      No, he was wrong.
      1. He was a vulture standing on the bodies of the dead children and metaphorically eating them to advance his own political career (he only is doing this because he wants to run for governor), trying to demand that the government should violate the right to keep and bear arms (which is used to defend innocent people all the time) and decreeing anyone who does not submit to his demands is evil. That is cold-hearted Machiavellian appeals to emotion there.
      2. He was out of line for interrupting an ongoing press conference/release where people were already talking. He was violating their right to speak out by interrupting them.
      3. As the Left themselves said, "The personal is political". Meaning to them, *EVERYTHING* is a political issue. So Leftists cannot hide behind the "it isn't a Political Issue"! malarkey when they have been pushing it this whole time.

This whole timeline has been revised more than once and the law enforcement list of officers who actually stopped the gunman has also been revised. It may all be revised again because evidence takes time to collect but the news waits for no one. Shame on anyone who politicizes this tragedy looking for easy answers, instead of studying every aspect of all these school shootings and implementing real changes so that no child will be afraid to go to school. No parent will fear to let their children go to school. The teachers who died trying to protect these children are special heroes who showed extraordinary courage. You’re misunderstanding. Traditional human rights are legal limits to state authority. They are negative: “what the government cannot do”. Rights traditionally cannot require a state to provide something, and they do not restrict private authority. That’s why they’re a flawed concept. In contemporary society we want a right to food, housing, or safe schools. And we tell other citizens it is our right. None of that involves the state, or its absence.

      Gun violence in the United States is slowly becoming more devastating than Hurricanes …Since the beginning of this year there have been at least 27 shooting deaths on school property with 56 people injured. Republican Senators have bluntly refused to offend the NRA and save parents the trauma and grief over the loss of their children and loved ones. A simple call to action is by pre-naming all upcoming and predictable mass shootings after recalcitrant Senators e.g. Ted Cruz Mass Shooting; Mitch McConnell Mass Shooting; Susan Collins Mass Shooting; John Hawley Mass Shooting; Tim Scott Mass Shooting etc. In other words, the Republicans who refuse gun controls will now own future school shootings and other mass murders. This year’s hurricanes will be known as Alex; Bonnie; Colin; Danielle; Rina and Jose, among others.
