In the end they only care for their own desires and nothing else, and they got here by desperate politicians selling the freedoms of others to buy votes.
But at this rate the second civil war is around the corner as the point of no return is quickly approaching.
Though this is likely to be embraced as the far-right see their shrinking voter numbers and would rather strike now than change their political platform.

The correct answer is "propaganda" propelled by jingoistic and chauvinistic interests (do not confuse with "male chauvinism" specifically) and aided by the massive media presence of the US in popular culture and their retaliatory potential in terms of economic matters (i.e being unliked by the US closes a lot of doors for countries that want to create opportunities for trade and diplomacy).
So basically good PR with a hearty dose of fear of economical/literal annihilation has built up the US as the "home of the free" and a "land of opportunity" despite both monikers being severely out of date.
Also Ronda, people who are dissatisfied with their country usually try to work and improve it, they don't just leave. Or are you under the impression that people are incapable of loving something and being disappointed by it at the same time?

Better security outside the schools would have prevented that man from even getting onto the campus and metal detectors would have prevented that second grader from getting that gun to his class.
