It is always a pleasure to revisit Lisbon, where I grew up. It is embedded with culture and history, and let us not talk about the food. Great job at allowing us to visit it vicariously. One small correction at min 15:21: the bridge in the background is 25 de Abril Bridge and not Vasco da Gama Bridge. Originally named after the prime minister António de Oliveira Salazar who ordered its construction, the Salazar Bridge was inaugurated in 1966. After the Carnation Revolution in April 25, 1974, which overthrew the authoritarian Estado Novo Regime, the bridge was renamed 25 de Abril Bridge.

Love this video! We're in Lisbon Spring 2023 and stayed at an Airbnb the same location as your place! What a coincidence. This video bring back sweet memories. It's very crowded in the Spring (everywhere we went). Maybe I should go back next time in the late fall or winter.

Hello & Happy New year! Great vlog. Was on holiday in Portugal in 2013, & visited Lisbon. Hoped to get in the Monastery, but due to the length of the queue, went to the Maritime museum next to it. Strolled along the Tagus, like you, & Jenny, & have loads of photos & happy memories of that time. Look forward watching the vlog with you & Stephanie too. x

I really love your (camilla and Oliver) approach when you put together a well searched vlog about history. it is calm, serious, and informative.
I think the dish that camilla had at the Iranian restaurant was fesenjoon. If so it is a very well known in iran and Iraq, and its either meat, chicken, or duck that is cooked in walnut and pomegranate molasses. If you ever passing through winchester i would love to share that with you on my table.

Thank you for sharing. One of our daughters is married to a Portuguese man (born in South Africa) and she has been to Portugal for a visit with him and his family (we are Australian). I would love to visit Portugal and other European countries, but health reasons won't allow me to fly that far. So, I really appreciate being able to see the places you visit and learn some of the history about them. It's very different to the usual travelogs. Happy New Year!

The bridge is called 25th of April, the Vasco da Gama Bridge is longer and connects the eastern part of Lisbon to the other side of the Tagus.
