- Discover how a 19th Century aristocrat in Madrid really lived. And what is the true opulence of a 19th Century aristocrat in Spain? This week, Ollie and Camilla are exploring Spain's capital and take you inside this striking seventeenth-century mansion, right in the heart of the city. Once owned by the Marquis of Cerralbo, you can really sense the 1800s splendour of this impressively designed and decorated mansion. As well as stunning interior design, it houses a collection of over 50,000 objects, many rare, from coloured glass chandeliers, to sumptuous furniture, floral vases and much, much more.
And for the final section of this episode, we take you to a little palace, once home to the artist Joaquín Sorolla, famous for his depiction of light in painting. The palace retains the much of its traditional decoration, and houses many of Sorolla’s most famous paintings, and outside, we enjoy exquisite gardens boasting beautiful water features and quiet contemplative corners.
An enormous thank you to all our Patreons for supporting our project!

His work is wonderful. I am so glad you like it too!
I have chandelier envy, those were stunning! The art is truly admirable to be sure. I have always love home tours of historic people and love museums, so it pleases me that you take time to share all of this with us. I appreciate what you do.

its just amazing how the aristrocrats really lived in the 1800,s probably a good thing the poor people didnt see this or there would have been a lot of rioting going on! just amazingly beautiful!
Now is the same but they have gadgets
You think that the aristocratic chamber pots emptied themselves?
omg, the things we dont think about!!@@waldemarsikorski4759
Thanks for the tour of this simply Amazing house/ museum…. Yes Camilla hard to chose the best room 😍
So true! I am glad it is a museum now, so we can all see it and all share the beauty, inspiration, creativity and incredible craftsmanship that went into these places. To think of the hours of painstaking work to create it. The talent. The imagination, vision and sheer hard work really has to be appreciated. It was such a magical experience to see it all and we are very lucky to be able to share it with so many others. We all love to dream and be touched by beauty.
What a Unbelievable Place, The Antiques and Light Fittings Fantastic, And Such a Beautiful Garden. Love Water In a Garden. X 😘
What can I say that you haven’t said already? It takes my breath away. Such opulence and absolutely exquisite💖 Some of those paintings look three-dimensional. My favourite paintings is of the ladies dressed in white standing up side-by-side with an umbrella and the one standing on the her own in light blue outfit. Well done loved it 🥰
Thank you. Yes that is such a lovely painting. There was just so much there. A feast for the senses. We are so glad you enjoyed it. 💖💖💖
ok but I love the chairs in 6:25 that look like they have supermarket sheet cakes as cushions.
Really enjoyed myself! The paintings were exquisite. And yes, do design a pool like the one in the garden.
Hi, y'all, it's me again! I just can't get over the details in this home! It's truly sumptuous! ❤

What an absolutely enjoyable episode.
The tour of the mansion was amazing. You were right on in your description of falling in love with an interior only to walk into another even more fabulously decorated room and fall in love all over again.
I might be wrong, but I believe the carved duck is actually supposed to be a dolphin.
Everything was exquisite, down to the smallest details. Good advice to show up early.👍 The chandeliers, Stephanie would have lost her mind in there.
I love Joaquin Sorolla's work. What an incredibly gifted painter. What a joy to see so many of his paintings in one place.👍
Thanks for bringing us along with.❤
Thank you. We are so glad you enjoyed it. it was a truly inspiring and spectacular trip. A feast for the eyes. So much creativity and beauty. We are so glad we were able to share it. Thank you for joining us. 💖💖💖
You need that wall paper for your bedrooms, that’s beautiful. They are taking colours from one fabric. Gentle colours very affective
The largest collection and most stunning chandeliers I've ever seen! Amazing!
Madrid is wonderful....thank you for taking us along for a "peek"👀 of what it has to offer. ❤
That was almost overwhelming to watch! I can imagine how it must have felt being surrounded by it all. Thank you for the experience.
"They say Spain is pretty though I've never been, Daniel says it's the best place he's ever seen." 💜💜💜
Outstanding content! Thank you for bringing us along on your amazing tours. Have you seen Sorolla's Sewing the Sail? It's my favorite.
I'd think one would need at least a gallon of ice cream after that mansion. Incredible! And thank you for introducing me to a new artist. The paintings were amazing!
So gracious. Just love the black and white floors. Love Sorolla s painting of the sleepers. Thank you for this wonderful tour🤗
Absolutely stunning museum, thank u both for taking us there! So many to see in Madrid!
Thank you 💖
The wallpaper was stunning. Something like that would look lovely in your downstairs hallway that never got painted. Even the way they painted the bedrooms would work in your house
WOW, just WOW. That museum and the art gallery took my breath away. I don’t know if I’ll ever travel to Madrid(certainly want to know) but I am so grateful that you took you along this incredible journey and tour. Really appreciate you sharing your adventures with us. Thank you ever so much 😍😘
Well, you've given us another special treat by taking us along on yet another fantastic adventure. Thank you!
Thank you 💖
Thank you so Very Much. I am completely overwhelmed with emotion. The Beauty of both the museum and that art gallery. The paintings brought tears to my eyes . Full on blubbering.
Love from Canada
I am totally blown away by the wonderful over the top house! Imagine how wealthy these people were!! Actually I dont think I can even begin to imagine!!!
I loved seeing Sorolla's paintings in such a intimate setting. Puts me in mind of a little art gallery in Penzance Cornwall Penlee house of the Newlyn artists, not so grand but of its time.
Well, it appears the Marquis didn’t want for anything! The amount of amazingly beautiful chandeliers alone was breathtaking…all of them! The little art museum was so charming from the beginning to end and I immediately fell in love with the painting of the mother and her infant in the big bed together. It melted my heart and I don’t recall ever seeing another like it before. I so look forward to your video every week. Thanks so much for selecting such interesting venues to share with us. Hope Ollie got his ice cream and that Camilla gets the pool of her dreams in your garden!
What a feast for the eyes thank you for taking us along your comentry was very entertaining always enjoy your vlogs.
Unbelievably stunning! That mansion was astounding, I've never seen such wonderful chandeliers and decor! And Joaquin Sorolla's almost ethereal works! The light in those paintings is surreal, just amazing. I'd be lost for words just being there!
It really was truly amazing. We are so glad you enjoyed it too. I think it is so important to share these incredible things. It is so inspiring to see such talent and craftsmanship, so much vision and creativity. It brings magic and light into our lives. Thank you for joining us.
WOW. Such a juxtaposition between the opulence and extravagance of the Marquis mansion and Cerralbo calm , full of light and color house. Camilla you find the best places to share with us!! And definitely, a pool such as the green one needs to be at MMM!♥️
It truly was a magical place and even better that we were able to share the experience. It was quite out of this world. Thank you for joining us 💖💖💖
Hello lovely couple! Thank you very much for sharing the visit of that gorgeous mansion ! Amazingly STUNNING ! Thank you again ! Bisous from Alsace 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇😘😘😘🤗😘😘😘🍰🍰🍰
The chandeliers were my favourite things in the first museum but it was an incredible mansion too. The second museum gardens were really lovely and the paintings of Sorolla were incredible. It has been said that the eyes are the windows of the soul but Sorolla's eyes, seemingly directed this light into the brush strokes as he painted. He perfectly captured his subjects in joyful and peaceful times of their lives. Thank you for sharing your delightful discoveries in Madrid. I will be watching this vlog many times.
Thank you Christine. We are so glad you enjoyed it. It was such an incredible place. We are so lucky to have been able to go and to share it with so many. Thank you for joining us. 💖💖💖
All 50,000 items were masterpieces.....!!!!
What a super day out, stunning chateau and wonderful art gallery. Thank you for sharing. Xxx
An awesome abundance of beauty! I wish I could quietly move into that mansion, and live there. Maybe no one will notice. 😄
It is an amazing amount of portraits on All the walls
Oh thank you!!! And I just love this artist Sorolla.. the light…. The little girl seen through the flowers❤. A new discovery for me.
This is one of maybe 3 of the most amazing decorated homes in my life!!!! and I have seen alot!!!!
Wonderful! The art gallery was breathtaking. ❤
Wow love the dining room Chandelier.
WoW!!! Thank you for the tour!!! The rooms just got more and more magnificent with the last one just jaw dropping!!!!!

It's totally amazing! Cerralbo and Sorollo just too much beauty to take in one day! Thanks for sharing your visit.❤ ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for joining us. It was so inspiring and beautiful. We are lucky not only to visit but to be able to share it. 💖💖
Thank you for such a gloriously beautiful journey! It blows my mind that so much beauty can be combined in one place being so different yet so cohesive. Remarkable!
Absolutely! It was quite spectacular. We are so glad you enjoyed it 💖💖
This vlog has been breathtaking. Such incredible beauty and magnificence. ❤
Absolutely EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE is a work of art! I would have to have a little lie-down frequently before moving on to another room! 😆
Those are Murano glass chandaliers, aren't they?
And, oh those painting in the second place you showed us! I want one! Or two, or three! 😍
Thank you for sharing this with all of us. We are blessed!
I don't believe we have anything like this at all here.
Love Jacqueline from New Zealand
I did feel like having a lie down between each room. 😂It was a total feast for the senses. So much to take in. We are so glad you enjoyed it. It is so wonderful for us to share these magical places. Thank you for joining us 💖💖
Love the paintings...gorgeous!❤
Those paintings do capture perfect light!!
The Spanish royals and aristocrats lived in luxury while their subjects were probably starving! Beautiful though!♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
True of most countries unfortunately. Even today we still see huge differences in wealth around the world which is unjust. At least this is now open for us all to enjoy and be inspired by. Giving us all the opportunity to dream and see the beauty of what people are able to create. 💖
The Sorolla museum is a revelation. I once saw a web display of his work and was really not impressed -- it seemed to be done on some kind of template to impress, really rather tight and self conscious. Don't know how to explain it. Seeing all this varied work here gives a true idea of the breadth of his work, really a lovely intuitive and brave artist. Thanks!
Love it as usual a great vlog
I was expecting a little museum but this is out of this world WOW. How could you chose a favourite room thanks for showing. I’m going to watch this vlog several times now in my saved favourites
Thank you. We are so glad you enjoyed it. It was such an amazing and inspiring place. Thank you for joining us.💖💖💖
A feast for the eyes. Such beauty and all the people queuing to appreciate it! The art gallery and gardens with water features were my favourite. Thank you for taking me along with you.
Camilla voiced what I am thinking: how in the world does anyone have time to amass such treasures in a lifetime? It's truly breathtaking, thanks for the tour!
I love how they’ve put the sculptures on stands rather than on the railing. Easier to relocate if needed. Looks regal. Have you thought to put your lady sculpture that way.
When I was in Scotland the other day a friend took me to Dunrobin Castle and the staircase was quite similar to this one, extremeley grand and old photos of it showed it decorated with drapery and palm trees and ferns as was the fashion then. I spoke for ages with an elderly guide whose mother worked in the castle and he became staff at the age of 15 and he was in his 70's and had some wonderful stories to tell. The gardens were also amazing but the artwork in the castle was exceptional.
Thank you so much for this video! I was in the Cerralbo museum in 2021 and was blown away by that amazing chandelier, but the photos on my phone were deleted. Now I can enjoy that moment again. So great! :)
Beautiful perfection!! Thank you!!
Thank you for taking us on your beautiful journey ❤️💖❤️
Wow, wow for the second museum of the Spanish painter.!!!!
Thank you Camilla and Ollie - absolutely breath taking vlog. Love Daphne
Thank you both for taking us on that totally unexpected adventure. My mind was blown by the sheer beauty & opulence of the mansion museum & gallery. It was incredible to think that places like that actually existed. Thank you for taking us along for the trip. 👍🏻😉
What an absolutely stunning place you’ve shown us again Ollie and Camilla. Thank you so much for sharing 😊❤
Thank you ☺💖
The museum is simply fabulous. Thank you for taking us through the art gallery, what a delight! xx
The carved in marble bathtub is my favourite. I would happily seal again and again, just to use that wondrous tub.
This is WOW times ten. That room with the RED dining chairs! Who does that in a mansion? It's so beautiful and so right. That color is normall reserved for dens and bars but just another wow for that too!
In a different style Sorolla's paintings remind me of Carl Larsson whose work I love. It is of course on a much smaller scale but they lived and worked more or less at the same time. Larsson was born ten years before Sorolla and died four years before Sorolla.
Ollie and Camilla, what wonderful museum/ homes you visit. I love the artistry of each and every room. Thank you for bringing us along on your tour.
Thank you for joining us. It is so wonderful for us to be able to share these amazing places. It felt truly magical being there. 💖💖💖
I am 62 years old and have never been diagnosed with adhd but am certain I have it. I was never able to focus in school which led to problems in my adult life.
I refuse to take dangerous prescribed medication.
My partner of 15 years suggested I try marijuana. At first I was appalled at the idea.
I thought about it for a few days and out of desperation and exhaustion decided to give it a try. It has been a godsend.
I started smoking two puffs three times a day (no more).
*my focus has improved immensely
*memory has improved
*anxiety (which was crippling) is now nonexistent
*creatively has soared. I get up everyday full of hope.
*sleep has improved
This may not work for everyone but for me it has changed my life for the better.
Love this video, that first place you went to was absolutely beautiful,
Mind blowing is the best description for that amazing mansion. So much beauty! Thank you so much for taking me along 😊
The paintings are Amazing! I enjoyed the water features also Thank you
Thank you so much for taking me to those amazing places , I particularly loved the art gallery
How beautiful are such items and places for which some have never seen, thank you Camilla and Olli. Should you ever find yourself back in Italy, i would suggest you make Caserta Palace and Gardens a must to visit, you most certainly won't be disappointed, that huge murano chandelier you showed is small on a scale of some in Caserta Palace truly breathtaking and a place i will never forget. Xx
Thank you for taking us along to Madrid.
What can I say ‘Thankyou both’for taking us to amazing places we would otherwise never have been to and your excellent knowledge and wit ,Awesome ❤xx
Garden fountain would be GREAT!!!

Somewhere in Time The Magic of Exquisite Opulence🌟
LOVED the Villa - in particular, the clocks!! Especially the mini grandfather clock, at 11:18 😍😍😍 Oh, and that suspended crystal clock, in the arch, at 16:28? THAT is extremely special! It is a mystery clock, because you will notice, that there is no mechanism to be seen... Today, with modern battery operated clocks, we might not think much of it - but that clock works, and the hands are run, through the wires, it is hung by, and the mechanics are hidden, so that all you see, is simply a suspended crystal disc! And... If you love the paintings by Sorolla - then you need to look into P. S. Krøjer, and the other painters from the art colony in Skagen, Denmark! The style, and the work with light and shadow - even the motifs, really remind me of them!
As magical as you are. So valuable to at least view these beautiful buildings and interiors on your videos. Thank you so very much.❤
So nice of you
Muchas gracias por tomar el tiempo de visitar y compartir sus videos de los museos. Todo es de maravilla, me fascinó ver las pinturas y sus comentarios tan agradables. Saludos.✨
Muchos gracias!
Not much ironing getting done here - jaw-dropping! As my husband hasn’t seen this yet I get to watch it again. Such opulence 😃 Thanks you two ❤
I love your appreciation of art and architecture. Fabulous tour.
Awe what a lovely time you two are having ❤️
